I’m trying to compile a list of Penang Food as almost every other week we have people asking for places as to where to eat in Penang. Keeping track of the Penang Thread is difficult cos it is 62 pages and 1200++ post!

A. this thread is about places to eat in Penang and not where to stay or sight-seeing.

Jln Macalister is quite long and I'm not familiar with this tong shui place.

The western food opposite the graveyard? Roughly which part of Penang is that? Jln Mount Erskine?
The one in Jln Mount Erskine is very budget one and caters to students in the nearby TAR college. If have support for this western from more forummers, I'll go and find out the actual name & address.

Thanks but unfortunately, some places dun have exact shop names or road. Hope to hear from you after your Thursday trip.

Thanks Ami Tsun. I also bit confused cos it seems the old couple sold the business and went overseas to live with their children. Dunno if it is Sweden or Switzerland...remember only the S..

Err Siam laksa pulau tikus? Where ah? Corner of Burmah Road and Moulmein Road?
The assam laksa farlim shell station? Have they relocated to Medan Angsana 4, below the multi-storey carpark?

Me and 6 of me friends had that tua pui curry mee with the famous or kio jelly and lau sia!

Hi ya, the one at the old Federal Cinema one ah? Err, shy la I eat there very often but currently... many of my friends and relative dun have good comment about his CKT anymore. It is more of Fried Big Prawn$ di$h f£avor with koay teow.

"ai yu bing"??? Sorry today dun have mainland China translator with me, but or kio jelly is jelly with lemonade.

Bro, it has been 4 years now since I last frequent mainland. There are many hidden forgotten gems but scare I give wrong info. Which is why I did mention help needed, so feedbacks & comments from Tai Koh are most welcome.

Cos very few people come to Penang for dim sum? Anyway wat shop you can suggest ah?

Guys, if no have roads name or shop name very hard for people out of Penang state to find these places that you mention.

Penang seafood ok nia.
KL seafood got better chef & of course better price. Many times, people come to Penang for the hawker food rather than seafood.

Yes, dim sum in Penang not as good as those in Ipoh or KL

Places for Vegetarians? have but wat kind of Vegetarians? can take eggs & milk type or...?

I dun mind put up a list as a convenient for vegans but most people dun travel to Penang just particularly for Vegy.

Not all, but it does help if you asked 1st before ordering.

Putu mayong? must go early(before 9am) to Jelutong Wet market near the row of shops selling GAS, electrical goods and canned food.

Different person different poison mah!

2 years ago have but now I also dunno. Seldom visit that area liao. Actually hate to visit that area cos limited parking & jam jam jam.

BTW Have you try the dim sum at Shanghai Chinese restaurant at JW Marriot KL or Xin Cuisine restaurant in Concorde Hotel KL?

no specific address cos I always get lost in BM.

Those restaurant have imported famous dim sum chef from Hong Kong and China. Very ho heong and ho mei! (sry my Chinese sux)

Most shit rojak I have ever tasted! It is like super sweet caramel (ba lei ko) flavored slightly with hee ko.
I wan the real hee ko and balachen!
Dun believe you go and try. Just make sure he makes a fresh batch for you.


waaah ... I always go after 10:30pm.

But when I enquired, many of my friends perfer the one after 10pm wan...
and according to 'hardcore' fans, the best is only if you eat after 2am!!!

PS my fav is still line clear. And hey if you have a passion for curry goose try Tajuddin Hussian at Queen Street. Pls go there before 12:30pm.
