Makes sense for those models to be made here especially since this part of the world tend to favor sedan cars than hatchbacks

QUOTE(gregy @ Dec 11 2010, 04:16 AM) Protecting the existing market is one thing, but to do that and forgo a larger, more sustainable future market share is IMHO not very sound business sense. One can take the example of the family oriented Golf Plus as an example; you can hardly see any on the road. Thats true but unfortunately Malaysia is still a small market for them. Their focus right now is in China where they sold more than a million cars there accounting for 38% of their total car sales globally and they have 9 factories thereAnywhere else, a Veedub is just another 'people's car', but over here it is associated with performance n speed. If u take the fun out of a Veedub it might not sell as well, even if it's priced low due to CKD. Existing owners might feel cheated if they do decide to assemble said models here, but in the long run if the brand grows substantially in popularity, the level of service may improve due to SCs having more experience dealing with problems, not to mention the cost of parts might come down. So in the long run, assembling the Golf, Roc etc locally could end up being a blessing in disguise. Ironically, should VW become a mainstream player here, existing owners might also enjoy better resale value. Looking at it from the logical standpoint; it doesn't matter to VAG whether we get the cars CBU or CKD, cos they still earn the same/similar for each car sold, regardless. It's the tax that we pay that makes it expensive. So, (example) if they can currently sell 50 units a month CBU, and projections show that they can triple or quadruple that with CKD, why not? |

QUOTE(dARKaNGEl @ Dec 12 2010, 12:33 AM) MEX at night, day time got a number of speed traps liao on the highwayAdded on December 12, 2010, 8:09 am QUOTE(futobuta @ Dec 12 2010, 07:35 AM) My technician at the service centre adviced me to not get too excited with the performance of my new car. Asked me to drive it around for about 2-3months first before pushing it. He's not afraid that the car might not be able to take the pushing... but rather afraid that noob like me might not be able to handle the power n speed. I totally agree with him on that. Go signup for the next track day at Sepang hehe This post has been edited by Mavik: Dec 12 2010, 08:09 AM |

QUOTE(dARKaNGEl @ Dec 12 2010, 03:14 PM) really? around what time u encounter the speed trap before? speed trap means got road block also? like that dangerous lo coz ppl all speeding suddenly have to brake hard It was daytime, not the road block one. Just the camera one and the summons sent to my home i usually take it after work hours, either in the evening or night and so far *touch wood* never encounter speed trap b4 Some stretches are for 90km only so even at 110km also kena liao! QUOTE(r3kahsttub @ Dec 13 2010, 10:54 AM) speed traps? on the MEX? i take the MEX to work daily and i've never noticed anything before (or got any tickets in the past 10 months)... Well I only got 1 before, so now drive very carefully there. I think it was closer to one of the festive period. but yes, the MEX is a good place for banging out top speeds. QUOTE(bluescreamer @ Dec 13 2010, 10:22 PM) Erm.. I think the rear lights for gti are smoked/darker than the tsi's. I know jwrx here has some LED rear lights coming in. Why don't you PM him and ask for the quote there. Btw anyone changed their rear lights to the LED ones? Cheapest I asked was 2300. QUOTE(Yan @ Dec 13 2010, 10:41 PM) same shape but GTI is darker (tinted / smoked) ... anybody knows where to get our rear lamp smoked ? Why get it smoked? Just change to the Golf R LED lights |

QUOTE(futobuta @ Dec 20 2010, 01:32 PM) Maybe change the front bumper with the foglamps. The round ones don't look too 'sharp'. If do that then you don't get the headlamp water spray as well as the fog lamp functionality when you are turning Ask him to drill holes there and put some after market DRL's |

QUOTE(hacksrider @ Dec 21 2010, 05:45 PM) "Both parties are looking at starting production in the fourth quarter of 2011 with the assembly of the Passat models followed by Polo and Jetta, in accordance with VWAG's specification." I wonder which version of the Polo will they assemble, the 1.4 maybe? Makes sense to use the 1.4 so that the Jetta can also use the 1.4 hence having a easier supply chain. I guess until right now, it will be just pure speculation then will vw second-hand value affected after this ? especially polo gti which will be launched next year VW is really pushing for top car maker in the world by 2018! |

QUOTE(johnappleseed @ Dec 22 2010, 01:49 AM) When you are cruising at say 90km/h flip the switch on the left of the steering. That will turn the cruise control on. Then just press the buttons at the end of the cruise control stick to manage your cruise control speed. |
