Bayan Bay right?...it has moved to the road directly opposite the Sungai Dua bus terminal, sorry i forgot the road name. Means for the bus terminal, go straight at the T-junction (it's the road heading to Queensbay Mall), the food court is about 200-300 meters from the traffic light.

For vegetarians, there are many decent shops too...i think there is one which is buffet style at Irrawaddy Road, off Burmah Road, and there is another vegetarian shop at farlim, behind farlim's KFC, not bad too =)

Maxim Dim Sum makes pretty good Dim Sum, they are in Sungai Dua, Bangunan Lip Sin. If I'm not wrong they are a branch of Max Gourmet opposite Queensbay?

For Mee Goreng, I personally think that the one in Pulau Tikus market tastes better, it's in a kopitiam but I don't know the name, it's very near to the Jalan Bangkok one, just opposite it (one road away). I've heard the one near Fort Cornwallis/beside Esplanade tastes pretty damn good too but I never had the chance to try.

Gurney Drive Wan Tan Mee worths mentioning too, they're special as they're spicy (麻辣/ma lat)

The mee goreng sotong there is awesome, do try it out. And also there's a Chinese stall opposite which sells western food their chicken chop is nice as well.
Oh and also remember to order coconut shake to quench the thirst lol

Just been to Penang. Went to the Penang Famous Cendol costing RM1.90.
People will be standing by the roadside and enjoy the cendol.
But I still feel that the cendol is quite normal.
Melaka cendol is still the better one.

Yup that the one. Here is another food critic take on this poison...

If you like your cendol rich with coconut milk with lots of green pea noodles and big, fat beans, head to Rival Stall.

Personally, I prefer the Original Stall. For Rival Stall, at first the richness of the coconut milk was nice, but after a while, it got rather jelak (cloying). I prefer Original Stall’s coconut milk-gula melaka ratio, because you get the fragrance of coconut milk without overpowering the lovely notes of the gula melaka. It’s lighter and more refreshing. Plus the green pea noodles are softer and more slippery. If only they were more generous with the green pea noodles and red bean!

Keat Seng coffeeshop is located at the junction of Jalan Ayer Itam and Reservoir Road. Address is 10-J, MK. 16, Ayer Itam Road, Penang.

femes for it's ice kacang ar? err.. by today’s standard, Kek Seng’s ais kacang is normal nia. They used to produce the best-est durian ice-cream in the world but ... think chef no more liao sad.gif
Kek Seng is located in Penang Road, just right across Komtar’s main entrance.

Melaka cendol is still the better one.

Everytime I go Penang and melaka I sure will eat cendol. And to be honest I can totally understand how some will prefer Melaka over Penang cendol, cos essentially they are different 'styles.' it's like saying 'is prawn mee better than pork noodle?' they are both noodles but different style.

malay char koay teow = wet type

chinese char koay teow = dry type (in general)

oso cannot compare mah sweat.gif

hokkien mee can be:

1. northern type, soup cooked with prawns or <insert animal> ribs

2. southern type, fat noodles fried with soy sauce

i hate to call hokkien mee as prawn mee because in my entire life, i only know prawn mee = mee udang, which is something in between mee rebus and mee kuah ketam, usually malay selling.....
