QUOTE(gooni3 @ Aug 20 2010, 05:17 PM) i think the confusion is here.. to become arahant / bodhisattva u need to go true enlightenment.. which to some ppl also know as nirvana.. i believe the nirvana me and experience is referring to is the ultimate stage.. aka Buddha-hood.. which I think that there no going back I believe so. There's only one ultimate-stage. Just wiki-ed thanks to zstan. QUOTE In Buddhism, parinirvana (Sanskrit: परिनिर्वाण parinirvāṇa; Pali: परिनिब्बाण parinibbāṇa; Chinese: 般涅槃, bō niè pán) is the final nirvana, which occurs upon the death of the body of someone who has attained complete awakening (bodhi). It implies a release from the bhavachakra, Saṃsāra, karma and rebirth as well as the dissolution of the skandhas. So that's what you call it.

arahant-enlightened being, but cannot help others to become enlightened. Bodhisattvas-enlightened being, strive to help others to become enlightened, but cannot directly enlighten those people. Buddha-enlightened being, has the ability to enlighten people. correct me if i am wrong.

If you play FFX, there are some hidden elements that Squaresoft is trying to relate to Buddhist teaching as part of their storytelling... from their literature point-of-view. technically, if u wanna become a Buddha, u need to practice the 10 perfections(Paramis) and to be a Bodhisattva, the 6 perfections. which is very very difficult, and takes a loooooooooooooong time. so people who wants discount will straight practice to gain enlightenment through arahanthood method. easier.
