rayng: IMHO, not as sharp as i thought it would be. kind of disappointed... thinking of selling mine real soon... smile.gif you can ask MoO's opinion also... but i feel i prefer this compared to the 50mm 1.8 despite the smaller aperture.

should i sell my 5600HS and fund for a cobra? or should i keep and fund for a cobra from scratch? happy.gif

28mm 2.8 is a good walkaround lens that is compact and bright. If you feel fed up with 50mm being too tight, then this one is what you need AND its cheaper than a 50mm. On a FF, its an 18mm equivalent of an apsc, so it's a wide angle lens.

yeah. what william say is correct.. i dont like the 50mm because its too tight and i seldom use it (when i had it) at 1.8 .... this 28mm f2.8 is just right.... not too tight and at the same time u can take photos at considerably wide angles.

it is not THAT sharp as i stated before.. but it is acceptable... for the price u cant expect it to be CZ-type sharp right? its not too soft either.. u can check at dyxum for more sample photos.

yes, it isnt as sharp as you expect from a prime, but to boost, the 50mm 1.7 isnt that much sharper either (havent used a 1.8 before, cant comment). at that wide, overall sharpness is pretty negligible as your subjects will be at a smaller scale anyway. but its definitely sharper than kitlens any day..

rayng: dont be in doubt.. you wont regret buying the 28mm... sell ur 50mm... lol... do u need the extra 22mm wider or the wider aperture? when i bought the 28mm i targeted the 'wide-ness'...

have you really tried the 35mm to be able to judge it as 'sweet'? with 50mm on a fashion show, i love the brightness of the lens, blows the b/g to bokeh. targets half body shot to keep the frame clean. and normally, i wouldnt use flash at all during a catwalk/runway fashion shoot.

mike, on the contrary, keep the 50mm. its bright and gives a decent close up focal length. both makes a good complement. at one point of time, i ONLY had 28 and 50 (apart from my ex-75-300; which was too long) for a model stage shoot, no problem!

@mike : well, actually i am aiming for the wideness...normally on 50mm i shoot at f2.5 (consider sharp for me )

my concern is whether the range is suitable for portraits or not ... sad.gif

Got to agree, flash kinda spoils the bokeh.
