Okay hi guys, I've just posted in the Taylor's Uni thread, however I'm gonna repost here because I feel it's relevant tongue.gif

On to my portion of the post! Anybody have any experience with UCAS? I'm graduating my Diploma in Tourism Management in December, and I want to continue with my Degree in UK Sept next year. I'm kind of concerned with the UCAS Tariff points too, I don't know what is the UK equivalent to my course =\ Can anyone help me out with a step-by-step guide through this? I know I'm supposed to check with Taylor's for guidance, but I'd like to know your personal experiences and opinions as well tongue.gif

UCAS Tariff
Diploma in Tourism Management (current course)
Bachelor in Air Transport Operations with ATPL (course interested in)

I'd be grateful for any help given!

Look thru the UCAS tariffs, you won't see your Diploma in there because it's a non-standard qualification.

In your UCAS application you'll be asked to include details of your educational qualification(s).

To find out whether yours will be acceptable, contact City directly.

lol! Desktop pc's are cheap here. £300+ buys you a pretty high end desktop. A 20" LCD is only about £120. Why the bother! If you really need your data and stuff, just save them onto an external harddrive and bring that over.

Yeah, but I'll just bring for now. Definitely will buy the maggie there in the future. Since there's not much difference between the prices. But as for Milo, I heard it's quite pricey isn't it? The last I checked on the website it costs about 10+pounds for 400g?
Haha, yeah. That's what I've heard too. Thanks for the heads up! Will look into those Chinese supermarket. biggrin.gif

Anything else that I should look into? I worry too much. >_<

Can't survive without Milo? tsk, tsk, tsk! Okay, one really good tip. Make sure your luggage has wheels. Good solid wheels that won't buckle after a few rounds! I remember mind f@rk up after I hit a bump at Heathrow. Also, don't bring unnecessary stuff that can only make you baggage heavy. In London, I had to use the tube extensively. Lugging those luggage 3 floors up and down the underground stations is no laughing matter! There are no lifts in most of the stations!

BTW September is a good time to travel. Weather is around 15 - 20c. Just pray it doesn't rain too much. Can be quite a bother.

Hi, referring to the City requirements, it accepts BTEC.
I forgot to mention, my course awards a Brevet de Technicien Tourisme by Academie de Toulouse as well as a Taylor's awarded certificate.
Now, based on this (see under France), it says Brevet de Technicien is considered comparable to BTEC National Diploma standard. In other words, does this mean that I am able to use my French certificate to apply?

Well, good on you that they explicitly state that your qualification complies with a particular standard. At least it is acknowledged.

However I am not fully aware of the nature of your qualification and so I can't comment on it.

In any case, even if your qualification was not listed there, you would still apply with the same... nothing would change.

Yes. Aim higher.

If you must go to Scotland, check if Edinburgh or St Andrews have an MSc in Engineering. Otherwise there are plenty of better schools in the UK. I know some are expensive, but why Aberdeen?

Well in that case, you should see whichever is best for you overall in terms of the course.

Aberdeen is famous for it's reserve of oil and gas.. perhaps location-wise it could help you one way or another (ie. looking for a job in O&G companies)
