Gratz Grace~ Welcome to the club~
U can try taking baby or kid pics using Auto mode (iA)~
U can also choose scene mode (baby pics)
If u wanna do your own setting try S mode, go capture moving subject~ Just choose a higher shutter speed will do~

hi grace, S mode is use to control the shutter speed~
Shutter speed means how long the camera takes a pic~
High shutter speed is use for capturing moving subject~ Less than a second
Slow shutter speed is use for capturing water flow or car light trail on the road at nite~ More than a second eg. 5 0r 20second~
Under S mode, aperture will be set automatically~
Some pics will turn out black if your shutter speed is too high, then u muz lower it~

if u want video recording~ at least a class 4 and above~ biggrin.gif

Sifoo, 1 question to ask... read somewhere about the A and S mode.

If we use A, it will auto select best Shutter speed for us...

If we use S, it will auto select best aperture for us...

Is this true? My old cam is totally PNS... so i cant test.

Yes you're right smile.gif

When you're using Aperture Priority mode(A), you can set the aperture as you like, but the camera will set the other settings like shutter speed and ISO(must set Auto) to give an optimum exposure

Same goes to Shutter Speed Priority(S), you set the SS, while the camera sets the aperture and ISO(must set Auto) automatically.

It's all about getting the right exposure, but do remember that sometimes in tricky lighting situations, it's better to use Manual mode(M) and get the exposure right by yourself by looking at the exposure meter. This is because the camera's metering system isn't accurate enough when light is inadequate, sometimes getting underexposed shots or vice versa. Also, shoot RAW smile.gif

@grace lin

There's is no need for you to get the uber expensive Monster cable, as most won't be able to differentiate a RM50 cable from a RM150 one smile.gif And not to mention, the LX5 only shoots at 720P AVCHD "lite" which, the normal "cap ayam" brand is enough for smile.gif
