I’m trying to compile a list of Penang Food as almost every other week we have people asking for places as to where to eat in Penang. Keeping track of the Penang Thread is difficult cos it is 62 pages and 1200++ post! laugh.gif

Please note
A. this thread is about places to eat in Penang and not where to stay or sight-seeing.
B. the list is not 100% accurate as such I’ll need your help in keeping it relevant and up-to-date. So feedbacks & comments are most welcome and also do remember TASTE is very personal hor.. laugh.gif

got 2 more to add to your list,

the tong shui dessert at Jalan Macalister.
the western food opposite the graveyard. (forgot the road name)
*
Err...exact location will be much appreciate.

Jln Macalister is quite long and I'm not familiar with this tong shui place.

The western food opposite the graveyard? Roughly which part of Penang is that? Jln Mount Erskine?
The one in Jln Mount Erskine is very budget one and caters to students in the nearby TAR college. If have support for this western from more forummers, I'll go and find out the actual name & address.

Business hours: 11am - 5pm
Closed on Wednesday except on public holidays

The lady boss said can called up to place order if want to ta pao for party etc.

Btw, it's the OLD market already.  Actually, I tasted the one from the stall that is in the coffee shop diganolly opposite, taste good too.
*
Thanks Ami Tsun. I also bit confused cos it seems the old couple sold the business and went overseas to live with their children. Dunno if it is Sweden or Switzerland...remember only the S.. laugh.gif

Get me name of the stall that is in the coffee shop diagonally opposite, and i'll put it here.

So, I heard / read that there are 'territorial' areas at hawker centre / street food whereby you can order food from specific food from selected stalls. Is that true? Does it happen to all hawker centers?
*
Not all, but it does help if you asked 1st before ordering.

People will be standing by the roadside and enjoy the cendol.
But I still feel that the cendol is quite normal.
Melaka cendol is still the better one.

Yup that the one. Here is another food critic take on this poison...

QUOTE
Conclusion << Click here for more head-to-head comparison.
If you like your cendol rich with coconut milk with lots of green pea noodles and big, fat beans, head to Rival Stall.

Personally, I prefer the Original Stall. For Rival Stall, at first the richness of the coconut milk was nice, but after a while, it got rather jelak (cloying). I prefer Original Stall’s coconut milk-gula melaka ratio, because you get the fragrance of coconut milk without overpowering the lovely notes of the gula melaka. It’s lighter and more refreshing. Plus the green pea noodles are softer and more slippery. If only they were more generous with the green pea noodles and red bean!

Keat Seng coffeeshop is located at the junction of Jalan Ayer Itam and Reservoir Road. Address is 10-J, MK. 16, Ayer Itam Road, Penang.

femes for it's ice kacang ar? err.. by today’s standard, Kek Seng’s ais kacang is normal nia. They used to produce the best-est durian ice-cream in the world but ... think chef no more liao sad.gif
Kek Seng is located in Penang Road, just right across Komtar’s main entrance.
