Yup, actually, it's less than half the price?
For iPod Touch 4 32GB, to get iPhone 4 32GB, you need to top up more than 50%.
iPod Touch 4 is slimmer, ligther, and the performance is also better due to no resource required for phone functions.
And when you're playing game, no need to worry play half way excited, suddenly the game paused with incoming calls, or possibly the device hang for a moment there before the incoming calls appear.
Only aspire can clarify, haha.
iOS basically designed for simplicity, in fact, it's too simple. There's only MENU, no homescreen, no widgets, nothing. With none of these, the OS itself save a lot of resources already. Plus, most if not all apps, have no exit button, there's only one GODLY button, one button to rule them all, the HOME button. How simple is that, who don't know how to use? Only one GODLY button to press, no brain required.
Well, the simplicity is good actually, BUT the problem is, there NO room for improvement or advance features; it's treating the user forever as a dumb and simple user, doesn't matter if you're some computer/phone idiot or computer/phone expert, you're treated the same way, a dumb and simple user; the OS is not designed with every type of customer in mind, but it's designed that everyone also able to use it.
Why? Let's put it simple as 3 levels of user: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
If you designed for Beginner ONLY, sure all levels of user can use.
If you designed for Advanced ONLY, lower levels will struggle.
iOS is designed for Beginner ONLY.
A good OS, should designed for ALL levels, with default set to Beginner; user should be allowed to turn on more advanced features; This way, any levels of user can benefit from it, beginner level users can upgrade themselves and advance to the next level. But iOS, forget it, no room for user to improve/advance, BUT it's a smart strategy... WHY? Imagine the user ONLY know how to use a simple and straightforward OS with one GODLY button... when they use other device, they cannot cope and they don't know how to use, so they complain it's not nice to use, etc. So, these user concluded those phones are NOT GOOD without knowing the details, their level and knowledge is limited to the level set by iOS.
Put it in another way, since we have FCam, we get to play with many controls of the camera, which many enjoyed. iOS user are like the users who knows nothing about the details on camera function, they only know one GODLY function, the AUTO mode. True, things should be kept simple, just like camera provide AUTO mode and the AUTO mode should always be improved and take good pictures, but at the same time, cameras also provide options for user to use other features/functions and also manual controls, especially when you talk about professional DSLR. Now, the difference is, iOS doesn't provide any other options, there only AUTO mode; So imagine if the user only knows AUTO mode, when they see Shutter priority, Aperture priority, etc. They will complain, they don't know how to use and too complicated, just give AUTO enough.
iPod certainty attract me because of lack of games plus the poor battery life in Maemo(in Android the battery last longer).
I'll wait till MeeGo released & see the developers reception towards it before deciding on iPod.If there are plenty of developers start writing games for MeeGo I'll just jump ship to N9.
About the exit button,I wonder why both Apple & Google omit this all useful function.I mean the idea is simple. You don't want the app run anymore, just press "X' & the app is terminated. For those who jumped from Maemo to Android/iPhone,you guys will have some trouble closing the apps. The 1st time I used a Android phone I actually restarted the phone thinking that the app freeze.
Some people may call Maemo interface as hard to use but in reality it's actually quite easy to get by.At least it has a proper way of closing app.
Hmm, might just. But the waiting is killer. Plus the touch has half the memory of the iphone only amongst other things.
But yeah, I'm still not really sold on replacing my tried, true and absolutely rock solid E71 with the IP4 on an impulse buy like this. And I just want the apps after all lol.
Also I need a dedicated DAP anyway to switch from my Sansa Fuze which is getting old, and with the ability to use LODs the new touch looks like a good candidate.
But it's simply gonna make my gadget collection so so much bigger lol, pocket will all bocor edi. Oh well.
I think I'm actually in gadget frenzy mode post the death of my N900 really, I just need to buy something lol. Kesian poor me.
If you're really satisfied with E71,just stick with it.With your level of tinkering ability, you'll be very disappointed with iOS.There is just too many limitation even after jailbreak.
If it's Apple Store apps you want to enjoy, like I said before just get iPod Touch 4.Around RM1.2K for 32GB model?Way cheaper than iPhone 4 32GB.
