Fantastic place to try out the coffee at Coffee Ritual in Section 14 PJ. For map and full review, click here.

1. Firstly, a glass pot of filtered water is placed over a burner. You can see the barrister lighting the burner in the picture below. The red machine in the foreground is the coffee bean grinder.

user posted image

2. Freshly grinded beans are placed in the container with a spout in the glass pot of boiling water. As the water boil, it'll create a suction and suck the heated water up to brew the freshly grounded coffee beans

user posted image

3. The grounded coffee is given a stir with the boiling water to mix up for even flavouring.

user posted image

4. The coffee and boiling water are left to brew for 2 minutes...I find it so miraculous that the boiling water has been sucked up to the jar above it but it's all scientific methods. You can begin to smell the coffee frangrance as it releases its flavors.

user posted image

5. The burners below are removed and the coffee mixture is given a final stir.

user posted image

6. As the liquid cools, it is filtered as it flows downwards again. A heavenly coffee fragrance permeats the surroundings.

user posted image

7. The coffee is ready to be served...

8. Hunny's cup of Single Origin Brazilian Fancy Santos Coffee (can't remember if he added the milk already or not...)

On another visit, the cafe owners were generous and invited me and some friends to have free 1st cup of any coffee in their menu.

9. The Royal Coffee Brewing Maker (can brew up to 3 cups of coffee) which automatically switch off on its own

user posted image

10. The coffee sifu poring water into the pot which will be boiled and the water will rise due to the sealed mouth and force its way into the glass compartment...

user posted image

11. The liquid below the fire is the fuel that made this fire a huge one...

user posted image

12. Wow...the steam is rising....the burner reminds me of lampe bergen lamps...burning also not black black de the wick...

user posted image

13. The water has moved from the steel pot into the glass pot...and is brewing the coffee now...wow...like magic although it's scientifically explainable...once the fire is off...the liquid from the glass pot will flow back to the steel pot and coffee will come out from the tap...

user posted image

14. Gorgeous Light Pastry encasing a hearty beef filling served with cream sauce, salad and crinkled fries...yummy!

user posted image

15. A friend introducing Coffee Ritual's latest coffee maker - the Ice Drip Coffee Maker. It uses icy cold water to drip through the freshly grinded coffee and will take 8 hours to complete dripping! Coffee made this way has lesser caffein than hot brewed coffee...

user posted image

16. The full view of the ice drip coffee maker with a jug of icy cold water at the top...

user posted image

17. The sifu adjusting the coffee pot so that it can drip the coffee down coffee more accurately...

They have ala carte coffee starting at RM6 onwards and combo meals which include a drink and single origin bean coffees.

Do try it out if you want a good cup of coffee. Map available in my blog.

Guys,

I'd like to change the current discussion a lil if you may.

I am currently scouting around for coffee making machines.

The thing is, i am not even sure what are the price ranges or even where around Klang valley that i could go to for;

a) a cheap but reliable machine
b) good coffee beans

I am not really knowledgeable in coffee but I'd love to have a machine at my new place.

Looking to make good of cappucinos/espressos and even lattes smile.gif

cheers!

A good investment would be the celebrated Rancilio Rocky / Silvia combo. It should cost you less than RM5,000 (probably importing it would set you back a bit more) but it sure makes a great espresso!

Rave reviews and reception at CoffeeGeek. It is the ultimate mid-range grinder/espresso combo.

Lesser than RM5k seems much more reasonable than RM10k - 20k as noted by Mr.Wokayyy

However, anyone has any idea of a cheaper coffee making machine?? Perhap the region between RM1k - RM3k? Or its just my noob wishful thinking?

A good budget grinder is the Starbucks Barista, or the improved version of it, the Dualit 75002, which is essentially a rebranded Solis 116. It can be tweaked to grind a fine espresso for you to get a 25second pull.

Tweaks described here:
http://www.kwilson.fsnet.co.uk/grinder_tweaks.htm

The Starbucks Barista/Dualit 75002/Solid 116 is priced in UK at 75 GBP, so that converts to below RM500.

Then you have to invest on a fairly decent espresso machine. If you're skimping on the grinder, the Rancilio Silvia would still be affordable to you, because it costs 400 GBP here, so about RM 2,500. That in total is RM 3,000

hi dude,

thanks for your very insightful tips.
did some googling from the recommendations you made. found this site, seems that there's good feedback on this machine.

However, i was wondering would have happen to have any good suggestions for latte/cappucino making machines? from the reviews i read as noted on the above site, rancilio silvia machine appears to be an espresso making machine.

was wondering if there is any other machine which is suited for cappucino/latte as well?

cappuccino/latte is essentially espressos with milk.

Not easy to make good cappuccino unless you undergo training in steaming the milk and get the well done foam
** I got a super lousy cappuccino from drCafe (Solaris) there with the harden foam which i think it is overdone

Latte has higher ratio of milk than espresso and less thicker milk foam on top..

hi there,

yes i understand where you are coming from.

sorry if i havent been clear in my previous enquiry.

i have heard of some machine which will also help to create the foam and adjust the proper ratio of coffee + milk. this is to brew the drink into the best ratio and combination of coffee + milk.

as i am a noob in coffee making, i wouldnt trust my ownself in making my own cup of latte or cappucino by adding the milk to the drink and the certain require temperature, volume, tilting degrees into the drink.

so yea, i was wondering if any machine can just do everything for me. u know? like a delonghi one touch? biggrin.gif hehehe

just that its too expensive for me. wonder if there is any other better options.

thanks dude!!

learning alot from this thread.

I'm looking for a coffee machine for standard capsule coffees. So far I've found a few - Capitani Espresso Touch Cap Machine, Rotary Lux Coffee Machine, SGL-Capsy Coffee Machine & I-espresso System Coffee Machine.

Anyone has any reviews or any pointers for me to choose?

Hi patryn33, capsules are much faster for a cuppa than the ones that need grinding. Plus, it is easier to maintain. The machines I found cost between RM2k - RM4k... not too bad.

Thanks all for your lovely feedback, but is anyone out there has an opinion on the machines I chose?

not really, fully automatic machine are just well easy to maintain.
my office use fully auto ones and it grinds and make the coffee and auto empty the grinds. a push button is all it take to rinse the machine.
the pod type, need to put in and open to remove, on top of that its more costly.

RM4000 can that those really nice fully auto. they are fast too. grind and does it in varies strength. after they empty the grind it auto rinse don't even need to push button. my office used this Jura F7 that does it above didn't take more than 1 min to make coffee. or U looking at <15 sec so rush to leave? get the Jura Capresso Impressa S9 unit and I think U can get the internet to program the recipe and it does 4-5 different strength. I am sure at RM4K U could get a fully automatic that is just as easy to maintain. I have tried neopresso, and a few other brands at different location. Not tried the above brands U mention. Not seen them in the States at least. I have only seen a few brands and tried a couple at William Sonoma.

for high class capsules, go or those nespresso. cheaper but capsules are costly but high quality. alot of ppl swear thats the best capsule machine so far. the good news is the patent are ending and U'll be able to cheaper capsule with more players in the market.

Good luck and hope U find something U like.
