owh sh*t, that was the same case with my house too.. it was last 2 weeks when suddenly i heard very noisy sound (like a heavy rain) upstairs. at first was thinking might be raining heavily outside, but didnt see any water in the compound inside the house. then i went upstair, OMG! the water coming from the ceiling. very panic and went to shut the outside main meter. my floor board was effected too. the contractor came last 2 days to check, and the replacement floor board will start next week (hopefully).
the light upstairs also effected. so i ask contractor to change them too.
asked the Mahasil guy, what went wrong, he also having hard time to explain. the only possible explanation is due to sudden surge from Syabas tank. he mentioned that our pipe + tank was equipped with max of 100psi pressure. when they check the water outside routinely, it is just about 40 psi. so they also not sure.
and for sure i ask them to repaint my ceiling back, and probably the wall too. it has a yellowish stain due to this water mark. crap.
and now feeling quite phobia to leave my house without shutting the main meter. sigh~
@ jeghui: neighbour, when u plan to move in?. come on, quick. hehe.. or u plan to rent it out?
sudden surge from Syabas tank is just an excuse since it is already control at the initial valve to the housing area ... if surge then the control valve oso spoil edi... think off to install water pump immediately once they claim piping is ok edi... after that only my wardrobe come in... what do u guys think? sharing is caring the light upstairs also effected. so i ask contractor to change them too.

I think you should let it all run properly, so you'll know of any defects now rather than later when u've moved in. But it's just my thought.
Roger
true oso.. never shut the main pipe... better now than later!Roger
