Arsenal have reportedly made a contract offer to Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi.

The youngster enjoyed a successful trial period with the youth and reserve teams in north London, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger suitably impressed. A five-year contract is thought to have been offered to the 17-year-old.

After his spell with the Gunners, Miyaichi suffered a broken leg in a behind-closed-doors fixture during a pre-arranged trial with Ajax. The Godenzonen released the player so he could return to his homeland, and following positive reports from his High School medical staff the Gunners have pursued their instance.

Young Guns credit Japanese sources in their story on the contract offer, with the reports suggesting that the player could join after his contract with Chukyo High School ends in September.

However, the move to England is set to be on hold until December, with the Japanese media reporting that Miyaichi will wait until his 18th birthday before moving to the Premier League outfit.

The Japanese youth international rose to prominence on trial with a dazzling display in a 3-0 friendly win over non-league Boreham Wood. Wenger's assistants watched the game, as did chief executive Ivan Gazidis, and all three were suitably impressed with the performance.

With a continuing policy of bringing youth talent to the club, Wenger appears to have landed another coup and added more strength to his academy side at the Emirates. The offer is not affected by the transfer window.
