Nevermind... I figured it out. You can't use the same account on ASUS' dynamic DNS service. Changed the name and it now works.

Now I have another question: is it possible to reuse the original name? Or is it stuck with my RT-N56U router?
*
Hi kengsim,

May I know you still using the RT-N56U? The DDNS are created by following your WAN private IP/Dynamic IP. If your RT-N66U have the same IP, you can use back the DDNS name.

Thank you

The RT-N66U replaces the RT-N56U completely. However, I noticed that if I use the original name, there's an exclamation mark next to the DDNS: *****.asuscomm.com (!) on the Network Map page. If I use the new name, there's no exclamation mark.

I'm on Unifi, so of course the IP changes, so how am I going to get back the original name? Is there a timeout or expiry for the ddns service?
*
Hi kengsim,

I have checked with our RD, in order to use back the DDNS, you need to use back the RT-N56 to create a new DDNS. By doing so it will release the previous DDNS from our server. After that then you can use back the DDNS that yo want on the RT-N66.

Thank you

I checked system log because even though I am connected to Unifi 20M, it is painfully slow to load websites. Usually my net is fast and my connection dropped a lot.

I'm using RT-N56U on 3.0.0.4.342

Hi nyunyu,

I have passed the log file to our RD and will update you ASAP.

@ASUSmy,

Is is possible to do VLAN trunking as specify on this setup?
http://klseet.com/index.php/mikrotik/mikro.../vlans-trunking

The idea is to get to have the latest AC router to trunk to  RT-AC66U another location with similar RT-AC66U? So I can setup IPTV and LAN connection.
Thanks.

Hi maxiscool,

Will try check with our RD and see they able to do this VLAN Trunking or not.

Hi ASUSmy,

Does Asus RT-N12HP support Maxis Fiber with VoIP? Thank you.
*
Hi rootlinux, it can support Maxis Fiber. And It can support VOIP also by working together with the router provided by the Maxis.

It cannot totally replace the router provided by the Maxis as it don't have the phone port to connect the VOIP phone.

Is RT-N15U worth buying compared to RT-N16 . The difference is around RM100 . I wanna know whether it is worth the money?

It should be able to support UNIFI by using the stock-firmware right ?
*
Hi shadachi, if compare N15 with N16, N16 will have better flash, memory and coverage area. It depend on your environment. If it is just for normal usage and low coverage area, then N15 will be enough.

And yes, both can support Unifi.

The stock firmware by default can run unifi with IPTV ? or do we need to certain steps to do so.

Hi shadachi, no special setting. Once you select the correct ISP then the IPTV by default will be at LAN port 4.

Hi ASUSmy,

With the default firmware of Asus RT-N12HP sold, is it supported or need to update to special version firmware?

If using the router provided by Maxis, VoIP works. Can I still leave the Wired/Wireless function on, to have LAN DHCP IP lease from Asus RT-N12HP?

Thank you.
*
Hi rootlinux,

If can, do update firmware to the latest. Which is 3.0.0.4.342 now.

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLan...2HP_3004342.zip

The Maxis router will be connected to LAN 3 of ASUS router. The Maxis router will not be able to online. You can disable the wifi if you want to.

Hi,

just replaced the stock Unifi router with the N66U; so far seems to be working fine; and follow closely to KLseet Unifi setup guide.
Although the guide seems to be quite old and some things are different probably due to latest firmware upgrade.
Is there anything different I should do from this guide?

I notice some things don't work from following it. such as if I add the WAN DNS settings servers to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4; the internet will not work. Instead, I do set the DNS on each device's settings, is this the same?
I also left the QoS turned off; as I read from other forums that there isn't much difference on or off for home networks; and even in some case that turning on, transfer speeds from via WLAN is reduced too.
Although it would be nice to be able to change priorty settings so that I have video streaming set high, and torrenting set low.
Is it worth installing DD-WRT for noobs? i heard its not stable with N66U yet and might brick it?
*
Hi eggplants,

For the DDNS, you can get it at the Network Map--> Internet Status. You can put this DNS if you don't want it to be auto.

AS for the QoS, you can refer to the link below to understand more on how to set the QoS.

http://support.asus.com/Search/KDetail.asp...D5E596D3073&t=2

As for the DD-WRT, not sure about that. You can follow their forum to know more.

My RT-N66U just kaput. Two days ago, it started dropping Unifi connection. It wouldn't connect, but if you reboot it, it would be connected for about 1-2 minutes and then drop connection. I replaced it with my old RT-N56U (which still had all the same Unifi settings) and there was no problem with the Unifi connection.

So how do I get support for this? Router was purchased from 3E Trading in Midvalley on 26-Dec-2012.
*
Hi kengsim,

If the RT-N66U are still same after you update firmware to the latest and do a factory setting, you can send back to 3E Trading for warranty claim.

How to factory reset RT-N56U? I've pressed the reset button for >5 seconds, but the router still refused to master reset.

The router was configured by someone else and I'm unable to check the IP to login to the web admin. Therefore I need to master reset for the IP to return to 192.168.1.1.

Hi zaqplm,

You try press again until the power LED light blink then release. After release it will start resetting to factory setting.

Hi anwarmatlani,

You no need to flash custom firmware to RT-N56U, all you need it just update firmware to the latest and you will be able to select the Unifi as your ISP when doing the setup.

You can connect or not connect to the modem when doing the setup. If you are not connected when doing the setup, it is advisable that you do it manually instate of using the quick setup.

I bot an Asus RT-N15U few weeks ago. I realize there is a 30 sec to 1 min delay (there is a satellite with a cross) when I change channel watching from my IPTV. That only happens on my asus router, but when I change back to my Unifi given router there is no delay. My firmware is Version  2.1.1.1.78. Please help. A little frustrated when I change channels! Any input from members are highly appreciated.

Hi bananaz,

You can try update the firmware to the latest, which is 3.0.0.4.360.

Here is the link to download it.

Please do a factory reset before and after you updated the latest firmware.
