Got it. Thanks. One more question, do I need to translate all my required cert and documentations to English? As most of my cert is in Bahasa Malaysia, and if I need to certify those cert, I need to find an English certifying stamp as well? (Normally the cert certifying stamp is in Bahasa Malaysia in my school.)

isn't that a bit stupid?..........for translation purposes?......

unless, of course, the stamp is meant for certifying true copy......in which case, if you do english translation, you will not need that stamp.........

start date: 6 June 2011
end date: 30 September 2011

tuition fees : 3815pound
maintenance: 600*4=2400pound (4months right?)

money that i prepared
5200pound maybank bank draft (my name only)
70 000RM maybank fixed deposit (joint acc, mother and my name)

so i consider can pass? (or my RM cannot take it as proof?)
*
that's is okay, but you will need a letter of undertaking from your mum to say she allows you to use the money in the joint fd account.

the lower half of the pecking order of uk unis are fill with ex-polytechs and tafe's turned unis.......

full fees international students are highly sort after, as the fees help cushion the dropping state funding.......

from the perspective of fees paying students, with the amount of fees you are paying, it makes no sense to go to lower rank unis.....the top half of the table are full of good unis with equivalent fees...........

Can anyone advise what is the mininium expenses (fees & cost of living) to study Medic in UK now ? Which U is cheap and good ? If I have a budget of Rm500k, can i manage ?
*
the cheapest med school full fees is about gbp100k for 5 years.........if there is an extra year for b med sc, that is extra.......

living expense depends on city, and lifestyle.....but out of london, living frugally, one can manage with gbp500/mth or 30k in total........

so if you lock in at current exchange rate, you need minimum rm650k......not including start up costs (visa fee, airfare, beddings, etc)........

shu is a ex-poly, and lies in the lower half of the league table.......

500 pounds is enough for living in sheffield, if you live frugally and cook yourself........

part time jobs are hard to find nowadays, the economy is struggling and unemployment is high.........

A few comments on various airlines (Economy Seat) based on experience:

Thai Airways
Direct Flight

[/I]there is NO direct flight with thai.......you will have to change flight at bangkok.......
the tickets are quite cheap if you do booking at the last minute.
Food served are quite appetizing.
disadvantage: no entertainment! earphones provided.

thai uses their b747-400 on the lhr route, and comes with full ife........
flights sometimes quite empty, so you can sleep on 3 seats.
Return ticket costs Rm3200, one way ticket RM1800 (sep 2010 rate)

Brunei Air
Transit at Dubai

you will have to connect the flight at bsb.......
tickets are cheap during promotion period. london return ticket around 500 quids.
food so-so.
strict baggage limit.
flights sometimes quite empty, so you can sleep on 3 seats.

Emirates
Transit at Dubai
food are nice. airticket price quite reasonable.
would be cheaper if you fly from gatwick airport instead of heathrow airport.
best entertainment provided as the screen is touch screen
seats are quite big.
but flight super full. so definitely no place for you to sleep comfortably.  tongue.gif
food so-so.

My friend took Singapore Airlines A380. they have super spacious seats.
but tickets are pricy.

the a380 seats are the same as their other aircrafts, with the same seat width and pitch........

my two cents smile.gif

Do we really need to bring chest x-ray scan passing through the immigration? Do they really ask for it? Or I can just show them my medical report form?

I figured out it will be quite hassle to bring those unfold-able big envelope
*
They will want the actual pictures. Make sure it is with ur hand carry.

the ukba estimate of living expenses in london is 7200 pounds for 9 months (the standard length of an academic year).....ie 800 quids a month.......

if you are expecting to stay on during the holidays, then you need to add to that sum......unless you can find work to support yourself.....which can be very difficult in the current economic climate......

the estimate of course took into consideration additional expenses for other personal expenses like mobile phone costs, movies, eating out with friends, transportation cost, buying personal items like clothing, grooming and hygiene products etc........

hey should i buy winter clothes over here or in UK. pls advice
*
it's summer now, so you don't need very warm clothing at the moment, although i must say, it is a rather cool summer this year..........so some light jacket you may already have is sufficient.....

buy warm clothing when you arrive, like tiger says, cheaper and more range........

the other trick is, if you want good quality and cheap warm clothing, buy during spring, when it starts to warm up......stores usually will have hefty discounts to get rid of old stocks, if you are lucky, that nice leather jacket you have been eyeing may be selling at 20% of the winter price!......keep them for the next winter, it's only one season out of fashion...... biggrin.gif

QUOTE(terrabyte @ Aug 18 2011, 04:28 PM)
Hi, this is pretty urgent, so I'm hoping someone can help clarify my doubts. I'm about to apply for my visa tomorrow morning but I just realized that the fixed deposit receipts I have are not up to date (past the due date, the stated due dates are early this month). Would my application be rejected because of this?

I do have bank statements from each bank stating that the money have been kept more than 28 days, that it can be withdrawn anytime with the total amount of money for each account (though not amount of each individual FD receipt) stated up to date. Would that itself be sufficient?

If not, I'd probably have to postpone my appointment date tonight. So I'm hoping someone can provide some feedback. Thanks!
*
there is no necessity to update fd certs nowadays, as if you have automatic renewal, the bank should be sending you renewal notices, with start and end dates and interest levels....

if you have the bank letters, with proper letterheads, and with up to date information, you actually do not need the fd certs......however, i am not sure if such letters are acceptable, they actually usually want the actual statements themselves.......

if the accounts are not in your name, you will need a letter from the account holder to certify the owner of the funds allow you to use the funds..........

no need to make appointments for uk visa for group of 6 or less. can just walk in.

but i guess with A level students applying the queue will be kinda long.
*
you can make appointments online.....

if you do not have an appointment, you will only get served when those with appointment has been dealt with, or not at all, if all the slots have been taken......

this is peak period, with the a levels result just released, and final offers coming in, so expect big crowds.....appointment is strongly advised.......

i suspect many would be students do not really know the history or ranking of unis in uk.....

the other reason of course is, poor results, which would effectively confine you to the lower end of the table.......

believe me, internship is very different from actually getting a job....

having said that, the piece of paper gets you past the front door.....subsequently, it depends mostly of your performance....

the big difference between the pecking order of unis is....which door it opens for you......and there no doubt that a good pedigree piece of paper opens more and better doors........

like all things, there are exceptions, but exceptions cannot be extrapolated to the general.....
