that's a mitsu engine coz it has two fan belts.
Well, how do they recon an engine head? I'd say that the current head cracked after sending for water test at machine shop.
As for the workmanship, thats too cheap if the piston rings are replaced.
Did the mech take the whole engine down, or just took off the head?
The mec did a right thing by checking and replacing all parts esp the rubber hoses as most mech tend to leave them out.... but did he get your permission on replacing the lower arms, brake pads, and other undercarriage bushes?
Added on October 5, 2010, 10:22 pmthe shop did make some money on the parts judging by the price of the spark plugs.
Overall, looking on what has been changed, you are not likely to face anymore problems and should have a super smooth undercarriage especially when you go over speed bumps

Added on October 5, 2010, 10:22 pmthe mechanic would ask you to go back to him after 500 or 1000km for an oil change. If he didnt ask you to do so, then keep in mind that the conrod bearings and piston rings were never replaced

Added on October 5, 2010, 10:23 pmall in all, you were never chopped, unless you never gave the green light on repairing the undercarriage
