how come the citibank platinum CL is so low? then I think the highest CL give to platinum holder is still hsbc 30k ohh right
That is not the highest. It is actually the lowest. All HSBC Platinum and Premier credit card start with RM30,000 of credit line.

Just checked it through self-service system. The status is still in process  doh.gif .
It was Saturday yesterday and today is Sunday. If the card is not yet approved last Friday, then you should check again tomorrow not today.

very upset with HSBC. seems very hard to get in touch with their CS via phone. forever there is no one picking up
Seems to have many such complains since they let go of the 100+ operators in Leboh Ampang early this year.

Oh i didn't know about that. I hardly use my HSBC card - just called to request for annual fee waiver.

Any tips on request an upgrade to Platinum?

Primary card i use is Citi Plat as there is a dedicated less wait time number if i ever need to call them smile.gif
What is the credit limit of your Citi Platinum ? HSBC VISA Platinum comes with at least RM30,000 of credit limit. May be you can use your more than 1-year old Citi Platinum to request for the upgrade ?

QUOTE(underpressure @ Aug 30 2010, 06:27 PM)
Been doing some research, it seems you just need to earn more than 4k monthly salary to qualify for a Citibank Cash Back Plat Card. Can anyone verify this?

Yes. That is true as the minimum per annum salary required is RM48,000.

QUOTE(underpressure @ Aug 30 2010, 06:27 PM)
Which other bank offers the lowest requirement for their Platinum card?

Standard Chartered Bank.

QUOTE(underpressure @ Aug 30 2010, 06:27 PM)
And is it possible to switch from card to another even when you don't meet the requirement? For example your salary is 5k, the min for Citi Plat is 4k where as HSBC is 10k, after using it for a year you switch to hsbc, will hsbc approve it?
You need to earn at least RM12,500/month to qualify for the HSBC VISA Platinum, not RM10,000/month. Anyway, if you intend to use an existing Platinum credit card that is more than 1 year old. The card must comes with a minimum credit limit of RM30,000. Even if you meet their VISA Platinum requirements, there is still no guarantee that you will get it as everyone knows it is hard to get a HSBC credit card.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Aug 30 2010, 11:16 PM)
Well not sure about hard to get a HSBC Visa Plat credit card or need RM12.5K/month salary. Got mine HSBC Visa Plat at MidVallley in 2007 because an agent ask me for "help" while was shopping there. All I did was gave him my name card, filled in annual salary > RM100K without any proof and signed on the dotted lines. No calls or whatever from HSBC to verify I applied for the card and they gave me CL more than RM30K, maybe it is because I have a few cards where CL > RM30K. I don't even have a HSBC account.

Most probably it was your other credit cards that help you to get the HSBC credit card then because it's either you give them your salary slip with a monthly salary of no less than RM12,000 or just give them your IC number so that they can check your CCRIS record. It has got to be your credit cards that with > RM30k credit limit that did the trick.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Aug 30 2010, 11:16 PM)
On the other hand, my dad who has more than twice my annual income than me also have HSBC Credit Card but his CL is less than mine hmm.gif
No one can really understand how they determine just how much credit limit they want to grant you. I overheard someone complained to the customer service officer inside the Premier Centre that their credit card HQ rejected his request for higher credit line for his MasterCard despite having RM500k of FD with them.

I remember someone asking which card allows it holder access to airport lounges worldwide but did a search here and the older thread but nothing. Can you please post this info in the first page so no need ask all the time.

Alliance - access to KLIA no limit.
Citibank Premier Miles - worldwide airport lounge twice a year (saw thier website need to apply before hand).
It's David's duty now biggrin.gif

Not sure about OCBC but certain banks do not call for verification. For instance, HSBC and Maybank.

When you apply for a new card and enclose information on an existing owned card, what can the applied bank see from the existing card?  Brief info like credit limit, or detailed info like transactions, payments, etc?
They will be able to see how many active credit cards you have, the credit limit of each of the active credit cards, any mortgage or hire purchase and any missed payments in the past 12 months etc.

Anyone got the info UOB going to launch Preferred World Mastercard and Visa Signature soon in Malaysia?
HSBC Visa Platinum only need RM100K annual income to apply, looks like they are going to launch new premium credit card too.
I kind of doubt HSBC will launch a new premium credit card in Malaysia anytime soon. If they were to launch it, i'd expect Hong Kong to get it first but there is still no sign that they are going to introduce any new premium credit cards there. Many other banks in Hong Kong such as Bank of East Asia, Wing Lung Bank and even Standard Chartered offer credit cards that ranked higher than Platinum credit card for quite some time already. Heck, even its own subsidiary Hang Seng Bank offers VISA Infinite but it doesn't.

And regarding the UOB Bank World MasterCard and VISA Signature. It's good to see them offering more types of credit card but they really need to review their UniRinggit program. It sucks big time. Points required are the highest in the industry.

You may only apply for a supplementary card when the principal card is approved.

Or simply open a Basic Savings Account. This way the first two IBG in a month will only be charged RM0.50 instead of RM2. And if you use Citibank or Standard Chartered, you will only be charged RM0.50/IBG and mind you that RM0.50 is their normal IBG fee. Both Citibank and Standard Chartered charge the lowest overall IBG fee in town.

Basic savings account is a good idea.
However, maintaining an additional account will cost RM8 for that annual fee am I right?
May I know which bank (easily available) offers zero annual fee savings account?
All the banks in Malaysia offer an ATM card annual fee free Basic Savings Account (8 free ATM cash withdrawals only every month) with the exception of EON Bank.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Sep 5 2010, 12:00 AM)
Today I went to HLB to pay my CC for the first time.  Used to the cheque deposit machines with scanning capabilities of various banks, I was shocked to find HLB still using ancient machines to accept cheques in an envelope together with a cheque deposit form.  I went to the counters (no customers at that time) and tried to process my payment, but was told I must use the machines.  Citibank had these too, but at least they didn't require forms or that special envelope.
Regarding the cheque deposit machine, Public Bank and HSBC are the only two banks in Malaysia using strictly only the one with image scanning capability. If i'm not mistaken, EON Bank is also using only this kind of machine too but i am not very sure. Banks such as Maybank and CIMB Bank are using both the ancient one and the advanced one with image scanning capability.

u know wat, the HLB here in my hometown has its cheque deposit machine inside the premise. Can't deposit cheque outside working hours. The absurd thing is it has no cash deposit machine yet.

As a result of such poor service, its customers are declining by days. Most of them turned to PBB and CIMB.
LOL ! I think this is the case in many of their branches. Out of 3 of the HLB branches in Kota Kinabalu, 2 of the branches have cheque deposit machine only but as you pointed out. It is located inside the banking hall and we may only use it during office hours and the other one, which is located inside the city is the only HLB branch to offer cash and cheque deposit machines doh.gif

HLB used to be the preferred banking partner of most Chinese merchants due to their ability to communicate in Chinese dialects. It seems PBB is getting further n further ahead of HLB in terms of banking convenience n effiency especially.
Public Bank has always been far ahead of Hong Leong Bank biggrin.gif

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 5 2010, 08:27 AM)
You'll be surprised that even in KL, a lot of old HLB branches do not have cheque deposit machines outside the banking halls, e.g. HLB branch near Jalan Imbi, Jalan Puchong and Maju Shopping Centre, Medan Tuanku area, just to name a few. HLB seems not bother to upgrade their operations. Besides, most banks have employed security guards at their ATM machines at night but I do not see any HLB branches have this security feature. This shows how stingy HLB is and it's truly a typical China man company.
LOL ! I suppose the current model is still working fine for them. That is why they still don't bother to change unless it is necessary. Anyway, i prefer a bank with lots of self banking machines. This is why CIMB Bank is now my main bank for day to day transaction whereas Public Bank is the bank i put all my fixed deposits. Basically it means CIMB Bank gets the low yield business while Public Bank gets the high yield one biggrin.gif

Anyway, has anyone received his OCBC Titanium MasterCard already ?
