I have mixed feelings about this game, i hate it and love it at the same time. The fast paced action is fine with mass effect 2, but DA was fine without the flashy moves and combat system. The main character now feels like a cheap rip off from a japanese action game. Characters were more believable in the original, cause it was done that way. We loved it, we ate it up, we treasured it, we bought it, so why cheese the whole IP up by changing game mechanics that were fine?

Hopefully there will be mods to alter the gameplay and such to make it more like Origins. Don't know whether the toolset will be released or not though.

Agreed. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Sadly this is the state of the current crop of CRPGs. The newer generation of gamers (console kiddies) do not appreciate deep and engrossing dialogue, they just want to kill stuff. And for me personally, the amount of blood in DA2 is unnecessarily excessive. I LOLed at the exploding darkspawns. There's just blood all over the place. Whoa. It feels like someone incorporated Fallout 3's Bloody Mess into DA2.

The game is supposed to be good from the get go. Don't pull off another Oblivion. Its a bad habit to depend on the community to fix the game's shortcomings.

How about Witcher 2?

It seems to be the closest to what CRPG ever be.

My concern with Witcher 2 is its script. On the other hand, its branching dialogue system is ideal to me smile.gif

In the first game, there were numerous times whereby NPCs would utter the F-bomb and it just seemed kinda awkward and improper for a fantasy game albeit a very dark one.

Anyway, here's a glorious screen shot for all you BLOOD AND GORE lovers muahahahahahaha (Bloody Mess on steroids)

I don't see what's wrong with swearing in a fantasy game. Witcher isn't just some typical goody fairy tales RPG. Great story and decent combat and role playing is what I'm looking for.

I'm fine with DA2's gore but I really dislike the locked camera. At least let me pan around when I zoom out or let me play like Mass Effect where my character don't run away when I accidentally clicked the ground.

At least the gore doesn't look as bad as what Beth made.

they need to fix the camera. the new one is horrible for tactical gameplay.

I remembered Geralt saying "f*ckin absolutely" or something similar during a casual conversation with a merchant in Vizima and that was just LOL moment for me. To some, it kinda killed the immersion since such a word has never been uttered before in a fantasy game haha. The writers just basically dropped random F-bombs in every conversation. Its like having Hawke say "F*ckin darkspawns! F*** all of them! hahaha

Anyway, to each his own.

One thing I like about DA2 is that Health and Lyrium pots are now universally bound to all characters. That saves me all the trouble.

Furthermore, the animation has been improved. Characters don't run like there's something shoved up their butts.

Actually I think the major gore only happens in the beginning...the part of the tale which Varric intentionally exaggerates...the latter parts seem to have slightly toned down gore I think. The action...sigh...where do I begin...swinging a double handed sword like it was a toothpick...rogues magically disappearing and reappearing...man...they really dumbed it down. The camera was hard to love...but I suppose these are things that I will get used to...just like bows not having a bowstring or everyone having the same undies...oh well...

I like all the changes, the flashy moves, graphics and faster paced of the combat. One thing i agreed is the camera. No tactical view which is crucial for a game like Dragon Age. I believe the camera is just due to demo.

Cons i dislike basically are the friendly fire. It certainly does remove tactical depth in gameplay for me.

The swearing isnt much in Witcher. Im fine with that, and there arent any laws saying a fantasy universe cant swear.

Dont know why there are cases that my Health Potion isnt activated.
