The speed of AF on screw drive lenses depends on the body, not the lens (well, to some extent, it also depends on the gearing of the lens itself). Sony's screw drive AF speed is quite good (depending on which model of alpha, of course) so I think the AF speed should be OK. It is the noise generated by the screw drive mechanism which we should be worried about. Even the SAM lenses are not known to be quiet.....

SSM will of course be silky smooth and quiet. *hehehe*

Well AF might also in hunting as well when it cant track the target ... also not every time the AF works well as the DoF will cause it jump focus often. So need some knowledge to handle it as well

Also what is Shutter Lag by the way? I realizes more on video that the A55 needs to have longer shutter release time ... and yeah 10fps ... 50 seconds time buffer?

24mm that one is the Zeiss la...

Somehow, I think when I get my hands on the Pellixes, I wont have much of a big WOW reaction as I did when I 1st saw/touched the NEX. Mainly because the new features, when concentrated on, they are just as normal as other cameras out there, taking pictures and videos. The WOW factor comes in the form of "I know this will ease my job of taking pictures (and now videos) by a whole lot compared to any other dSLRs out there at the moment, including the camera that I own now". And best of all, I know I can use all my lenses on that body without the need of an adapter like the NEX and still having full dSLR functions in it. So at the end of the day, its more of a peace of mind, rather than "wow, I've got a new gadget" kind of expression.

Some people need it, some people don't as in your case, you don't find that range appealing to you. Well, some people would love that range on an apsc for portraits and product shots.

Hmmm, how can I put it. It's more like, you will know when you need it when you know you need it. Else, its going to be pretty much a white elephant.
