guys, whats the diff between 7g and 6vg2?
*
in terms of performance, it's the same. Cherry MX Black switches.
the difference is just the 2X USB1.1 ports, Audio and Mic input jack and wrist rest.

Wanna ask the SS masters here. I just got the SS Ikari Optical yesterday, yup really comfy to use but 1 problem.

I set the mouse to 800/1600 dpi setting and even though its on 1600 dpi, it feels kinda slow compared to the MX518... I have to set the mouse pointer speed to max in order to get it across a 20" monitor..

Is it something wrong with the mouse? or do I need to change my mouse surface?? currently using a cheapo cloth/rubber mat.

Thanks in advance!!
*
try going to control panel and change back your mouse sensitivity, I think you switch it a lil bit too high?
if your MX518 can glide at your cheapo cloth mat, there shouldn't be any problem with your Ikari Optical.

I think u missed my point lolx... i mean that the SS Ikari is having difficulty gliding across the 20" even though its set at 1600 dpi.. feels like its set at less than 800dpi...so I have to move it more compared to the MX518
*
I know what you mean laugh.gif

your control panel, try to increase your mouse sensitivity. I think you lower it because MX518 is on 1800dpi which is a lil bit too extreme. SS Ikari max is 1600dpi only, you mentioned that you feel it's less than 800dpi means it's the com mouse sensitivity settings lahh rclxub.gif

I installed the driver from the CD provided actually, yeah its 400/800dpi out of the box and I set it to 800/1600dpi from the software.. is it got new version of the driver online?

I don't mind the lag between the transitions but as u said at 1600dpi 1inch movement  can make the pointer go from one end to another already...

Anything else I can try?
*
Yup, try downloading the new firmware at steelseries.com
my Ikari Optic no problem..

they provided a CD for you? unsure.gif

Teflon icon_rolleyes.gif if you're not happy with it, just add skates.
remember, SKATES not FEET.

it's the same, both refers to the same thing no?
just depends on the way you put on. either put on the original feet or remove original feet and put in.
*
Nope, it different.
You stick the skates onto the feet, whereas you stick the feet into the mouse after the previous feet got burned out.

well, the problem is most people thought it's the same and can't differentiate it when buying so they bought the wrong stuff in the end.
Skates is a VERY VERY thing piece of teflon.
Feet is a thick teflon to stick it onto your mouse.

to avoid a flamewar..

since you mentioned HyperGlide, I'll show you.
QUOTE
What are Mouse skates?

Mouse skates are strips of smooth (usually teflon) tape stuck to mice feet to make them smoother and thus increasing accuracy ingame. How mouse skates work is that they reduce the amount of friction between the mouse and the mousepad. As a side benefit, mouse skates also protect the original mouse feet and mousepad from wear. This helps gamers save mouse and mousepad replacement costs..

http://www.hyperglide.net/?hg=whatarethey
like I said earlier, stick it to the mouse feet.
