thanks.. figure that having monk as primary profession will be more valuable in terms of future contribution ie healing to my team members (later on).. no doubt that one of the disadvantage of being a monk is also having being the 1st one to be targetted!! it's like, "oh there's the monk. kill!! die!!"..  tongue.gif

With the right combo and strategy - you won't die as easily. Monk in GW are tough and hardy when used and played right. Sherly can tell you, we've been kicking ass all week now in the Hall of Heroes.

Regarding the warrior/monk question - Nothing special, very common too as its the easiest class to play. Im a warrior/monk , can't get enough of Paladinhood after all these years.

Mo/E? i'm one, haha. the only difference between getting Mo/E and E/Mo are:

1. E/Mo gets energy storage, which increases energy capacity, while Mo/E gets divine favor, which is kinda useless unless your build is a full time healer.

2. E/Mo gets to use Elementalist runes, while Mo/E gets monk runes. (http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=112)

3. different sets of armor. elementalist gets different sets of armor that has resistance to a particular element. they also get headgears that have +1 bonus to any one attribute. monks get head paints that have +1 to monk attributes.

i used to regret picking Mo/E, since i hardly use my divine favor at all, and extra energy would mean more nuking with my spells, but i don't anymore. being a monk primary, i get to use monk runes, and with a Rune of Superior Smiting Prayers, i have 16 in that attribute(12 max, +1 from head paint, +3 from rune), and i totally rape undead mobs.

i'm not exaggerating though. in the Gates of Kryta and D'alessio Seaboard missions, most of the monsters are undead. my smiting prayers made them really easy. i finished both with just 1 healer henchman, just the 2 of us.

heavy tanker?? got myself that already. which is why i'm a bit ok with being a monk.. biggrin.gif

hey nub.. thanks for the info. figure that Mo/E is kinda a good combination if you know how to and can master the skills offered by both. so, still learning the ropes here and hopefully by the time i'm ready to join a guild, being Mo/E will pay off.

i almost have enough health boost to compensate for the rune; minor vigor rune, +20 health staff wrapping, and soon i'll get a +19 health staff head, if all goes well. any of you have a +25~ health staff wrapping of fortitude though? i'll trade for a rune or something.

i guess the main reason i don't play a healer is because i might not be responsive enough to keep everyone alive. my computer really is old. the snow at the mountains was bad enough, but now there're trees and bushes and leaves... i know if i party with complete strangers and let them die, i'd get all sorts of "man you suck!" or something, which is why i only play with fellow guild members.

which sucks. because apparently a week or two after the launch, most of my friends got tired of the game, and then have to study for their finals, and kinda stopped playing...

oh well.

Secondary profession for Monk?
Depends on your style of playing as each of them is good.

Ele - For earth armor, glyph of lesser energy.
Mesmer - Energy stealing spell, counter hex skills.
Warrior - Sprint and defensive stances.
Necro - Well of Blood, Consume Corpse.
Ranger - Melandru's Resiliance, Troll Unguent, Whirling Defense.

Ele/Mo is a good choice for support healer. You will have more energy comparing with a Monk. But you won't have the divine favor bonus though.

there're these 2 girls, and i guess they prefer simple straight forward grinding and being able to look pretty over something "difficult" like guild wars... is it really difficult, to at least think ahead a bit before rushing into a huge mob of charrs?

i guess i understand why people always say girls only play the sims...

Don't insult the women - Like Sherly, she's a real pro monk now. Been fighting with us in the Hall of Heroes for more than a week now. She' has come a long way. We've got a few women in the guild too, so far so good I believe.
