Just to clarify things up. It's not minimum but it's "recommended" hardware specs

•Android’s split into 2 branches becomes official. 3.0 for top of the line/high end devices. Cheap, low-end mass market handsets will keep Android 2.1/2.2

then hope all software and games support both version. dont just support 3.0 version only

then what will happen to those tablets using 1.5 ?? Geee...it will become dinosaur era...hehehe... lots of chinese brand tablets will be affected. Including Archos Home Tablet 7 inch n 5 inch.

Why there are only small number of OS version for each 1.x and 2.x? Why not continue with 2.3 until 2.9 first?
Or maybe it shows huge performance increasing from each batch??

The releases are named alphabetically.
1.5 - Cupcake
1.6 - Donut
2.1 - Eclair
2.2 - Froyo
3.0 - Gingerbread

that is because 3.0 is a huge jump so they make it 3.0 instead of 2.2(but still they haven't confirmed whether they put it as version 3 right?)

btw,before Gingerbread release,here comes the next codename..

by the time google announce 3.0 gingerbread officially at the end of the year (rumored) it will take at least a few months to get it ready to release, another few more mnths by manufacturer (htc,samsung etc) to update. should be the right timing..

im guessing gingerbread will be ready by mid next year?

As what I heard from a lot of sources, Android 3.0 will only applicable to any Android tablet after this while Gingerbread or 2.3 is their upcoming OS update for smartphone after Froyo completely unleashed..

Afaik official firmwares are released yet but its around the corner. Honestly idk

its been quite long since froyo released and no news bout gingerbread until now except untrusted leaks or rumors
