hi guys those who used fd for cc, in ccris is it reflected as collateral card? or as common cc without fd?
Will be shown as collateral card. I had posted my CCRIS in the previous version of credit card thread.

QUOTE(Veda @ Sep 13 2010, 08:01 AM)
Morning guys,

I'll be faxing in my application for the OCBC Titanium Card this evening. As I currently don't own a credit card, I'll need to fax the bank statements as well.

If the bank statement shows my savings account is nearly empty of cash, will it kill my application? Should I fax over my FD certs as supporting document?
Bank statement is not necessary actually. I never once submitted any of my bank statements when applying for credit cards and still got it. The most important thing is your 3-month salary slips. It is also recommended that you submit your Borang J as well (the income tax document). If you don't have it then just your 3-month salary slips will do. My mom submitted only her 3-month salary slips to CIMB Bank last time and got approved in about 2 weeks. By the way, CIMB Bank did call her for details verification. Maybank, AMEX, HSBC and Hong Leong Bank on the other hand, did not call.

QUOTE(Veda @ Sep 13 2010, 08:01 AM)
Another question from a credit card newbie. Other than by going to an OCBC branch or sending a cheque, what other ways are there to pay the credit card bills. Can I pay my OCBC credit card bills via Maybank2u? Or use a Maybank/any non-OCBC ATM to pay the cc bills?
Online Interbank GIRO. You will be charged RM2/transfer. For basic account holders, you will be charged RM0.50/transfer for the first 2 transfers every month.

QUOTE(fahrur_07 @ Sep 13 2010, 09:14 AM)
what is the different between gold n platinum card?any extra benefit other than CL?
my cimb petronas gold card has 10k CL
Platinum is like First Class while Gold is like Business Class. The benefit does not vary greatly. The usual difference you'll notice is the insurance coverage and sometimes more discount given only to Platinum cardholders. For example, there is an ongoing promotion at the chocolate shops at KLIA now. VISA Platinum cardholders get 10% off total bill while all others get only 5% off.

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Sep 13 2010, 09:52 AM)
well most of the time when i tried to use my cc to pay for KFC, the response that i got was, sorry the machine is not working @.@
Some outlets even had stopped accepting credit card completely.

QUOTE(cenkudu @ Sep 13 2010, 10:05 AM)
I have amex gold cc, citibank cash back should I proceed with OCBC titanium? initially would not interested to apply but afraid if it be like just one, no longer available
Between Citibank Cash Back and OCBC Titanium, OCBC Titanium is no doubt the better card. It is a pretty easy call biggrin.gif

mind sharing why? as i still think citibank cash back plat is better.
OCBC Titanium MasterCard cash back is much better. The only drawback is the RM50 maximum cash back that will be imposed starting January next year. Besides, they will give you another RM50 to help you to pay for the credit card tax when you've spent RM10,000 on the card rclxms.gif The Citibank cash back of 0.3% for all other transactions is just pathetic doh.gif

QUOTE(Eng_Tat @ Sep 13 2010, 02:11 PM)
like that, if we put in fd 25k, they will approve that much?

You mean HSBC ? If you pledge RM25,000 of time deposit, they will give you only RM20,000 of credit line. Credit line given is only 80% of the FD amount.

QUOTE(Eng_Tat @ Sep 13 2010, 02:11 PM)
also if we increase or decrease the fd it will reflect the cl? or the fd tenure much be as long as cc expiry? tyty  blush.gif
You can't simply increase or decrease the FD. As a matter of fact, your time deposit will be put into administrative hold as long as the credit card is still active. It means that you can't change withdraw the time deposit at all.

I beg to differ. I mom got her first credit card in her early 50s and she doesn't have KWSP. My dad doesn't have KWSP either. Both of them are on the pension scheme.

I think the EPF option only appplies to non-pensioners  tongue.gif
My mom told me they were on both schemes many many years ago but somehow they stopped deducting money from her salary to KWSP years ago. So she just closed the account. My dad did the same. My dad retired a long time ago. Both of them claim that the pension scheme is better. Let say that you've been working for the government for 25 years continuously (if i'm not mistaken), you will get 50% of your gross salary every month. Assume your gross salary is RM10,000 by the time you retire, you'll still get RM5,000 every month just sitting at home biggrin.gif My aunt, who's a senior assistant director in one of the government agencies is earning more than RM10,000 a month in gross income and she still has about 8 years before retiring. She is on the pension scheme too. Imagine how much she'll get after she retires biggrin.gif We haven't even counted the gratuity she is going to receive at the end of her service drool.gif

QUOTE(David83 @ Sep 14 2010, 09:01 AM)
Pension system is for those service with the government if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah ...i guess so but pension scheme is no longer an option. Not since xxxx year anyway. Everyone who joins the government after xxxx year is all on KWSP now.

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Sep 14 2010, 09:32 AM)
dont' we also nd to fax a copy of our cc to them?
Yes. You may fax them a copy of you credit card(s) to them too.

also which bank allows open cc via FD other than hsbc? thanks
- Public Bank
- OCBC Bank
- AMBank
- Hong Leong Bank
- Alliance Bank
Just to name a few. You need to pay RM10 for stamp duty when applying for OCBC's. Alliance Bank charge RM10 for stamp duty and another RM50 as processing fee if my memory serves me correctly. Not sure if any other banks will charge you at all. I used to have a secured credit card from HSBC and i paid absolutely nothing to them. They did not ask me to pay for the stamp duty either.

QUOTE(Embrangle @ Sep 14 2010, 01:18 PM)
Anyone apply  HSBC MPower Visa Credit Card-i ?? Is it Really free
Yes but minimum swipes apply.

QUOTE(travelyew @ Sep 14 2010, 01:38 PM)
I have applied the OCBC but failed although i fullfill the requirement.
Can i apply again?
Yes. Approximately 6 months later.

QUOTE(J-Slade @ Sep 14 2010, 04:18 PM)
1) Is it considered a wrong move to make payment early? Like I make payment immediately on the day the statement come out. Cos credit card is mean to enjoy interest free period right? But what if I make payment early? Will they think I am wasting their time?
No. They already earn x% commission every time you charge something into your card.

Is it once withdrawal of FD, the card is useless and terminated instantly?

You can't withdraw the FD without cancelling your credit card beforehand. I means that you have to cancel your credit card first and they will release your FD in the next few days when your credit card is canceled (note : sometimes it takes 2 weeks or longer just to cancel a credit card).

QUOTE(Intuitive @ Sep 15 2010, 09:29 AM)
Stamp duty,  meaning they issue a cert to you holding a secured CC. Is there a form for us to fill in to apply for secure CC.
No. There won't be any certificate issued. Every banks have their own set of regulations and do things differently. I am not exactly sure how this thing works at all other banks but at HSBC, they will ask you to sign on a green form (collateral form) and that's it. You do not have to pay for anything at all. No stamp duty and no processing fee.

It is also the second largest bank in Southeast Asia in terms of capitalization. It is even stronger than our government backed Maybank biggrin.gif

I thought those 2% will pay to master/visa company......
Then what can earn from master/visa???
The 2%, 2.5%, 3% commission paid by the merchant to the bank is shared by 3 parties namely the card issuing bank, the card processing terminal provider bank and VISA International/MasterCard International.

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 16 2010, 02:08 PM)
Some merchants in overseas like China even impose 6% surcharge. I would either walk away or pay by cash if I come across these merchants.
Speaking of China, i really hope they will start issuing UnionPay card here in Malaysia. It makes payment in China much more convenient. BOC has started issuing UnionPay credit card in Singapore for quite sometime already.

QUOTE(convoluted-spirit @ Sep 16 2010, 03:19 PM)
no my main point is that possible to apply any credit card with just 3 months of working period? I don't mind the low credit limit as long as it is the card with 16 digits printed on it with either master or visa logo
You should try at the bank that your salary is currently paid into. Maybank for instance, always approve an annual fee free credit card to those whose salary is paid into Maybank every month.

Bank of China in Malaysia has actually issued China UnionPay prepaid card. You can top up money in Malaysia and use the card in China.
Oh ... are they still issuing the card ? Their Malaysian website isn't very helpful. In fact it is as if the website was designed in the early 90s compared to their Singaporean one. Really hope they will be more active in the local retail banking scene. Give us the consumers more choices biggrin.gif

I think SCB platinum card has more benefits than their new world mastercard right?

Don't think so. You get 2x Choice Points when you charge more than RM1,500/month to your World MasterCard while their Platinum card gives you only 1x Choice Point regardless of total amount spent in any month.

QUOTE(kohvivian @ Sep 17 2010, 10:20 AM)
What do you guys think about HSBC Amanah Platinum Card? Worth to apply?
Not much difference from the HSBC VISA Platinum except that it gives you 1% discount on all overseas purchases. Anyway, judging from your username. I assume you're a Chinese ? Then i don't think it is advisable for you to get this card. There have been complaints that their cards were rejected in certain non-Halal places and this could pose a problem to you too.

The card is still in the market. But you have to go the bank to buy the China UnionPay prepaid card. The card can also be linked to your savings account with BOC, where the prepaid reload can be done automatically if the amount of your card falls below a specific level.
Thanks ! tongue.gif

One more thing, is it easy to open a savings account at BOC ? Any ATM card to go with the account ? Certain banks require me to sign up for their credit card or personal loan before allowing me to open a savings account with them.

Don't forget that SCB Business Platinum cc gives 0.5% cash back on all retail transactions (except petrol) on top of the normal choice points. Furthermore, SCB Business Platinum cc also gives 3x choice points for overseas transactions as opposed to 2x choice points given by Preferred Banking World MC.
Must i have a company to be eligible for the Business VISA Platinum ?

wah first time hearing this man!
Don't be too surprised. Went to UOB Bank to open a Basic Savings Account but was advised to open the E-Account instead. This E-Account comes with minimum balance fee which i do not like. So i insisted on having the Basic Savings Account but they told me they usually only open this account for their existing customers such as those already have a mortgage, personal loan, bancassurance or credit card with them. They told me if i insist on opening the Basic Savings Account, they would need an approval from the branch manager. It was around CNY and they the branch manager was on leave. They told me to come back a week later which i did not.

shud i help him or not? any risk? i dont hv CC yet
The risk is so great that you're going to regret it. He was a defaulter and he is going to tarnish your credit record too sooner or later. Besides, he can't use the credit card because you're the card owner. It is illegal for him to use your card.

If a bank does not want to open any Basic account, you have the right to ask for a letter stating the reason why and with the letter, you can then file a complaint with the Financial Mediation Bureau.

http://www.fmb.org.my/pc03.complaint.htm
Does it really work ? I think many will complain Citibank. Many of you also know that Citibank won't open an account for you unless you have an existing relationship with them (credit card, loan etc.).

This only applies to basic accounts because banks are required by BNM to open basic accounts for anyone who wants to have one. I think the bank can reject if you want to open more than one of the same type with them.

Refer here:
http://www.bankinginfo.com.my/_system/medi...ng_services.pdf
Banks such as Bank of America and Deutsche Bank offer Basic Savings Account too but they only open this account to their corporate clients.

It's sad that ocbc online banking don't allow bill payment using credit cards. The only way to earn your rebate is to make it an auto-pay.
Alternatively, add the OCBC Titanium MasterCard into your M2U and charge everything that accepts a third party credit card to your OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Hi MilesAndMore, sorry for digging very old post in Credit Card Thread V7 where you mentioned you have done bill payments using other bank's credit card via M2U.

Yes. Indeed i have smile.gif

QUOTE(roy918 @ Sep 18 2010, 11:23 PM)
Somehow M2U website stated doesn't accept other bank's credit card for TNB and TM bill payment. So can you please confirm this?
Last time it was possible to make bill payments for all sorts of Telekom bills (fixed line, Streamyx etc.) to Telekom Malaysia Berhad via M2U using credit card issued by other bank. However, only VISA was accepted then but looks like they do not even accept VISA now sad.gif Anyway, you can pay still your bills online using any of your credit card through www.tmonline.com.my. You will first have to set up an account and you will be able to view your latest bill online. I've been paying my TM bills via www.tmonline.com.my for more than 2 years already smile.gif

As for TNB, i don't think they ever accepted payment using another bank's credit card through M2U.
