With PCs getting cheaper as well as GFX, why do people hold back on upgrading to a decent machine?


Yes I agree FFXI is not so casual. I have played FFXI before, and yes I fairly know what to do.
Believe me, I prefer to level up slowly as there as so much things to do.
Level too fast and you end up without any Gil for proper gear.


I am enjoying FFXI more and more because other MMOs (WoW/LoTRO) have gotten to easy mode where you can ding max level in 1 week.
I am not interested in reaching lvl 75 (not that you can in FFXI ;P) in 1 week, I'm interested in my journey through Vanadiel.

u'll need lv75 to get gil. u'll have to farm ur own materials to craft and that requires 75 as the higher lv craft u go.

That is somewhat true. ^^; When I first started, seriously, I've spent more than 6 months only in Palborough Mines - full time mining ( I mean around 2 hours / day average ) to earn sufficient gil to a point where I can get decent gears from Auction Houses without hassle towards 75... And due to the maturity of the game, in general, it's hardly profitable unless you've reached 100 skill in a said craft ( which difficulty could be tougher than getting char lv to 75 ). Maybe there could be some minor crafts which are selling like hot cakes, but this changes rapidly.

I do not agree though, that you have to be a no-lifer. As long as you take things slowly, play the game to enjoy the 'journey' towards endgame instead of 'getting all leet eq', 'level all jobs to 75', 'rushing crafts to 100', as your ONLY objective in this game... then casual playing is fine.

I only have the old old old old old game back in 2004 with only rise of zilart and one mroe expansion, i dont think i can use that acct again right?

How much does this game cost btw? (and do they even sell this in malaysia)?

I saw this game at http://www.play-asia.com/ for RM89.90 for the 2008 collection include expansion till Wing of goddess, Me too i kinda miss the game .. quit like 3 years ago. I lost my cd and can't remember my Playonline ID. Has anyone got back their Character after 3 Years?

There was a Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign that they did to recover accounts that has be inactive for more than 3 months. The campaign has ended but based on their site they can still activate old accounts. Checkout http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/campaign/wcb/index.html

I recently revived my old RDM on another server. Make sure you have at least one of your registration codes/serial numbers, that is enough to revive your old account.
Any registration code will do:- POL, FFXI or one of the expansions.

Do note, that it will take 90days after reactivation before you are valid for server transfer.


You can use it... read 1 post above You might want to check with play-asia.com. Seen very (almost none) few in Malaysia.

You can purchase the additional expansions (except Wings of the Goddess and Crystaline Prophercy) via POL.

I found both my discs AND MY INSTRUCTION BOOKLET!! Note that i played this back in america before 2005 and still found it!!!!

YEAH YEAH

So... do i get any trial for this before i can start paying? because not to sound like an ass or anything, i wanna try the game and see if its worth cash dripping. Plus the latency.

Added on May 19, 2009, 8:38 pmAfter trying to fix all 5 discs into that tiny box i realized that i found three different things....
I had found 4 discs from my original purchase... plus the instruction manual (this only contains ffxi + rise of zilart

Then i found my golden Vana Diel Collection which contains only 1 dvd and prusambly i had lost the manual..

If i had combined vana diel collection code with y original account purchase and revive my account with thecode i found from my original purchase, id reactivate with ffxi rise of zilart and chains of promathia right?

PFFT i just checked the thing has ended on april 28th

As long you have one of the codes registered to your previous account, it will do. They will give you a fresh set of serial numbers.

I heard the campaign is still ongoing, perhaps you wont get the ring thats all

Yes, you will get back everything, they will give you NEW codes to re-register as well to register a new POL account before reactivating your OLD char back into it.

LOL I keep a log book of all my MMO's account details, just in case I do want to go back.

Anyway, several of us newbies are currently on Fairy server. I'm barely in my 30s RDM but now working as a BLM.

Now there's the Level Sync system, its not so much dependant on static pts.

Once you are in Fairy, give me a /tell.

This is what I extracted from their Q&A

1. Purchase a retail version of FINAL FANTASY XI
2. Log into PlayOnline Viewer with the Trial Version POL ID / Password that was used during the Free Trial period
3. From the PlayOnline Viewer, select "Services and Support", then "Membership", then "Content ID"
4. Agree to the conditions for upgrading the account
5. Enter a Registration Code for the full retail version of FINAL FANTASY XI.
a. At this point, also enter any additional registration codes for Expansion Packs
6. Update the payment information for the account by providing credit card information
7. Verify the payment information
8. You will then receive a confirmation that upgrading to a full account has completed
9. You will now need to reactivate the Content ID(s) for the account
10. Select "Reactivate" to start the Content ID reactivation process
11. In the Membership window, click on "Please select a category"
12. Select Reactivate Content ID'
13. Select Reactivate Content ID' again
14. Select the Content ID(s)you would like to reactivate
15. Verify the Content ID(s) chosen for reactivation
16. Content ID(s) reactivation is then completed and you will now be able to play FINAL FANTASY XI

I also ex-FFO player , now i am going into it again , because i am boring with my previous MMO

but once thinking about the LFG system .. I always laugh ..
stand there about an hour to Look for Group ..
hahaha ..

This is the whole purpose for us to get more players into Fairy server.
A handful of new players have joined and even the higher levels are joining us leveling their other jobs.


SE has taken a step to move away from the static party with introducing [Level Sync] system. A lvl 50s job can join a group of lvl 20s at Qufim and still get XP.

Yes, we are There are probably other players on different servers but they're all concentrating on end-game.
For us on Fairy, we have some new players (I'm an old player, starting anew) and some ex-players who have restarted.
