Just recently purchased My Passport WD 1TB 2.5 at one of the shops in Lowyat (last 2 days). On that day itself, tested the hdd and working fine. Right until yesterday during the file transfer session, the hdd self shut by itself. Tried to unplug and plug back, same result. Call up the company (One of the seller hp), he said I have to sent back to WD.

Now here's the issue :-

Where's the place? (Must I go down to PJ the WD building there?)
Tried looking at WD official website, no address in Malaysia.
Even phone number also no one answering. I need help here.

RM400.00 and warranty only covered by WD. Not to the company because it's back door deal. I survey the whole lowyat the cheapest is RM429 for My Passport WD 1TB 2.5 at ThunderMatch (4 Floor). If u manage to find cheaper then my price at lowyat, please let me know.

- I don't think so. I bought a WD ext 3.5" 1TB hdd from all IT. Used it for a couple of days and it stopped working. I immediately called their toll free CS number. The CS asked for details like serial no and date of purchase and gave me another no to call. I did so and was asking about RMA procedures when this CS said that it may be just a problem with the power adaptor. (These techs should know. Maybe they had a particularly bad batch of power adaptors.) He asked for my address and 2-3 days later I received a courier package from Singapore. It was a new adaptor. I plugged it in switched it on and voila! the ext hdd works flawlessly. Thumbs up for WD customer support! thumbup.gif

Is your 2.5" on ext power supply? Maybe its just the adaptor that died. Try suggesting that to the WD CS if you call them up. No harm if they let you try troubleshooting with a new adaptor. wink.gif

Same my WD TB also kaput a month back, didnt had the time to find where to RMA, other than in Penang =.=..

Anywhere in KL can?
I lost my receipt from Czone, but i still cna go there right? since i sorta purchased from there... but no receipt only.

Just to share.

Viewnet (4th floor) lowyat plaza extend their after sales service for our convinence. Pay extra Rm10.00 they will make 1 to 1 exchange should anything happen to our harddisk for the first year only (I think valid for only 2.5" WD HD).

Can claim normal warranty but gonna take a while if we use their services.
