Hi, would like to ask a few question here, planning to get the UB68 plan..

Does the broadband cater for those living in higher than 10 floors?
Cuz I'm on the 12th.

If I'm not satisfied and which to terminate it, any fees involved? What about the modem? Return it or keep it?

Since its a monthly bill, how do I pay it? Do I need to bring all the way to the Service Center to pay?

And finally would like to ask all U-Broadband user, how's the service and connection for u? Satisfied? Stable? Is it crawling at peak hours?
~ cuz I don't see much(or any) complain here from U-Broadband users, its either very few are using or it is really satisfying.

sunway is exceptionally good.

if have doubt, get the normal prepaid started pack (RM8 per pack with RM5 preloaded), then topup enough for the broadband plans available.

http://www.u.com.my/broadband/plans

suggest to get the UB68 plan for maximum speed. try it for a month and gauge the average speed at your area.

if not satisfied, no frill. use it for sms/calls wink.gif the rates are now quite affordable.

But the promotion is only for the Postpaid plan, not for the prepaid plan..
The prepaid plan don't include free modem, I don't have modem for the sim card so I'll most probably go str8 for UB68 postpaid promotion.
However since there's no trial period, if I decide to get it I'd need to stick to it no matter poor speed or else I won't get back my RM100 registration via the 5 months RM20 monthly rebate.

How about the 12 floors issue? Will it affect me if I stay high up at 12 floor?

correct, if you dont have a modem, get the promotion instead.

RM100 for the modem is quite affordable too.

there is no contract (except the 1st 5 months).

Just asked some question at the service center and they said not recommended for those living higher than 10 floors..
How bout y'all user's experience? Is it possible? Cuz I don't require high speed, stable speed around 512kbps is sufficient..

Just want to confirm:

1. If no U mobile coverage in my area, the service provider will auto change to Celcom? (cause I live in Shah Alam) No extra charges for postpaid and prepaid right?

2. U Prepaid Plan validity issue:
-Top up RM100 at Jan 1, balance validity: 300 days
If I top up RM100 the next day Jan 2, balance validity: 299+300=599?

3. The balance of the money can use for deduct the data service and not only for voice call/sms?

4. The 18 cent per min for U prepaid plan end at December 31, 2010?

Thanks in advance for anyone that answer my question

i live in 11th floor, so i think u have no issue. why they said that? i thought the higher the building is, the stronger signal u will get. like those VHF /UHF frequency. hmm.gif

1) roaming is automated. there is no extra charges. better set your phone to "Auto" in the network setting.

2) the validity thingy is overlapping (not cumulative). Jan 1: RM100 topup gets 300 days. Jan 2: RM100 topup gives you just 1 extra day.

note: if i am not mistaken, if your subsequent topup gives you lesser validity days than the first, you dont get anything. e.g. Jan 1: RM100 topup gets 300 days. Jan 2: RM50 topup suppose to give you 150 days but you wont get it because (1) it is lesser than the 300 days you gotten already and (2) no cumulative validity.

3) yes, the credit balance can be used for both data and voice/sms. but remember to subscribe the broadband plans before you use data. else, the data rate is expensive (10sen/KB).

4) 18 sen/min is the new standard prepaid rate. the promotion U3G rate (12 sen/min) ends at Dec 31, 2010 for calls originate in umobile's 3G network (KV, Ipoh, Seremban, and JB) with 3G phone.

examples:

(a) KL ----> Penang (12 sen/min)
(b) KL ----> Kota Bahru (12 sen/min)
( c) KL (but 2G phone) ----> Gombak (18 sen/min)
(d) Raub (2G or 3G phone) ----> KL (18 sen/min)
(e) Penang (2G or 3G phone) ---> JB (18 sen/min)

Note:
( c) even if you make a call in KL, you use a 2G phone, which means you are not fully in 3G network but forced to roam on Celcom.
(d) & (e) calls from Raub and Penang is not entitled for U3G rate because those are not within umobile's 3G network.

the U3G rate (12 sen/min) is more beneficial if most of the time you are in umobile's 3G network and using 3G phone.

else, standard rates apply (18 sen/min)

Using celcom and umobile at 21st floor condo, speed seems fine ... fluctuates between 0.5 to >1mb

u mean register what? prepaid itself?

if prepaid, it wud be faster from service centre. if from dealers, may be longer as they have to submit the registration form back to umobile to activate.

broadband subscription is almost instantaneous (just be sure to wait for the SMS confirmation).

Have my mind set on postpaid. Is there an activation speed difference between registering my postpaid UB plan at a service centre or at any of their dealers?

service centre is always faster.

from dealers, they need to submit the registration form to umobile. so will be slower.

i think postpaid broadband (like the Free Modem promo now they are having) is activated quite fast if done from svc centre.

find the svc centres here: http://u.com.my/service-centres

I'm thinking of going to Sunway Pyramid's service centre as 1U's service does not open on Sundays, right?

What free modem are they giving out now? Is it the black CSL U1-TF?

Wow 21st floor, which area?

Added on October 2, 2010, 9:26 pm hmm.gif I don't know whether I should take the risk to apply for it since it don't have trial period. Cuz I live 12th floor, another thing is sked signal might be blocked by another apartment block. The hopeless service from P1 W1MAX is tempting me to take the risk, but I sked it might back-fire.
