theres no 'best' strategy against 1 race. you should create units that will counter his unit. not building the same unit every game and let your enemy counter your unit. basically, just scout whats the army composition of your enemy usign an observer then counters it.

if not, just 4 gate everygame.

well, against zerg, IMO the most important factor is FF....as zergs need surround to win.

all terrans and zerg are dead in NA server.....got like 18 protoss out of 20 quick matches in NA.....

while having 18 zerg out of 20 players in SEA server.....

WTF IS THIS SHIT MAN....

and i hate ZvZs (im a zerg in SEA server)...TvP still ok but not 18/20 man(im a terran in NA)....

i was pretty angry when i hit his collosus stalker ball with my hydra roach corrupter about 200 vs 150 3-4 times and i starved out with 5 base at xel naga cavern......

i can see that you really like stalker lol ^^

even when lings are swarming in early stage, you still want to warp in 1 stalker lol...instead of full zealot sentry force

i mean way earlier, when the lings are attacking his half done nexus at expo...but then his game sense damn imba......i was so confused when i saw him throwing down like 8 gates after he scouted the 30+ lings....

in PvZ, basically you need to destroy all the corruptors and make sure your collosus is still alive. your collosus with thermal lance upgrade can just wreak all the remaining ground army

i watch back the VOD of lyn vs banban, the final engagement was 200 vs 200 with 4 ghost, EMP basically wreaked them up lol

i just played a game, i go for ghost after 3 rax and expand, go for a timing push after 4 ghost off 2 techlabs with mana upgrade. crushed through 3 collosus ( about 100 food vs 100 food) and got the game with losing 5-8 marauders...

maybe now if closer spawn location, i should go for ghost before vikings....

try not to play so many 1 base strats. start playing 3 gate opening as your standard play. then derive strategies out from your 3 gate play to defend all kind of rushes your opponent throw at you. as day 9 says, defend as thing as possible, just make enuf unit to make u survive. learn how to win 30 zergling with perfect bulding placement and 5 senty 1 zealot.

owh, you didnt mention about starting play so i kinda misunderstood, sry.

anyway 3 gate 1 robo might be too much for 6 minutes mark....you will probably get a relatively low expansion if you are continuously producing units out of your structures. maybe 1 gate 1 robo 1 more gate, then out obs to see if they are rushing, then pop your nexus. but 3 gate expand is the staple PvZ strat now....because it can fend off almost all zerg rushes with good micro and building placement. watch PvZ games of Tester and HuK, they are good in this.

i thought current PvZ trend is all about 3 gate sentry expand which is HuK's staple build (his best matchup is PvZ iirc)? FE or speed 1st both will die to well placed forcefield....saw somewhere in TL forum idra came up with burrow movement which iirc HuK die to this strat on last season code A. was it against Lorisa? 2 base burrow roach timing to eat up all the sentries b4 robo...

have you tried this out? maybe this is a good strat? im not a UPtoss tho sad.gif

but that just put me into thinking......cuz i will normally just go for FE Speedling opening and consider the timing the 4 gate reach the zerg's base based on the replay, i will have enuf lings and spines to hold that off while waiting for my roach warren to finish. then im already on 2 base and the toss is still in 1 base.

dear, from what i understand, PvZ is in favor of P unless he is a btr player than you to even start off. if you 4 gate, a 14 hatch 14 pool zerg need to execute perfectly to stop it. need 2 spines once expo is done and cannot drone too hard, over 21 drones are too dangerous in early game. i dno if your opponent hatch 1st frequently or not but i rarely encounter zergs who go 21 food hatch and above. 3 gate expand relies heavily on your sentry usage. practice your sentry usage more against AI and the 5th challenge in single player. it is highly defensive and its only counter right now should be burrow roach timing which is super rare.

a good way to learn is to check what liquid HuK has on the 4 minute mark, 5.30 minute mark, 7.30 minute mark then compare it to your own blind build order against an easy AI. if you can get even, you are good to go for some laddering.

for late game, collosus rapes zerg.

threads in starcraft forum are always the same. arguement over different level of play...4 gates still work perfectly fine in low level game and has the highest winning rate while in higher levels, your opponent is already good enuf to fend off your 4 gate without loss.

theres no point to argue over different level of meta game -.-

i watch GSL religiously. i had swear to my parents i will only watch GSL everyday and play just enuf starcraft to clear my bonus pool everyday (which is probably less than 3 games) till my sem break. so, i literally gave up all my 2-3 hours of starcraft daily into watching GSL instead of laddering into top percentiles....can only cheong during sem breaks lol


Added on April 11, 2011, 7:13 pm-quaz, evo will probably still crushes through you....hell siewkaiz is a solid diamond protoss too, with i guess majority of us here discussing strats are at least a solid diamond with a splinter of masters.
