Hello all poodle lovers , just a few question.
My dog Jeremy is 3 months old now , how much should I feed him. 2 spoons per meal and 2 meals a day?
I find out Jeremy is being aggressive recently he will start to run around and bite people is this normal as its teeth is growing? Will this habit stop?
Jeremy don't like to wear dog collar, but from what I heard is a must to put it on dogs so that they will kept '' under-controlled'', so should I forcibly put on them?
And Jeremy is a very intuitive dog , it knows a few commands like Sit, Jump and Come. Is very basic, but im opting to teach him harder trick, so is this possible?
thx
Hi W1W2,
FeedingYou should measure the feeding according to it's protein content. That is the more technical part of the measurement which you can learn by looking at the previous 2-5 pages (just browse through, just discussed). The more simple method that I use is by feeling his stomach. As long as it is not smaller than the ribs, he is well fed. Also if he poo too much, then he is overfed. Normally 1 poo a meal. That's how I measure.
Biting IssueBiting people is a wrong thing to do and must be stopped immediately. You must use a loud and stern reprimand command by saying 'NO' to him when he starts to bite ppl. Most likely he won't stop cause it will become a habit eventually if not stopped. How you can handle him is by giving him a cow skin raw hide which works for my messi. Get a few and keep it somewhere (They normally can't chew until the rawhide finish one, just a bit potion only). When they start biting ppl or on things you don't like, say 'No' to him and use your finger to close his muzzles until he quiet down. When he quiet down, straight away give him the rawhide and when he is showing interest by biting the rawhide, praise him with a cheerful tone by saying 'GOOD BOY'. You need to be consistent and continuous correcting him and eventually he will know that biting ppl and things you don't like is not right.
CollarCollar is important if you want to train him at later stage. I just started obedience training class with messi. Harness leash is not good for training purpose and the trainer advised us to use a colar leash to control them.

My suggestion to you in rectifying this collar issue is by making him comfortable first and later put it on him. Maybe once he wear the collar, you can praise him good boy and straight away give him treats. A bit of treats is good already, not too much.
TrainingPoodles are smart dogs. They learnt fast. Good and bad. If you teach the right way, they will be good. Sometimes we tend to train them in our way which maybe wrong. After first 3 lessons, I realised that I have not been teaching correctly as I tend to have other confusing command in between. Sometimes the confusion caused them to learn things we don't want them to learn. So, I suggest you sign him up for obedience training maybe for 1st and 2nd level will do good.
