When phone no problem Ori too expensive.
When phone got problem u wish u have an ori set. Usually take few hrs to fix or max 1 day. Even the centre cant fix u can send to the NOKIA HQ
*
Usually. Unless you fried your motherboard, which translates to 2 weeks in my case.

And yeah I sent to Nokia Care with a fee, which answers the "will NCC repair my AP set" question - yes, but you have to pay.

I would've gotten original osso if I ACTUALLY paid anything for the N900 in the first place.

@Josh_M: What I can say is just get the OB. Even at RM120 I think it's well worth it.

And some bad news from the service center. Anybody saw anyone selling original set N900s for an okay price over at garage sales?

Because my N900 has just been certified by NCC as completely, irreparably and irreversibly dead - something that deeply saddens me right now,

I might have been one of the first people to completely kill an N900 from overuse, which is just not cool.

@jananan: Lol... I'm kinda thinking that way too, but even after supposedly replacing the entire system board, it's still supposedly dead. Somehow.

They must either have really inept people up there or something's really screwed up with my N900.

Anyway, will be sending it to my local repair guys when I get it back (sometimes non-authorised hacks can do a helluva better job than authorised ones, especially when all hope is lost) and see what they think of the matter.

@s_e_a: Local as in Shah Alam, and these guys sometimes get new phones up and selling faster than Lowyat (or LYN for that matter).

Sometimes, anyway. Here's hoping.

Anddddddddddddddddddddddd the BB Torch is live... hmm.gif

Shame the specs are on the *yawn* side of things... And it could have been such a killer device... sweat.gif

Well, time for another N900 it seems... Unless Samsung plans a Malaysian release of the Galaxy S Pro (or Moto does the Milestone 2) like, by the end of the month (payday)?

Or Nokia brings out a Meego slider that rocks my boat by then... biggrin.gif

iDefense = Scratch protection

OB = Ballistic protection

'Nuff said.

Better still is iDefense + OB = Ultimate protection (especially if you put in a ziplock bag = water proof some more lol).

Cheapest you can get OB for is RM90 actually IINM, if you're willing to wait a 1-2 weeks for it to be shipped from the US like I did.

i have been using this since the first focus capable smartphone from nokia based on symbian ages ago...

its basic focus lock... in fact any camera, digicam, SLR also can do it...
*
On DSLRs, IINM recomposing is a no no because it might:

1) Screw with focus
2) Screw with metering (if you're not on full manual anyway)
3) Screw with composition

On a phone camera, with crap focusing ability anyway, it's more of a necessity lol. I've been doing it to get great bokeh (blur background) pics on my W810i for ages.

AND it's a PHONE CAM for Gods sakes, you don't expect pin sharp 100% blowups on it anyway, though manual everything gives you an edge in terms of creative expression freedom - an edge not many other cam phones can boast. AT LEAST the N900's not the purple monstrosity I have stuck on the back of my E71 (which, with the cramped, low-res screen, is my only few real gripes with the device).

Which reminds me, I need to get a Spotmatic with a working light meter. My M42 lens collection's crying for some love edi - it's been a year since I totally gave up serious photograpy (if they're not fungus-ridden by now).

Out of sheer xtermititis (not enough terminal syndrome), I got paranoid that FreeISMS (the el jacky sparrow "business" one) was not working on my E71. In response, I bought ThreadSMS for fifty bucks.

...

After which FreeISMS started working again. Ugh. I got so fed up I went and bought FreeISMS as well out of sheer sakit hati. Now, for the loss of about RM80, I have TWO friggin PAID threaded sms apps on my E71 (okay, just one actually - the ThreadSMS guys still haven't contacted me with a registered version of the app yet).

Again, I fully blame the N900 for getting me so used to threaded messaging. Oh well, I'll just sell the app to my other Symbian toting family members - hopefully they do license transfers.

On the bright side, Threaded Messaging app shootout anyone? A little hint: FreeISMS "Business Edition" is somehow in the lead for now.

Maybe I'll revive my blog and put some reviews up. Especially on the Otterbox.

Sorry for the TL;DR rant there. Needed to vent.

i think there nothing wrong with "angle", is the service center problem, i think thier intall wrong app for the keyboard....damn thoes service center

look like have to test "angle" reputation again tongue.gif

btw any one can help me on this  sweat.gif

It's a problem with your keyboard mapping file, sounds like its mapped for the wrong locale. Check your input settings under settings, make sure US-eng or English US or something like that is selected for locale.

Most probably lar. Worse come to worse, you can search how to edit the ~/vndr/rx-51 keyboard mapping file in xterm. Forgot the full path for the file though.

But yeah, the N8 IMHO is a different beast altogether. It looks like a great camera phone to me, but a so so computer. The N900 is a great computer, but it honestly sucks as a phone, even as a smartphone.

Lol, getting my supposedly irreparable N900 tomorrow, hopefully something still can be done as I NEED microb. Ucweb, Opera Mini and even Opera Mobile just ain't cutting it for computer replacement duties.

At least not totally.

Hahaha sucks to be a phone nor even smartphone so which mean if get the N900 I still need to stick with my old N73 just in case anything goes wrong with the N900.
*
That's pretty much correct, you know, just in case you burn your motherboard - like idiot me.

And keep in mind you need two free hands to effectively use the N900. Single handedly, you WILL do some finger acrobatics and will need some amount of focus.

I can actually surf faster while multitasking (as in while doing other things - not OS multitasking, at which the N900 is supreme) with one hand with the E71, but in the end that's not the Internet as it's meant to be at all.

In the end, the N900 is best used as it's roots suggest - as an internet tablet. That can also do computer stuff. And also call or message people. SOMETIMES.

Kinda like a pocket friendly Ipad. With less apps and a better browser lol.

it depends on how you handle your phone I got a few phone in my pocket but my n900 still havent crash on me.

Everything we do we must know the limit of it. Its like a computer if you use it as for normal usage and minor OC it will be okay but testing its patience will only make it worse
*
And I OC up to 850 only lol, with no overclocking artifacts at all - no crashing videos, no problems with camera, no visual corruption and all. So, I won't be saying that I pushed it TOO hard really.

It's just my bad luck, and it simply died lol.

... flying squirrels?

Well, Nokia decided that they're not gonna do anything (or even say anything) about Flash 10 on Maemo. So that's that.

You can do Nitdroid Froyo for Flash 10 though, but bye bye to your calls and therefore 3G data connection (only wifi is working on Nitdroid).

i am sorry to say, N900 is a tablet to begin with, and it has phone features, look at the past tablet series and u will know

We are holding Tablet that comes with phone

not phone that comes with pda features.
Besides, of course we get it because of its ability to make phone call.
*
I got it because of MicroB and social networking integration lol... Everything else my is for my venerable E71 to handle.

But yeah, the N900 is still pretty much an Internet Consumption Device beyond everything else. And it lets you consume pretty insane amounts of the Internet on the move.

Ah, the fabled holy grail of the everything device is still but a while away... But we're getting pretty darned close! thumbup.gif

Shame Garmin is not developing software actively anymore (for Android for instance - Symbian version is also un-updated for how long edi?)... I actually prefer the pure data and efficient routing of Garmin vs the polish of Papago.

For shortcutD the only setting I could productively use for the proximity sensor is the long touch option.

Yes that AND the fact that the N900 browser opens ANY page like desktop Firefox...

... because it IS desktop Firefox... thumbup.gif

I'm suffering right now with UCweb and the low res screen of the E71, really. But what to do?

OC related early death symptoms? Jk jk... brows.gif

But about the IP4, the screen must be the most beautiful thing I've seen on ANY electronic gadget. EVER.

And that's about it. Everything else is "oh, it's another iphone".

Come on Jobs, give me a physical keyboard and only THEN would I even consider your IP4 - jailbroken obviously.
