Hi,

Thanks. I already bought a RT-N12HP today after you suggested but I am not sure how to setup for Unifi. When I used the setup wizard and enter the username and password for pppoe, I get a connection timeout. Can you refer me to a guide to setup for unifi.

Thank you.

How is the signal strength for RT-N13U? How much is the price now? Enough to cover a double storey house? Currently the stock Unifi router cannot cover the whole house, I put it at downstairs living room and I cannot get a decent signal in my room which is upstairs.
*
Hi prescott2006,

RT-N13U is EOL already.

You can refer to the follow link for available models.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2651405

You can have a look on RT-N12HP if you require better wifi signal with decent price.

Thank you

Hello..can u suggest to me a modem for 12 user? Using vip 5 unifi..and the problem is i keep getting lag, high ping till reach 1000ms because other user streaming video and torrent..can i set 2.4hz for streaming and 5hz for gaming? Does this mean that it has 2 different wifi? Sorry for noob question
*
Hi phantom_zero,

If you are looking for modem router with dualband, we got one model DSL-N55U.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/DSLN55U_Annex_A/

SRP is RM420.

It has a function called QoS and it apply to both the band when it is turned on.

If you are looking for a budget wise modem router, you can have a look on DSL-N10E.

SRP is RM95

If you are looking for performance modem router, DSL-N55U will be your choice.

Same question here.

I sharing unifi with my housemates. I need stable ping and QOS to limit PPS.
*
Hi WiLeKiyO,

I not sure for stable ping because most of the time the ping are cause by the Internet line. But as for QoS, you can have a look on the following models.

RT-AC66U (Broadcom) - RM739
RT-N66U (Broadcom) - RM639
RT-N65U (Ralink) - RM539
RT-N56U (Ralink) - RM439
RT-N53 (Broadcom) - RM309
RT-N16 (Broadcom) - RM339
RT-N15U (Broadcom) - RM199
RT-N14U (Ralink) - RM185
RT-N12HP (Broadcom) - RM229
RT-N12 (Broadcom) - RM139

All the models above have QoS for you to control the bandwidth.

Hi joonwei23,

May I know what is your current firmware? The latest one is 3.0.0.4.370, here is the link to download it.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN12_C1/#support_Download_35

This will change the interface of the router. Once updated, please do a factory reset on the device and redo the setting.

This version of firmware will provide better control on the QoS.

how the 2.4hz and 5hz works anyway? i wan a modem that can give lag free and low ping
*
Hi phantom_zero,

5Ghz Will have better transfer rate compare to 2.4Ghz. But the down side is 5Ghz will have lower coverage area.

You can turn on the QoS, once turned on, it will have higher priority on Gaming and Surfing net.

And like I said, I don't think there is a lag free modem router out there. It need to depend on the Internet line also.

Hello,

How do I set up QoS on the RT-N16 so that HTTP download will always have at least 40% download bandwidth against P2P?
*
Hi Point Ex,

You want to set HTTP to 40% and P2P 60%?

You can set the Download Bandwidth as shown on the image below. Under the User-defined Priority.

Do update the firmware to the latest. The latest firmware is 3.0.0.4.354.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN16/#support_Download_35.

dear asusmy,

i am using maxis home fibre 10mb, i think to replace thomson 784n with asus router. i no use voip, but maybe will upgrade to maxis astro iptv

is any asus router suitable for maxis home fibre? how about the price range and is it need to install other firmware? thank you very much~
*
Hi stup1degg,

The router below all can support Maxis Fiber, but for the Maxis Astro IPTV we will need to test it first. This is because it may need VLAN ID for the IPTV to work.

Router models RT-N16 and above allow manual key in of VLAN ID, others will need to test and add it in the firmware.

RT-N66U (Broadcom) - RM639
RT-N65U (Ralink) - RM539
RT-N56U (Ralink) - RM439
RT-N53 (Broadcom) - RM309
RT-N16 (Broadcom) - RM339
RT-N15U (Broadcom) - RM199
RT-N14U (Ralink) - RM185
RT-N12HP (Broadcom) - RM229

If follow by warranty policy, yes it will void. But if you know how to restore back to the original firmware then it is different story. smile.gif

I've subs to VIP 5 unifi, so it wont make any difference if i choose 20Mhz right?
Cause if i'm not mistaken, 20Mhz only 150Mbps, instead of 300Mbps on 40Mhz.
Is there any new firmware?
When i bought the router, it said to support unifi. But then i always get Automatic IP failed.
After 1hr of googling, actually i dont have the firmware that supports unifi.
I've to update myself.
p/s : using RT-N15U
*
Hi romeo57,

You can have a try on this firmware. 3.0.0.4.364.

https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/s/B...2BDF02F5B45D80Y

This firmware will change the GUI of this router, DO A FACTORY RESTORE BEFORE AND AFTER THE FIRMWARE UPDATE.

After done the factory restoration, redo the setting. Below is a link that will help you in setting up the router for UNIFI.
