Thanks for the replies. How does a newbie like me fit into a full organised end-game Linkshell?
Its basically hiring a junior staff into a well established-company. The junior will need to learn the ropes. You may basically say he should be independent and learn how to do things himself. But that is not the case, there should be a senior to guide/supervise him along the way. I think Lakshimi is one of the older servers around isnt it? QUOTE(darkskies @ May 6 2009, 09:45 PM) P.S. dont ferget we're using tmnut screamyx, so any shyts can happen. Afterall tmnut upgraded internet to be intranet not long before. Yeap the only thing they really promised upgrading their services is intranet and broadband into narrowband. Haha i have invested in back-up options if (and very often) should screamyx fail. My area is mostly 60.50.x.x and 60.49.x.x - very minimal lag. |

With PCs getting cheaper as well as GFX, why do people hold back on upgrading to a decent machine?
Yes I agree FFXI is not so casual. I have played FFXI before, and yes I fairly know what to do. Believe me, I prefer to level up slowly as there as so much things to do. Level too fast and you end up without any Gil for proper gear. I am enjoying FFXI more and more because other MMOs (WoW/LoTRO) have gotten to easy mode where you can ding max level in 1 week. I am not interested in reaching lvl 75 (not that you can in FFXI ;P) in 1 week, I'm interested in my journey through Vanadiel. This post has been edited by gaeryn: May 15 2009, 10:26 AM |

QUOTE(wikzs @ May 16 2009, 11:57 AM) Hey guys, I just started playing a couple of weeks ago on Fairy ^^ Would like to join a malaysian LS if possible ~ Name in game is Wik I am on Fairy as well... I will keep a look out for you and ask our LS to pass you a pearl. My IGN is Gaeryth / Laerelle (yes i'm playing 2 accounts) Added on May 19, 2009, 11:14 am QUOTE(extremefh @ May 17 2009, 05:09 PM) I saw this game at http://www.play-asia.com/ for RM89.90 for the 2008 collection include expansion till Wing of goddess, Me too i kinda miss the game .. quit like 3 years ago. I lost my cd and can't remember my Playonline ID. Has anyone got back their Character after 3 Years? I recently revived my old RDM on another server. Make sure you have at least one of your registration codes/serial numbers, that is enough to revive your old account. Any registration code will do:- POL, FFXI or one of the expansions. Do note, that it will take 90days after reactivation before you are valid for server transfer. QUOTE(VonDrake @ May 17 2009, 01:09 PM) Wow this thread actually came back to life! I miss this game quite much I only have the old old old old old game back in 2004 with only rise of zilart and one mroe expansion, i dont think i can use that acct again right? How much does this game cost btw? (and do they even sell this in malaysia)? You can use it... read 1 post above You can purchase the additional expansions (except Wings of the Goddess and Crystaline Prophercy) via POL. QUOTE Added on May 19, 2009, 8:38 pmAfter trying to fix all 5 discs into that tiny box i realized that i found three different things.... I had found 4 discs from my original purchase... plus the instruction manual (this only contains ffxi + rise of zilart Then i found my golden Vana Diel Collection which contains only 1 dvd and prusambly i had lost the manual.. If i had combined vana diel collection code with y original account purchase and revive my account with thecode i found from my original purchase, id reactivate with ffxi rise of zilart and chains of promathia right? PFFT i just checked the thing has ended on april 28th damnit As long you have one of the codes registered to your previous account, it will do. They will give you a fresh set of serial numbers. I heard the campaign is still ongoing, perhaps you wont get the ring thats all This post has been edited by gaeryn: May 20 2009, 10:07 AM |

This is the whole purpose for us to get more players into Fairy server.
A handful of new players have joined and even the higher levels are joining us leveling their other jobs. SE has taken a step to move away from the static party with introducing [Level Sync] system. A lvl 50s job can join a group of lvl 20s at Qufim and still get XP. |

Yes, we are
For us on Fairy, we have some new players (I'm an old player, starting anew) and some ex-players who have restarted. BTW, for those who have old chars and wish to re-activate them: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/crs/ They have launched this, but its a paid service now. Yeah its not Crysis, but nevertheless its the ok for me. I'm playing FFXI on my 24" LCD Monitor with 1650 x 1050 resolution everything set on High. Other 3D configurations you can set and alter via Graphic Card control panel. There's a CONFIG program - choose FFXI from your programs menu and you should see it. Playonline is smooth for me. Depends on IP in your area - 60.50.x.x or 60.49.x.x (Streamyx) I'm not sure how 118.x.x.x or 115.x.x.x fares. Yes, everyone is anticipating FFXIV.
Its all in the state-of-mind. You're complaining about all the camping and such. Why are you throwing your irks and grudges into the thread? Especially you Darkskies. I know you guys are veterans and been playing for years, shouldnt you be moving on? Some of us are having fun, why take that away? Some of the other MMOs have bored us with their "easy" mode and capping max level in 1-2 weeks. I am having my own fun while waiting for FFXIV. My LS has plans for FFXIV in the works. For the mean time they're having fun in FFXI. Strange that still alot of people play on PS2 or older PC rigs. This post has been edited by gaeryn: Jun 8 2009, 10:14 AM |

I understand where you're coming from.
But after many other MMOs who made it easy to easier to super easy mode - I've come to appreciate FFXI's hardcore & hardness. Yes, Gear is everything... previous MMOs also made me sort of a loot whore xD. I guess NM camping is a 2 edge sword... I recently got lucky coming across Leaping Lizzie while farming beehive chips. No one was around because it was around JP time. Killed it and got the boots. |

QUOTE(darkskies @ Jun 10 2009, 09:03 PM) Those NM are easy. Not much pple camp them anymore because the rare piece version is dirt cheap now. Try something like Argus for peacock amulet and u'll know. Another typical example would be western shadow for the fist. For some higher lvls NM like despot is also another example. Sometimes after 2hrs from it last death it will suddenly pop on one of dead dolls after a few kills. But sometimes it can be such a douche that it could nv pop even after 4hrs of countless killing or even worst i have seen 8hrs straight. Ever heard of how irritating to get Ullikumi to pop in those days where everyone start complainin till SE decides to turn it into a force pop. Back then rmt was also competing with everyone by starting a nest up in Tu'lia. Some of my friends wanted to get a hit on haidate but due to the ridiculous spawn time of this NMs they nv got a chance. Just because they had to work and they couldnt even fork out more then 4hrs of leisure time. The most time they got was during sat and sun where it's peak hrs and many ls camp the grounds up there for despot. And after 2mths they still cant get a hit on it and were left far behind the list because of how ridiculous the spawn time of despot. If you still have doubts on my claims and think i'm exaggerating, u can always dbl check with the real veterans in here about their voice on this nm random spawn time crap. Most of the time SE have been fired with the same question in interviews on whether did they ever thought of removing those time sinkage feature in ffxi to make it a more suitable game for all instead of No lifers. Yes, I agree some NMs have very long timers. I happened to chance into Argus when I was looking the chests for my RSE. But arent some of the items now "Ex"? And you can get the non-Ex from BCNMs? I dont think you're exaggerating... I have my fair share of camping "rare" spawns in other games. (e.g. LoTRO) xD Getting gear at 3-4% drop rate reminds of raiding as well... LOL For now, FFXI is keeping me busy. I think because of the "easy to easier" modes on other MMOs, I have taken a liking to FFXI now. I'll keep on going till FFXIV comes out xD Added on June 11, 2009, 10:45 am QUOTE(victorchin @ Jun 10 2009, 03:58 PM) Hi, I am curious about Final Fantasy XI. I am currently playing World of Warcraft, and is able to get decent latency using VPN service like Gametune. My question is if I play Final Fantasy XI, will the latency be terrible? Are some of you guys using VPN service and if yes, which one? Depending on what ISP you're using (Streamyx I suppose?) I'm getting good latency with the 60.49.x.x IPs. And finally, does anyone know if Squaresoft is giving 14 days trial to Asian players? I will most likely ditch WOW when FF14 comes out I think JP does it differently. FFXI currently has a free trial. I dont know about FFXIV yet, we'll have to wait. Thanks, Victor Hi Victor! o/ My replies in RED. This post has been edited by gaeryn: Jun 11 2009, 10:47 AM |

I have the FFXI - Vanadiel Collection 2008 x2 copies. No problems with my CD Keys.
They 2008 Collection includes original FFXI, Zilart, CoP, ToAU and WoTG. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-7s-49-en-70-2o3q.html Did you buy the Boxed Set or were the keys provided to you? They could have made a mistaken with you ToAU registration code. WoTG is a separate key on its own. I hope this helps. |
