Hahaha I'm joining this September's Bachelor of Science (Finance).  More like the quality of lecturer's. Of course I don't expect Cambridge or UCL quality!  ohmy.gif

UCL?  hmm.gif

It's ranked 4th in the UK, according to this:

Going in September?

guys...the agent of the uni request a reference letter...she insist that the lecturer knows what to write...but when i ask the lecturer...she tak tau apa apa pun...dunno how to write..  rclxub.gif she ask if there is a standard form but the agent say the lecturer sure know how to write..
*
Which pre-U college are you at now? If this is for September intake, isn't it a bit late to be only getting reference letters?

Just FYI, in the extremely remote possibility that international students may be able to look for jobs, after graduation. The oversupply of IB jobs is startling, 142 grads going for 1 post!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educa...ss-degrees.html

For those thinking about IB, go watch this 2011 movie called "Margin Call". wink.gif

Fyi,margin call is based on US market.
*
Is that completely irrelevant to IB as a whole then? If yes, do educate, please.
Since Wall street the movie was also based on the US market, does that mean its insider trading plot was irrelevant to other stock markets? There were many Gekko wannabes even in the country, especially in the mid nineties. I believe some are still living off the gains made then...smarter than Gekko of course.

it is free competition, and there is no guarantee.....but because, unlike oz now, the number of f1 places has kept up with the graduating numbers, nobody have missed out on placement yet...

remember, some graduates leave the uk, eg msia scholarship students back to msia, or people who choose to go straight to spore for housemanship....

post f2, if one does not get matched into a postgrad rotation, then one will have to leave....again, in recent years, many msias actually choose to leave to go to spore, even if they do have a match....
*
Will be interesting to know the numbers who left for Singapore, the default country by virtue of its proximity to home. Not sure about the lifestyle there though!

There's this ongoing "joke" among parents I know - that if the offspring is studying in oz, the chances of them coming home is rather slim, but if in the UK, then chances are high! LOL!

At the end of the day, I suppose the decision belongs to them.

You don't normally eat your meals at home?

You go food hunting and tasting on every meal? How I wish I could do the same thing.

Anyway, have a great time there!
*
I think as long as the food is decent, and they don't try and cook asian meals, food at uni halls should be fine. During my time in Australia, our meals were typical aussie fare, and it was fine. However my son did complain that the hostel he stayed in last year had rather bad catered food, and it was mostly because they were attempting to cook asian dishes which failed rather miserably. This year he was in a uni residential college, and he said food was superb, with formal dinners once a week, including a red and a white, as long as you're over 18. Doubt he will get to enjoy that in the UK though!

I am more concerned on the weather; cold, damp and raining.

Am sure she will be fine, and adapt quickly. As far as weather is concerned, I suppose they have to be psychologically prepared to adapt that for the next 5 years at least. Exciting times for the young huh?

for the visa bank statement, how much should i show roughly for living ex n  college fees?
*
Just add up first year's course fees and the estimated living expenses, which depends on where you will be in the UK. It's normally stated as between GBP7500 and GBP9000. Not sure about London though.

unless there is specific requirements from the uni, the ukba only want a cxr....and nowadays, they will ask for the xray and report......so keep it with you in your hand carry......

if you don't have it, they will do one on the spot for you, at the immigration area......and charge you for it.....can't remember how much....

There is apparently a notice at the VFS that medical check ups are not required, due to " Malaysian healthcare standards".

Informed that there is no requirement but immigration may pick on random. For med students, uni to carry out further screening before orientation.

yes, son had one done in Australia, and Uni confirmed this should be sufficient.

how long it usually takes for the universities to give out the CAS number? for visa application.

Are you waiting on results? Applicants with Unconditional offers would have been given their CAS by now.
