I've done some big apps installation and now I left with 115 HP memory. Quite good I think. Tho I hope it'll stay at 133 mb. How do I check how much the ext partition left? N which one is installed fully to phone?
*
Anyone?

and btw, i'm happy with my 5.0 NexTSense!

Happily installing apps and games with the ext3 partition...biggrin.gif

when you have A2SD it will automatically installed all apps in there. to check the A2SD space just use the quick system info and you'll know that your ext partition is being used already.

Mod install location, when some apps doesnt install automatically to the A2SD then use it.

if you have Spare Parts in your ROM you can set your location for A2SD but the default is what you're looking for so dont touch it.

Btw guys, where to get Android keyboard eh? and swype too...want to try it la...

For contacts i always use the Phone apps in the phone, export to SD. or sync it with my google only. and SMS using SMS Backup and Restore. Titanium backup only for apps for me, though they did restore all of them when i first use it.

Damn swype still beta eh? i guess its closed now as i see in their site.

Clarify this : apps to sd two types. One is install to the fat32 portion , here you can view all your install files. The other type is install in the hidden partition commonly known as sd ext.
Depend on the rom, some gave you both options to choose. Froyo by default will install in the fat32 portion

Some rom will only install apps to sd ext , such you need to partition your card. If your rom do not install to sd ext, then no need to partition card

Modinstall is actual force install to sd. Some apps as not develop for sd install will appear as a blank logo in home screen if put there as a shortcut. App will still irk fine. I find using mod install unreliable and at times cause phone unstable. After reinstall app back to phone memory problem goes away.

All system apps and widgets must install to phone not card

Question always ask: which is better? Actually no go final answer here. Based on my personal experience testing all the rooms , I find the sd ext is more reliable , and stable but that's just me.

+1 for this rclxms.gif . and i prefer the sd ext too! rclxm9.gif

1. No, everything remains the same after you rooted (it just gives you super user permission). Data is only lost when you do a wipe before flashing a new ROM

2. Flash with the RUU - RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe. Link here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667

3. Nandroid in the recovery mode can do that (you can backup image back to the original state of last backup ROM). But if you're talking about restoring settings to a new ROM (after you do a wipe), use Titanium backup. In general, the steps are:

- Root
- Backup with Titanium backup
- Boot into recovery
- Nandroid backup
- Wipe
- Flash new ROM
- Restore settings with Titanium Backup

If something fails while flashing new ROM, restore the Nandroid image
*
and do note when flashing ROM you can still recover using the nandroid backup. but you need to be extremely careful when flashing radio, if you screwed, you'll need to send it back to htc/sis...flashing radio is easy but have dangerous effect if you're screwed.

Yeah and flashing radio usually takes place when you want to use a ROM that require the latest or specific radio, else you dont need to flash it though.

the steps, as said by those above, are the same except on radio, the consequences are bit worst if you screw up. But the probablity to screw it is very tiny. Just make sure you dont touch! dont move! your phone at all. i flash ROMs freely but for radio flashing, i take good care of the steps. and battery should be 75% and above to be safe.

When you flash using the official RUU, everything will be back to stock, as the same when you purchased it.
Exactly. The consequences and risk are actually very small nowadays unless you screw up big time. Just read the instructions given carefully before you do it. Anyway, just for a refence, except for maliqu3's blog, this is one of the steps that i follow to flash and root my phone. Its actually very easy and listed out step by step. Follow exactly what they say and you will be fine.

Quite same guide when i use for my first rooting and flashing but different site.

QUOTE(Raiko @ Aug 10 2010, 05:28 PM)
hello guys, i got something to ask before i buy the desire.

1) whats the difference between this phone and the nexus one ? and

2)if im on 3g, will the phone be hotter like my previous milestone ?

3)one more, can the phone last the whole day with 3g + ebuddy 24/7 in the background ?

thanks and i really need your response.
*
1) Desire is newer, nexus one older, but they are brothers! the closest one i've ever seen...hehe...and nexus one are not produced anymore. well let others tell more about it as I have only use Desire only so far. Never touched N1 but i would love to!

2)If you mean 3g by browsing and such, i never experience those, as i'm online most of the time...and i'm pretty sure Desire dont have the front camera so i know you mean the browsing and such right? huhu...tongue.gif just make sure dont use it while you're charging, or else it'll be hot like a BBQ...tongue.gif

3)Depends. if you use lots of widgets that sync at specific time intervals on your homscreen, then might not. Not sure bout this, i have mine at 12 hours at most using a custom rom that is. with the stock rom, only 6-8 hours. some can get to 2-3 days but usually they turn off their wifi/data while not in use so thats why.

At the very first use you'll notice the battery will drain fast as hell. but in a week, it gets better. and there's a method to bump charge your battery too! i found my battery up to 10 hours so far with heavy use; 4 - 6 hours on wifi/data, normal msg/call usage (sometimes chatting with girlfriend, you know how long can it be..tongue.gif), youtube, camera/video recording(720p), and downloading stuffs from market too!...10 hours is quite good la for me.

err.. actually how do u use this 720p? is it big diff when using 720p?
*
The difference is huge when u tranfer it to ur pc. I can see my girlfren's performance on stage on fullscreen except with slower framrate but still the quality is very good. Its like the quality of the bluray hd movie i downloaded but with slower fps. Hope it'll get better soo. I'm using -nextsense 5. 0 btw. And 3 mins for 170mb how cool is tht.

Where to get stock Froyo, if you dont mind me asking... This thread has been going too fast for me to follow.
Nextsense Froyo is something I've heard positive feedback. Apparently, it's comparable or better than LeeDroid mods. I am leaning towards it at the moment.
Modaco Froyo rom doesnt seem to be listed in the XDA Developer website. May I ask where can I find it?
*
Modaco runs in its own forum by paul n its not under xda. N link as provided by KTYC.

About nextsense or leedroid. I think u need to try them both actually cuz u'll never satisfied witg people opinions unless u feel it by urself. I love nextsense cuz its stable, fast n the 720p is nice.

No choppy choppy sound? i took my 720p video with class 2. and the sound seems to be lagging either behind/forward, and heard a bit of choppy sound. people said you'll only notice the difference in 720p when u use class 6 and above. But, nice one for your then!

Huh? Then which 1 should i flash? Coz in the forum only r5 is available. O shud i flash leedroid or other rom from xda?
*
r5 is still cool, most stable modaco ROM. if you want r8, you need to donate, then can use the online kitchen. if you want the closest one to the stock froyo, find it in XDA. Got 2 or 3 devs with a good ROM.

but hey, if you still want from modaco, here - http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...h-radio-deodex/

Thx bro, gona try modaco again. Any good rom u recommend from XDA coz there are too many and i dont which 1 to choose  tongue.gif. I always use the 1 where majority uses it  blush.gif
*
Majority use LeeDroid, Neophyte, and NexTSense(by Neophyte too), still got many good ROMs, depending on what you want. I seriously advice you to try each of them if you're interested in any of them. No point have someone recommend it for you cuz you wont satisfied until you try(i felt it so i know, i used to ask like this too)

If you want a ROM without sense, OpenDesire and DeFrost got them. NexTSense 5.0 got both sense and launcher2 though..

I'm using NexTSense v5.0 though. See my sig for my ROM history.

Good Luck!
