QUOTE(arthur_91 @ May 22 2012, 12:36 PM) Hi, i just went to TTDI Maxis, and had a chat with a guy who worked there about this promotion. Don't think outsider can answer your question unless maxis people. Can the good folks of lowyat confirm/comment on this? The person said: 1. the promotion last from 18/5 to 18/06 2. only for 10k subscribers. 3. the QUOTA system will be implemented on JUNE. <--- i seriously need confirmation on this. =x 4. There will be a difference between torrenting at peak and non peak hours. Users like us only can tell what is happening now. No quota and torrenting full speed. Btw, DrPitchard can answer? Wish to know whether above stated is true or not. |

QUOTE(Saros @ May 22 2012, 03:50 PM) I was wondering why no one else noticed this. Searched this thread and nothing. I have one question regarding this.I queried Maxis on their forums at https://forum.maxis.com.my/forum_topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3000 Feel free to see their replies on this as well some other common questions like public IP. Now you know what they will do with YOUR Thomson router, YOUR WiFi bandwidth and their T&C. My modem isn't open 24 hour, in fact sometime only few hour per day. Will maxis use this for public hotspot? Then user connect to my modem will always get dc... wakaka |

QUOTE(Saros @ May 22 2012, 04:03 PM) If you physically power off your router, and turn off the wall plug switch, it will not magically power on. That much I'm sure Power plug swtich off of course.Wether Maxis will send a technician to complain and force you to plug it in, I cannot answer. Please do join in the forum thread I posted above your post and pose these penetrating questions to them. However, if you leave it plugged in but turn it of... I don't know if it's possible to force it to wake up. For normal PCs however, I used to work on a computer that could do that if my admin forced it to wake up, back in uni. As long as it was plugged into the wall and the switch was on (but PC is off). Was pretty creepy to see it suddenly spin up to life. If maxis request me turn on, i'm happy to collect electric fee / other fee from maxis. Since contract not state that i have to turn it on and make sure service available to others. |

QUOTE(numbertwo @ May 24 2012, 12:52 PM) This is what Maxis FTTH CS told me : You submitted your form?1. i have fulfilled the min 12 mths contract on my current package, so I'm surely eligible to upgrade to the 10Mbps/$118 package without any penalty.. 2. I get to keep my public IP setup 3. I need to walk in to Maxis Centre to signup! (this is crap..can't they just do it online? Ain't we in the digital age now??) 4. No quota as of now. Well, I don't mean to be nuts, for those who wonders when will the cap be implemented, and what will be the outcome if you hit the cap later etc. etc.... I doubt even TM can tell u and give you the confirmation! So, just relax and signup if you think M gives u what you want... At least I'm gonna enjoy the 10Mbps next week or sooner! I been the garden maxis centre to change to 10mbps. They will terminate my 6mbps and register new 10mbps. waive penalty fee. But need to wait for installation (i think configuration) They told me service will interrupt during terminate and new installation period. But they not call me for installation date yet How are yours? Installation date set? |

QUOTE(numbertwo @ May 28 2012, 12:11 PM) Hi, I ask the same question at the counter, but he told me need wo.I don't think there is any installation required at our home, they just need to reconfigure their server to take effect the new change.. Nope, I'm still on my 6Mbps.. With the overwhelming response I think it will take a while to see our line gets upgraded... I will call them and ask if after few days also no one call me, or still 6mbps. You go maxis centre aldy? |

QUOTE(barca96 @ Jun 13 2012, 03:34 PM) Sorry if this has been asked before but Im a total IT noob. For 2nd question.1) I just download songs from warez. I read that people talking about fixed/share IP. Will that affect anything to do with warez or MF (media) or FS (file)? 2) Why are there so many people complaining about the data cap? When I was in OZ, we only had 20gb yet I only use up to 15gb/month after downloading HD football matches (you know which team hehe) and HD videos. 3) How can Maxis use TM but TM just letting Maxis have the better deal. Wont TM lose out customers because of this? 4) How is the service so far with Maxis? I've been using Streamyx for years. Never had any complains with TM. That's why Im a bit scared to move to Maxis. Unknown territory Thanks People download blue ray movie mah. one movie already 30gb at least. |

QUOTE(barca96 @ Jun 13 2012, 04:31 PM) Say what now? You can use media player or pc connect to TV.3 months to wait for them to come and install? Is this real? My Streamyx contract will expire in August/September. Ideally I would like to subscribe to Maxis 10mb now (promotion) but only start paying in August. But I jsut got off the phone with Maxis CS. He said 2 weeks. So either I will have to subscribe to Maxis and continue paying for Streamyx until August/September or just subscribe to whatever plan is attractive when my Streamyx is expiring. So confusing. Added on June 13, 2012, 4:35 pm Thanks for your kind feedback. 1) That's good to know! I need to download HD football matches once a week from RS/FS. 2) Even with a 100gb cap, I am more than happy. So far, the most I've ever used is 15gb/month. 3) But isn't TM still controlling things? How come Maxis dare to undercut/steal customers from TM at a lower price? 4) Good that you are an old Streamyx user so you will be able to compare. How is the speed so far? Are you always in the 8-9.5mb region? Is it always stable? I haven't had a problem with Streamyx for more than 2 years now. But my only problem is that during the day, 1-4pm, it tend to get slow and sometimes slower than 1mb. Added on June 13, 2012, 4:36 pm Wow. Usually I see those HD movies on Warez, it's <5gb. Didn't even know that such a huge file existed. Watch Blueray on Lappy or burn it into DVD and watch it on tv? Those huge file sieze is blue ray iso, i haven't try before. 720p and 1080p normally we download is rip from blue ray. |
