Planned cost
Basic meals per month = RM20-RM25
Supplements = RM10+ per month
Grooming average per month = RM63 [Basic Groom = RM30-35 every 3 weeks to a month; Full Groom= RM80-85 every 2-3mths]
Heartgard and frontline = RM30 per month
Shampoo = RM50 (can last quite long)
Time and love = unlimited smile.gif

Not compulsory/one off/unplanned cost
Toys and shirts = a bit of toy will keep him/her occupied. Shirts you will gatal to buy a lot... smile.gif
Cage/playpen/food bowl/drink equipment = RM200 (one off cost)
Vet cost = ? (Suggest allocate RM30 per month) first 2 months the vaccination can go up to RM100 for 2 months
Spa = ? (If you gatal)
Obedience class = RM150-RM300 (for each level 2.5mths)
Boarding fees = RM20 - RM35 per day (if you go travel)

Hello... The above is just a guideline for your budgeting. smile.gif In average, you need to allocate RM100-120 for them. And buffer RM200 for emergency vet cost.

It cause by urine soaked on that area.. wet and humid. Keep that place clean it will dries up and heal soon. Vet had suggested to put iodine, but sometimes I just leave it and apply some anti-bac cream, it will heals  smile.gif
*
Oic, i was very worried, Luckily this morning i saw the pimples dries up a little bit.
Maybe because yestersday night i had changed new and clean bedding for him.

@scorpgal

Clean the cage daily. Apply some dettol on a plain cloth and wipe the whole cage base... I use forban (human skin gel from pharmacy) on those area with pimples and it helps.
*
Thank you.Today will buy Forban on apply on it. wah..i put a towel on top of cage base, so i got to clean the cage base on daily basis too?or just clean the towel weekly basis..puppy so sensitive with cleanliness.

Hi all,My poodle is male and his name is Maloney. I dont think it is because my bed or towel make him skin sensitive cause i just bought him home on this monday all my bed is new and clean, just visit a vet in Bandar Puteri, Vet said he infected those skin sensitive from the breederhouse environment . Honestly i saw the breeder house not that good.

The vet gave him medicine to eat for twice a day, besides that i found his one side ear got a big kutu, was really shock when i found. i faster told vet about this. The vet applied frontline (RM 24) on him.

In addition, the vet help my poodle pull all his hair inside his ear hardly. he was really hurt. he kinda raugh on him. isnt before pull the hair need to apply some powder in order to get not that hurt. was pity for him though. Total cost me over hundred plus a bottle of sampoo for him..but is worthy for get rid of flea and bump.

hi scorpgal nice to meet you, my baby boy name max. very naughty fella. haha. btw how come you vet didnt put some powder before pulling his ear hair? your maloney sure scream in pain if without powder.. we see it also feel the pain. i suggest maybe you can look for another vet which is more friendly towards our lovely poodle. just my sharing opinion, but is up to you.

and wht kind of brand the shampoo he sold to you? out side vet shampoo for flea didnt cost that much also. better do some market price survey and check is the price the vet selling you mark up alot. Not to talk bad about ur visiting vet, but is much better to get a 2nd opinion too in certain situation. hope you dont get me wrong , well all of us at here wish for the best to our furkid too cheers thumbup.gif

At first, I didnt know need to be pulling his ear hair, then after visit vet. I went to Petshop to buy some accesories, the petshop gal tell me is need to put powder to release pain from pulling ear hair. After i heard what she said only know The vet very rough on Maloney. Cause i saw Maloney shaking toward the vet after he pulled his ear hair. ..haha.

Besides, this Satursday i am going to give me 2nd Vaccine. i thinking not bringing him go to that vet edi..although his sell 8 in 1 is only at RM 55.00.
By the way, he said 10 in 1 in whole market has no stock.

I forgetton what brand of the sampoo edi..it only RM 25.00. just buy it first if not good next time i switch to other better brand. any recommend for sampoo?

[quote=iluv2zzz,Mar 30 2011, 11:19 PM]
yea, like I said, Maloney was soaked in pee that causes those pimples.. just keep him clean from now, he will be ok smile.gif And you are right, should apply ear powder before pulling the hair inside the ears. It shouldn't hurt them too much if done correctly.

QUOTE(Divas @ Apr 9 2011, 06:36 PM)
Don't buy from a pet shop buy from a responsible breeder....

As far as size goes. A correctly sized toy poodle is "under 10inch at withers" which means and dog with a Pedigree certificate stating his/her ancestors were toy poodles who stays below 10" when fully grown is a toy poodle.
Also how much food a dog eats the first few months of his/her life will play a big role in how big he/she grows.

If you find a responsible home breeder, you should be able to see the parents of the puppy you are considering which will give you a good idea how big he/she will grow. If you don't see the parents and don't have a lot of experience with poodle puppies then there will be no way of knowing how big the puppy will grow.
*
As concern the size of poodle will be growing.i strongly agree with ur saying, please find a responsible home breeder and "must" see puppies's parent. As for my experience, after i bought the ever first toy poodle only realised toy poodle may turn not a toy poodle like you seeing, dont trust with the breed name of "toy poodle" itself.

Second, dont be hesitate to make decision especially when the price is cheap or low. I am giving my advise are from the mistake i have just made.

QUOTE(huey80 @ Apr 18 2011, 10:53 AM)
The times r not spread out evenly...from 6pm to 8am is 14 hrs...being just 3 mths, he will be very hungry dy...

So far, for all my babies, ive never tried feeding 3 times. They all ate twice a day...12 hrs interval.

Is ur baby extra small size? still soaking the kibbles?
*
Thanks i will try to split the interval time more eventually. My poodle i suspect miniature poodle. although the seller told me is Toy poodle. I measured his height has reached 9 inch half.

3 - 4 teaspoon is enough for mini poodle.i think a bit less for him. i have no idea what is correct feeding amount for him. shocking.gif i thought is it because he still young i need to feed him 3 times a day. the breeder was feeding him 2 times a day only. i never soaking the kibbles for him as the breezer just feed him dry kibbles.

QUOTE(yeowa @ Apr 18 2011, 11:16 AM)
I also feed two times a day since 7 weeks old but spread between 12hours... normally earlier than 12hours...
*
hmm.gif i should feed him twice a day, since it's more easier for me .

If u want exact intervals and u r feeding 3 meals per day, u can try 8 hrs in between each meals.... 6,2,10 or 7,3,11 or 8,4,12.... This is just a rough guide la....
If u find your puppy in the skinny side, u can try to increase a little bit more of food.... smile.gif
*
Actually my workplace very near to my house. I only feed him at my lunch hours time( from 12.30 PM - 1.30 PM)..so sometimes its quite inconvience. since few of you here feed twice a day, it would be great i change the back twice a day. Maybe will stop him vomit mucus.

Ok, i just follow how i feel with the amount i feed him. i feel a bit skinny..maybe need to increase the amount a little bit.

If u're planning to switch back to 2 meals, remember to increase the amount per meal to match or increase the amount ur pup was eating in 3 meals....
*
For both, 3 meal quantity plus together and divide into 2 and plus extra little bit amount of kibbles

QUOTE(huey80 @ Apr 18 2011, 12:12 PM)
3mths old already 9 inches (22.5cm) is not even a mini, it;s a standard poodle!! R u sure u measure correctly?

And becoz breeder din soak his kibbles, doesnt mean he can adapt well with other brands? Or r u using breeder's brand? Each puppy's stomach works differently..Frankly at 3mths old with teeny weeny teeth, dry hard kibbles is too diff for them to chew n digest properly. If he din chew and just swallow, it's bad for his digestion and will be prone to throwing up later.
*
I guess correct. coz i saw the poodle height chart for Toy and mini aslo. seen as below picture

HEIGHT CHART FOR TOY POODLES
Attached Image
Look at the green line with "the highest point of shoulder (withers)"
This how i measure

My poodle is 13 weeks old.

POODLE PUPPY GROWTH CHART
HEIGHT CHART FOR TOY POODLES
AGE IN WEEKS HEIGHT IN INCHES
5 WEEKS 5 INCHES
8 WEEKS 6 INCHES
12 WEEKS 7 INCHES
16 WEEKS 8 INCHES
20 WEEKS 9 INCHES
24 WEEKS 10 INCHES

HEIGHT CHART FOR MINIATURE POODLES
AGE IN MONTHS HEIGHT IN INCHES
8 WEEKS 8 - 8.5 INCHES
3 MONTHS 10 - 10.5 INCHES
4 MONTHS 11 - 11.5 INCHES
6 MONTHS 13.5 - 14 INCHES

From the chart, my poodle fall between. ok, i think i will soak the kibbles coz he eat very fast. not good for digestion too.

The chart website is http://arpeggiopoodles.tripod.com/poodlepu...owthcharts.html
