Yes, but do note that it replaces your earlier mod. So, you don't get back whatever was on the item first.

if i'm not mistaken the upgrade component you need is a fiery bow string
so you need a bow without any string mods and upgrade it with the fiery string
i have an ebon bow string if you want
*
Thanks for the tip, gotta find me some firey bow string tongue.gif

I'm gonna pour most of the new attrib points into fire magic, but so far I cant seem to find any new fire skills :S

Hey does marksmanship attrib by any chance increase the distance u can shoot arrows? Just curious cuz in some battles I've been hit by rangers who can attack me, yet are out of range of my attacks... maybe its because they were on higher ground? blink.gif

Distance is determine by type of bow, not by marksmanship.

Longbows can hit outside the small aggro circle on the radar.
For maximum effectiveness,
1) Fiery Bowstring,
2) Conjure Flame,
3) Kindle Arrows,
4) Mark of Rodgort,
5) Poison arrow.

Watch mighty buff warriors start running away from you.

Maybe Fire isnt the best for a ranger/elem , unless the only skill you want to use are knockdown fire skills.

Pyromaniac Ele/Ranger, I would suggest you to use AoE, knockdown and some Wilderness support survival spells. Good for crowd control. I prefer holding a staff or wand along with flame artifact than bow coz you will get more useful ele bonus from them. But of course, Bows do look much cooler.

Ranger Arsonist R/E, i put most of my points equally in marksmanship, wilderness and expertise. The remaining will be in fire skills for conjure flame and rodgort. This build is only good 1vs1 tho

You're skillset will mostly be completely ranger based if you're going ranger/ele since the nicer burn spells are further in the game.

Don't forget that longbows have less accuracy and the high ground means you have a better chance of hitting compared to shooting uphill

Thanks for the advice rEDs, Delirium, and LiQuiDWaVe biggrin.gif found ur posts most informative.

Some thoughts:

First of all I had no idea that the bow-type served anything more than asthetics... Glad I kept my short bow, and long bow as well biggrin.gif

Currently I use a fire wand and flame artifact that increases my energy. My line up is:

- Aura of Restoration
- Flare
- Glyph of Lesser Energy
- Phoenix
- Armor of Earth
- Ward against Foes
- Lava Font
- Fire Storm

Basically I use the flare as my "standard attack" to soften em up, and wait for the enemies to cluster before I use my AOE attacks, reserving Earth Magic for defensive purposes (I find the ward against foes to work really well with the AOE against warriors). I found this strategy generally works with most team setups (I tend to carry the Troll Unguent instead of the glyph for PVP)...

I got the ranger because I figured I could use his powers to "manipulate the environment" back when I really didn't have a clue what the ranger's powers were. Now I realize that includes nature rituals and traps, which is what I would focus on for the ranger. Just waitin to get a hold of some of those powers, I figure with a few good traps on my belt, coupled with some of the more powerful AOE fire magic attacks, and I'll be pretty deadly...

So eventually my attribute points would be focused on:

Elementalist: Fire Magic, Earth Magic, Energy Storage
Ranger: Marksmanship and Wilderness Survival

It's not as focused as some setups, but I like flexibility... I can always use my refund points to focus a bit later on.

Later on I would like to experiment with other combos: Air Magic/Beast Mastery perhaps? I found that pets can be a welcomed distraction. I find them annoying when I hit "C" to look for the closest enemy only to find myself wasting my energy on some rangers pet lol...
