I gotta agree the back of C7 looks really good la. But the front not so fancy. I can trick to ppl into believing that it is the new E series from the back. Lol
agree.... the back look smooth and flat really nice
Yep. kinda stylish looking too. I think this is on par with the SE Vivaz. I always though the Vivaz design is nice but to other it looks too plasticky. Hmm

AFAIK C7 have wifi (b, g and n) alongside 3G, GPS etc etc. Its just looks like the E series designer decides to design other series of Nokia phones... Which is great as E Series designs is legendary

Normal? Well u really didn't appreciates some E Series phones such as E71, E72 or the tank-like E90 Taking E71 for example, that hella one device have a very usable QWERTY keyboard, with the usage of metal as the body and the very thin profile, enclosed in a very sexy design. Maybe a men meat is another men poison after all
E series design quite normal only..wat's so legendary??
U obviously never used an E series before, aside from the E75, the rest of of the E series is super slick build with brushed aluminum and also metal, makes me wanna have it for breakfast. lol. damn delicious. look at the other nokia, too plasticky already i seeing the N series heading to metal design already. sturdy build + less squeaking sound

ya are u the one who is getting the X6? dont worry la although plasticky quite ok the phone. at least the build is ok. i prefer sturdy build that is when metal comes in play, heavy abit but nicer to hold. 3 years later got C10 maybe

depends on user... some like resistive , some like capacitive
resistive, -more accuracy, can point even a very small object -need a bit pressure and only works with something pointy (stylus , finger nail), therefore screen tend to get scratch easily
capacitive, -easier to touch , no need apply pressure , screen wont scratch -sometimes cant touch an exact point coz it senses a small area on screen

Screen getting bigger, button getting bigger. So capacitive r getting popular..
Yup, cant deny that capacitive is going mainstream. But in certain cases, IMHO resistive is much more preferable for example in tapping the small links on during web browsing. Just my 2 cent

Describing my impressions from Nokia N8 I asked the readers to participate in the questionnaire on the prospects of Symbian^3 and answers were quite symptomatic. It is good for Nokia, but does not impress against the background of other solutions. This is the best description of this range and Nokia C7 is not an exception. People who are accustomed to Nokia phones will like the model, but this solution is hardly a market leader. Among flagship models on Symbian^3, you will not find a more balanced handset. Think yourself, the model successfully got rid of an unnecessary HDMI output and a 12 MP, but retained other features of Nokia N8. Nokia E7 will be more expensive. So, we have a winning solution for the next several months. The handset will appear in shops in mid October or November. The recommended price will be around €300-320 before taxes. In real life the price will be higher as we see in the case of Nokia N8 (announced price of €370 became €450-470 in shops). Depending upon the market this phone will cost around €360-390, but even such a price is quite attractive.
In C series we have Nokia C6 with QWERTY keypad, but it costs a lot and is not very attractive. Unfortunately, we should not expect any OS update for the model as Nokia C7-01 (imagine this index) will appear in this capacity. It can be announced in the first quarter of 2011. This will allow Nokia to sell Nokia C6 and launch Nokia E7. It looks that Nokia C7 is the main model on Symbian^3.
Those who are accustomed to Symbian and know this OS will find the model attractive. It offers few interesting games, austere and outdated interface. Taken together it means that Nokia C7 will not attract new customers, but Nokia fans will choose it quite consciously. After all it is the best value for money on Symbian S^3.
The C7 dna is based on the N97, which means the problems in N97 will be carried foraward to this model, and also its slow processor. Ppl are coming out with at least 700Mghz these days... What are Nokia thinking??? Sorry, People, talking about the C6... not C7

Ok... Can throw the c6 away... Come talk about c7....
sometimes i realize certain ppl are very good in talking but they are unable to proof themselves in reality. They keep trying to make themselves sound intelligent but they are unable to show intelligence to right people. The conclusion is always the result. Those that proven are rewarded. Some just end up nowhere. Awww how sad?

Question is how long? Later say launch next year den suddenly announce meego? Which will u choose? If this phone launch at about 1000 - 1500 it will be selling like hot cake like 5800XM

i doubt so. since c6 is already launch with the price off RM900 (original), for those who are budget buyers will rather choose to buy c6 than c7. i can't really see anything special about c7 besides of 8mp camera which is slightly better than usual ones. since c7 is a new model, it should at least plug in usb-otg. Plus c7 with 8mp camera without carl zeiss lens is nothing but a ordinary phone camera and i can say that it might even worst than n95 camera with carl zeiss lens. at the same time, C7 is using ARM11 without any enhancement. In other words, if c7 is more expensive than n900, i doubt there's lot of people who really willing want to buy it. i guess the price will be around RM1200-1300, and it won't be selling like hot cake as 5800xm.

firstly.. try not to judge the outcome like the camera before the real outcome...
2nd.. U think the a 680Mhz CPU vs a 434Mhz CPU in the exactly same architecture no different? I cannot agree on this one..
3rd.. AMOLED vs TFT no different? I agree the diff are not that big.. but it depend on how good the C6's TFT... too many type of TFT
4th... Symbian^3 vs Symbian^1 not much different? I can only partially agree with you on this...
next, out of topic.. do you think ppl will spend another RM500 or more for N8?.. since U think C7 are not worth it.. ...

Camera sure got diedrema between 5mp and 8mp
Obviously 680mhz got difference compared to that miserable 434mhz though it's same architecture...
AMOLED sure got difference again but seriously not that important...
Symbian 3 runs at 60fps hence theoretically should be alot smoother than Symbian 1
Umm...yeah...I guess people will spend more to go for N8 than C7...and 1 of those people will be me if I were to decide between C7 and N8 because of the really powerful graphics chip in N8

that's my point. i haven't try symbian^3 yet so i can't judge how good it is.N8 itself is good but and selling together with headset isn't a wise move from nokia
for 680mhz & 434mhz cpu, it is obviously a different there but it's just some allocation on processor and memory issue. both are using the same architecture still.

that selling headphone move really not so wise... they want to tell consumer that is a purely entertainment handset.... at the same time, they push away a lot potential buyer....

hahaha..how lag? my X6 doesnt lag too much wor. BTW, will X7 be Meego? if yes I think I might wait out this wave of Symbian^3 coz I want XM series if possible
After N8, N series phone will have MeeGo. E series after E7 might get Symbian^4 I guess
its good news...8MP fixed focus really a joke to all camera phone users. I bet even those with the old K550i will laugh...WTF 2MP got AF 8MP no AF??? xD
I have never use a fix f cam phone since the day i change my moto e398.......
for me since my mom's 5700 I dun use fixed focus... but all the other cams in my family are fixed focus except for me.. BTW...fixed focus are not that bad for point n shoot..in fact faster than AF..but... u kno la..blur a bit a, off focus a... haiz
then better I get N8 and be done with... if no MeeGo in next XM
There's no such thing as XM in future releases...all music series is X-series Nokia only got 4 series namely, N, E, C, X and I don't think Meego will be on X-Series...X-Series will have Symbian
Nokia believe people that use camera phone wont bother with 'waiting for focus' much since its mostly point-and-shoot. So they implement the EDoF system so that u can simply fire up the camera and shoot straight away.

if its true this phone won't be selling well !! people will rather add 100bucks more for auto-focus lens and 12megapixel and so lot of stuff
Sucks pricing... Nokia must remember that if they don't price this competitively, people either remember Symbian^3 phones are freaking expensive or think Symbian^3 not worth it.... (I'm at the latter category). I hope in a few months, the price come down.... If not Nokia's Symbian^3 is only aiming high range which is a market OWNED by Android and iOS.....
In my opinion, this phone is like a replica for the Nokia N8, however you will notice that the target market for the phone is for the ladies. It's slicky and mod. Camera isn't the best however it caters to the needy instead of the multi-functional Nokia N8.

tis is a lower abit spec from n8... price cheaper.. camera 8mp ..so cheaper 200
Heard that this phone will be officially launched by end Oct. Hope to get good reviews from this phone. I was in the midst of contemplating whether to purchase this phone or Nokia N8. Both are seriously similar is their own special and unique ways... If given a chance, I'll try using this phone too.
u have some white unit? maybe snap us some photo... I think the white suit girl.....
I have white colour with me now but problem is i don feel white look nice.. haha.. Later when i'm free will post out more picture of this phone over here
from my view many people looking NB in perspective of camera 12 mpix, HDMI, OLED Screen but did u know that N8 ONLY have one speaker, but C7 got 2 speakers and lack of autofocus.
C7 got autofocus rite? That time I rmb gsmarena specs stated hv autofocus...but some ppl say none... BTW N8 is N series... Later surely got newer functions that only support N... Nokia biased
u tried?? give ur opinion if u tried out urself....
the UI on the menu and the homescreen feels more responsive than n8. but maybe coz didnt get enough time to play with n8 in the nokia centre in Chennai. so many ppl n so less unit around. but d photo viewing n browsing n the music is much smoother on d n8. and d black c7 certainly looks sexy. well at least for me it does.
maybe next week or after that would be able to play around with them longer if i go to d nokia centre again

that why I think the C7 more sexy for a girl... look class.....
0.3inch is not going to make a big difference... anyway it will boil down to how much the price difference and personal tastes, for I see that C6 and C7 are quite close
0.3 makes a big differences...trust me...after I use N900, the screen on X6 is like aiya why not 3.5

urm...because the OS is built for that display ratio...don't complain...everything has its own reason
The OS can be built anyhow... Bsides, it would be more exclusive if let's say N8 has a larger screen reso compared to the C series... They must have chosen 16:9 for some reason...
why doesn't it charge? according to the website it will charge... U connect the phone using the supplied cable to a PC USB 2.0 port?
yeap. restarted the phone a couple of times and now it is charging via usb fine. But theres some other problems...
I cant seem to access the photo album or video. The camera will work once, but after exiting the camera and then going back in again, there was just a black screen.
Im getting a replacement tomorrow anyways...so hopefully the replacement is okay.

Nokia new phone Firmware are always that fantastic one.. N95 like this.. N97 like this.. C6 like this.. N8(some ppl say it is perfectly fine) like that.. this C7 cannot escape too...
got my replacement today and glad to report it works like a charm.
Anyways...anybody has any insight to whether the phone supports which format of vids? I checked the site and it said that almost all especially .avi files are supported but a lot of them dont seem to work on the phone.
cannot deny that.. it take 2-3 months time for apple to settle the lag problem in it's 3G... 2 years old phone they still make the 4.2 work smooth on it....

Nokia? N97 / N97 mini.. all forgotten.. sorry...
Don't need say N97, X6 also forgotten altho we have capacitive touch also
N97 is classier than X6 but they didn't give it capacitive...if not it will really rule the phone market....but with 434Mhz and 128MB....hard to rule oso
totally not cheap...retail price was 2099 for 32gb but I got mine at 1650 ori which is also very expensive...looking at N8 price, I really wanna get heart attack

hahaha.... mine was cheaper...965 for 8GB...but....for 700 more....
totally agree it's a little mess up...this naming syatem could have been good if Nokia doesn't do random picking like X5-03...unless Nokia is planning to fill those spaces in the future eg : X5-01, X5-02 etc...

Regarding the naming scheme, Nokia should have waited till released of Symbian^3 device before using the new naming system.
Anyhow that naming scheme is bad...some of those people suggested to make C601, but that is already used in SE naming scheme... C series, X series also stolen from SE...Xperia X1 was first... I think they should just continue with the previous 4 numbered scheme..maybe just refresh it... maybe 5880 for X6... But then C series will have nowhere to go...hmmm wait till I am paid to think for Nokia

Played with the demo phone today. Although the phone is responsive, however, I would say do not expect much from this phone. Maybe I am too used to Nokia N8, that's why I have this little incling that C7 is lacking something which I need to further explore.
Camera wise is good enough if you are not a photo-geek. Hardware is solid enough but some may think it looks plastic-ky.
Overall, quite an impressive phone however I would suggest to pay little more for Nokia N8 instead.

Camera wise is good enough if you are not a photo-geek. Hardware is solid enough but some may think it looks plastic-ky.
Overall, quite an impressive phone however I would suggest to pay little more for Nokia N8 instead.
Hahaha... indeed it is a very common conclusion. I think this phone caters more to lady users. Slickish & Comfortable at hand. Unlike Nokia N8, some ladies might not like the broad solid feel towards it. Well, it all draws down to individual preference at the end of the day.

Hahaha.. I actually wanna ask. U got a n8 in the pocket, the camera area bulges out or not?
That bulge is obvious and visible enought at the camera area, and I tend to wear my working pants a little loose... not obvious kua...
hahaha...I think if wear really tight jeans, the camera will bulge like a wallet...that day my fren brought his phone to a school-organized ceramah. I touch touch his pocket, immediately know is a K800..have a major bulge

Of course, wear tight sure obvious liao ma.. As for K800, the phone is really thick leh. Wear school pants some more, sure the bulge is even more obvious. It's kinda different for Nokia N8 instead. Don't wear until like cycling tights la... that one no need say it's truly obvious lorrr

K800 is thick..added with bulge... Worse...cycling tights are something you will never c me in
Yeap. The difference is very little between the price of N8 & C7. Nokia needs to restructure the price of C7. Sales would be very little if they're selling at the current price. However, if I'm not mistaken, there're people selling C7 at only RM12XX which means it's a 2 to 3 hundred difference. That might change people's mind.

Other than camera N8 really has no major selling point over C6-01 and C7 HGW, enough about the 0.3" of screen size...
with the photos i shot with the Nokia N8 ill choose nokia N8 anytime. Another key point Nokia N8 can stand haha Nokia N8 @ Nite by thenokiagallery, on Flickr

The ultimate way of finding whether the problem is widespread... Why don't you guys try a google search? GOOGLE
Guess there's not many C7 users in this forum. Try asking people in N8 thread. It will be the same. However if it's a minor software bug, it would most probably only affect a specific model and not every model.

Same Symbian^3 but diff interm of camera & RAM. C7 having more RAM juice but fail in camra bcos of the full fouced /Edof cam which is a no-no for those wanna feel closer to DSLR feeling.. (i.e u can't get the best bokeh using this C7..Check the diff in the cam specs here:

haha.. actually after vast reading about all OSes, i choose symbian^3 as my first smartphone for the simple, and lower price range (i'm student, so, need to consider $$ 1st )
i choose c7 rather than n8 cuz i dun wan too pricey phones. and i will buy a camera after this, so, better c7 than n8 and i can bear with the camera though plus, i like the slimmer c7. the black one looks good for girl, the brown and white is superb i got this for 1270 only from GNEX, far less than sold at nokia @ 1490, add 200 can get n8 <--- this one sure regret if buy
untill now i'm very satisfied with the phones. just the phone is a finger-print magnet. u know, not just the screen, but its whole phones! except the metal battery cover but i can bear with it.
the speed is acceptable to me screen is bright. speed is as to be expected from capacitive unit. what else? hmmm.. will update later for more
so far soo good~
err.. since i'm not really familiar with a symbian devices, what should i do first? untill now, i just explore the phone's feature. i can't download from ovi yet, as i'm not really sure what should i do first? about the certificate thingy, what is that actually? hehe..

Symbian^3 is better for beginners... my friend just changed a few settings in her Android X8 and it won't connect to the internet (she is sure to kill me if she reads this) ... About lower price range... X8 or X10 mini is at a lower price range than this (below RM1000) but of course the screen is tiny compared to this 3.5" AMOLED with CBD
Lucky you got a cheap price for this phone... Congratz... But I still prefer N8 if I want to buy a new phone now... I want my 1st N series...since N95 launch I have been waiting for a N series to enter my hands (don't talk bout N95 now...I will puke)
Just buy a case to protect your phone from your fingerprints... Sometimes being a fingerprint magnet reminds you to take care of it properly... need to wipe it always.... Anyway glossy phones are more attractive to people compared to phones with matte paint jobs...

I am jealous of the speed... 680mhz....
ya, till now, the speed is quite impressive, compared to my older problematic phones. hehe.. the bigger screen is one of the reason i buy the c7 its my 1st time see an AMOLED, sure it is pretty. but of course superAMOLED as on galaxy s, and wave is far superior. but it is more than enough to me though
actually, the package i buy, comes with a case. i don't see this on gsmarena. (or did i miss it? ) untill now, is using that as it is fine for me.

Really nice phone... SuperAMOLED on Galaxy S and Wave? Price above this range already... Wave quite near but the software is nowhere as accomplished as Symbian... You put matte SP? Matte SP won't allow you to see the true quality of your AMOLED screen

fuuh.. look classy with the cover.. like blackberry business feel....
It depends on how you think about it. Its actually pretty cheap compared to 'other' models. Pretty happy with my N8 as well here. I have to say, the C7 looks good too . Lets hope symbain ^3 gets an update quick .
Added on November 17, 2010, 8:39 amFyi, I bought this phone and sold my I3gs, so you should under stand what i mean when I like this device and see potential in the future..Not now.. symbian ^3 needs alot of work....especially to make it stable.

these new devices hv a better future than iPhones bcoz of the price range...iPhones are above the range for many youngsters who earn their own keep or get allowance from their parents.. And since youngsters are those who keep changing phones, a cool and classy yet cheap phone will attract a large portion of technology consumers. My RM0.02
blackberry too classy for poor folks like yours truly... :'(
haha..that so true bro. Btw, is there any way for me to set all sms received to become a conversation?cuz I found that some of my sms did not become conversation, instead out came out as a normal sms.some of that cleverly become conversation instead.zzzzz..why ar..

Symbian^3 needs improvements in terms of stability on a lot of things. So let's hope Nokia makes it right. Anyway, Nokia offers lots of updates for their phones So just sit back and wait for the update. Anyway, I think a new update will only come by next year. No updates coming up this year. Be patient.

Your circle of friends sure as rich as you , mine now got 2 X6 owner (me and a friend), X8 owner, Nokia "Leaf" owner, Nokia 5130 owner and several other friends I am not so sure of their phones...limited editions?
ok. my phones hang sometimes. when restart(immediately), it starts to hang when the holding hands logo, or when my phones try to connect to wifi via fring (this apps launch automatically is there any way to disable this?) is this due to software or hadware? it hangs due to excessive apps on backround it will boot normally after 10 to 20 minutes off.

wuwah - must boot again and again everytime hang? mybe u have large memory on ur phone.got external memory?
nope, didn't use any external memory, the intrnal, only filled to 3.5gb only i think it must be problems with the hardware.. haiya..
update: the phone is dead already after my bro played angry bird for a long time. can't on. will sent to nokia care. will update later
since this model is still new, this is common (maybe), as it happens too on my SE w595 before, as i bought the very 1st batch. so, some of them may have hardware issue. (correct me if i'm wrong)
haha.. the phone suddenly freeze lol still didnt find time to go for a check. already try to remove the battery and replace back, but the phone still "sleep"

guys, little question here, if i send the phone at NCC at KL, can i receive it at somewhere alse, lets say, alor star? as i'm currently on holiday, day by day, i see the phone dead, it quite hurts me
my hand so itchy to send it at NCC around KL now. haha
IMO, c7 was built for people whi wants an N8, but already own an SLR/other prosumer camera (lumix lx5, gf1, canon s95 etc)

so far, it does not have any problems though, as it is silently sleep dead in my bag, inside its cover, as it cannot on anymore i guess, i'm among those unlucky customer

normally they will say like that to keep their own butts safe from you... later if they say 1 week, can't be done in 1 week, you will totally scold them. So to be safe, they tell you 1 month...normally is like that la...your case... I don't know

newer sliders are better...but can't afford it right now
not much, but for nokia C6, they got the deadly "H" button maybe the issue for a full qwerty phone is the button is finger-friendly or not. some are a bit curve, and some of them are flat.
lol, never heard something like that if want to buy, buy from LYN better.. if buy from nokia shop, 1590 i think. from LYN garage sale, can start from 1260
since this is new model, no AP. but, better buy ori if it got some problems such this mobo..

True phone enthusiasts most probably won't go for something at this price. Shutterbugs for sure get N8...this phone just lacks a special feature to put it above the rest

not too tight budget also RM1000+... Tight budget is 2nd hand phones
aiya.. at first also want N8, cuz i like the design. not like ordinary touchscreen phone. u know, one of my friends, she didnt take much attention on phones, but all touchscreen with like this oval design, she always said, she saw it d at this2 store, even the phone is not yet released, just bcoz they have the normal2 shape:lol: dats y i want N8 at first. hehe.. but, the price can't buy that since it is pricier than my father's phone (at the time he buy that E71 at 1600 <dunno what the price is reasonable or not). that is my reason for "tight" budget
