Please take note that visa IS required.

It's just that we are given Visa On Arrival.

Malaysians are automatically given the Schengen Visa for EU.
For my Thai and Indo friends, getting the Schengen Visa is such a great achievement. It takes alot of paperwork for them to get it and a fee too.

90 Days without any special requirements nor fees.

Guys,

Anyone know in general how "30 day stays without visa" works? (Specifically, for South Africa).

Let's say malaysians don't need a visa for stays up to 30 days.

Before the end of the 30 days, if I exit the country and re-enter, do I have a fresh 30 days? Is there any limit to the number of times I can do this (or is it country-specific?)

There's no need for visa for New Zealand unless your stay is more than 30 days.

To answer the post above, yes and no. But then, you'll be questioned when you reach the customs clearance area I expect.

Visa is a permit that entitles you to stay legally in a foreign country at a certain period of time. Passport is like international "IC" which enable you to go other countries. If its a visa free countries, then you can stay there and leave the country when the time is up. Only those holding residency permit can stay as long as they want

Or simply put, the following are pain in the ass countries where you have to apply for a visa before departure.
Australia
PR China (i.e. not HK, Macau, Taiwan)
Japan
Laos*
USA
Other countries that few Malaysians have heard of, what more travel to.

*a few years ago, not sure about now.

You can stay in NZ for 90 days without visa. Thats what the immigration stamps in my passport said. Always remember to read your stamp very carefully as some officers may give you a shorter period. They have the discretion to do so. I was only given 10 days by a Brazilian immigration officer once without visa. Another one gave me 90.

Portugal is in the EU schengen area and you dont need a visa. Your flight to Germany is considered a domestic flight as it is a flight within the schengen area. You can cross the border without the passport if you want. Ive entered Denmark from Sweden without a passport before.

Depends on the country. However, the onus is on you to convince the immigation that you ate not working there illegally. South Africa may not care that much but I will salute you if you can sucessfully stay the full six months in the UK , go to Paris for a day and can still renter. immigration is no longer that stupid and there r a lot of people that have tried to renter Singapore from JB after 30 days and most of them were refused entry
