its still partly hardware for the a850/900's case. coz the pixel density per area is much higher than the conventional 10/12/14 MP sensors in the FF class, the signal to noise ratio is nearly the same as on apsc sensors due to that fact. provided that they made a FF sensor with only 12/14 MPs, then the signal to noise ratio increases dramatically, as each pixel is devoted more to gather light, while still maintaining the same noise level on the sensor.

how bout if i set it to smaller image size...will it reduce the noise?
*
not sure about the noise issue, but overall image quality should drop theoretically, due to image compression - which compression should include the actual image + noise. so i think the noise would be 'fused' together with the actual image data, muddling the output color. that is why by shooting raw, there isnt a choice for you to choose what image size you want, it always records at the sensor's native resolution.

flash tips: when you think u need to increase the brightness of the photo.

Decreasing shutter speed will make the background brighter, the subject will have less effect.
So in another words, shutter speed controls ambient, like what achew said. Aperture controls flash.

Try it out yourself then only u will understand, instead of jz reading, you'll never have hands on.

16 only ka? Sup louk sui, pok pok chui.. tongue.gif *likes*

50D having an old sensor d ma, but sensors rarely play a role here. Algorithm also in charge in the sharpening and compression. i think my NeX antidote is kicking in.

not in a rush, it can come out whenever it is mature enough to come out, i'd rather have a bug free system which does what it needs to do without hiccups rather than a half/nearly complete model coming out, only to need a minor upgrade later on... read: iPhone4

im predicting the coming bodies to be quite promising, seeing the NEX's ISO performance even with an APSC sized sensor. and the coming of videoSLR in the A7xx mock up, it seems that sony is working its way into that field. surely if they only had something similar to what canon and nikon have on their bodies now for video, sony would've launched the product way back then.. but im predicting it will revolutionize the way videoSLR works, the same way Sony revolutionized live-view in its dSLRs compared to current competitors - which back then took sony quite a while before launching its quick live-view, where made many sony users out there to make a big fuss, saying that sony is not paying attention to user needs, not putting effort in the alpha line et cetera. but its impact was made once the QLV came out. i like the way they try to think out of the box, rather than follow the crowd.
