from what i heard from cyanogen, the protection is just make them harder and spend more time to root it..so what they need is just time

WOW !! Good pricing. I will get mine at Spore then, nearer for me. Unlikely we can get such retail prices here unless buy with contracted line

I have attended such HTC launches in Spore before. Unless you happen to be there, it is not worth your time and effort. Usually lasts only half hour plus, only advantage you get chance to test. The last one I attended was the htc Desire launch, on site were about 20 units for you to test

hmm...SGD888 - it's the same as the iphone4 16g no contract - if follow iphone pricing probably here would be RM100-200 more expensive - RM2290 maybe? drool.gif .

Thumbs up for the positive thinking! The G2 has 4GB of internal but users reported it as 2GB.. i see that people are speculating that 2GB is reserved for the stock rom restore due to the "so called rootkit". The DHD and DZ has 2GB of internal and i see from a camera snap that it shows 1GB of free space for app installs after clean boot. Hopefully DHD is not affected.

HTC may implement this to all the device but hopefully it would be only for T-MO G2. They do know ait that people love HTC and geeks buy HTC droids due to the huge dev/mod backup. Its stupid for them to totally give no hope to the devs. Why do HTC release source code in the first place? Surely its because of the dev/mod support environment. Implementing such thing on an international release would kill their future sales, i guess they know about it.

Manufacturers are blocking hardware controlling to avoid bricked/broken device being sent to them. Rooted devices (non official roms) are considered as breaking the warranty. If one root/flash a custom, they have their risk on their own hands. Once non on official, considered being on their own. At least, voiding the warranty for broken custom device is OK. But totally blocking it is really a heart breaker.

Im still will buy DHD soon, but if this "so call rootkit" is not breakable or a BIG NO to custom roms, i will try other manufacturers device next time. Its quite a letdown for me i guess to not flash custom rom. I enjoyed it a lot cry.gif

btw, with a huge amount of RAM in DHD,does that means it will drain up more battery since DHD can store more apps into the RAM?

I have never came across an article mentioning the issue you stated. I guess more ram would be more efficient since it reduces the workload on the processor. But, such thing might not be so significant that it would be a huge/noticeable impact on the battery life. I also heard months back that people say moving apps to SD card (under froyo or A2SD+) would increase battery usage since it needs to read more but no such significant proof supports the statement. Only processor and memory experts can clarify this but surely they wont mention such a downside of having more RAM in a phone, they will highlight the advantage.

i never know apps can be installed on ram. all is there on ram is the volatile memory.. liek apps cache, etc.. so basically it will be free once u restart ur phone or clear using task manager..

apps can be installed only on ROM and flash memory..

in theory, more ram will need more juice, but even 1gb ram requires really small amount of electric (or in this case battery) juice.. so i bet the additional 256mb in DHD will have almost zero effect to battery consumption

benchmarks arent everything since how does it actually can do does not justify how it will be snappy on the android system.. but its nice to compare.. It can be a review of how the phone is actually capable to perform

what i mean was we need more RAM to run more apps hence will it drain more juice?

guys, taiwan is coming out with the price d.

HTC Desire HD 建議售價:新台幣 20,900 元整;HTC Desire Z 建議售價:新台幣 18,900 元整。

so, expect the price is about 2000-2300 for DHD and 1900-2100 for Des-Z. hoping the price range is really within it!
