I wonder if a little WD40 will do the trick

wd40 might loosened the thing..jk
last time a friend's car having the same problem, i help her to jack up the affected front area, find a compatible spanner/s and tightened the big bolt nut in the middle, followed by the other 3 and the sound gone. btw, if you tightened the bolt nut while the car is not jack up , it won'y work. this is due to the weight it has to support. |

in fact, while doing it, the bolt nut only tightened a little'(with a short thack! sound).... about 45 degree or so but the sound completely gone.

you need to open up the rubber cover for the big bolt nut.
lolz...too much of laverage or drill will only kill / loosened the top part of the absorber screw. it's the correct technique that matter. am using standard size spanner. will foldable( to L shape) one end. bought from ace hardware at 9.90 bucks . one hand pressing the top part that hooked up to the bolt nut and another hand tightening. a slight thick! or thud! sound that's all. once you jack up the car, it will be different feel. not as hard btw, am into fitness as well, so, this is just part of arm workout |
