Haha...
Give yourself a pat on the back... I read the specs b4 but was too lazy to copy it here. Well looks like some serious specs. If only they changed the LCD to maybe 3". But then they would have to compromise other areas like weight and size. I think this will be a seller for O2 or HTC though im still trying to swallow the fact that they added the QWERTY keypad. Besides that this device is a dream. |

QUOTE(hamikangtao @ Sep 13 2005, 10:09 PM) You must set it to learn first. Example: You have a Sony Television, then tap on the learn function and start learning. Add new device and name it e.g Sony TV. Click start learning n Click on any button you wanna start learn e.g channel 8, then using the actual button from the Sony remote controller tap the no.8 button facing the remote to the IR port of your Mini. You will hear a confirmation sound. Then continue[I] tapping Start learning and do the same process for the other buttons. When you're done tap end learning. Im using this to control my ASTRO dish as my original remote Kaput |

advantages of using memmaid .... :
" The program integrates multiple clean up and environment controls in a single utility, with a very easy to use interface. Pocket Internet Explorer will store its cache files in a different folder. Like other Windows based computers, some programs use uninstall files, and almost all programs store information on a special storage called the Registry. Keeping these files, information and other pieces of data under control helps us manage the device, sometimes avoiding negative impact on its performance. Another good example is the Notifications Database. Windows Mobile 2003 OS sometimes fails to clean up this important database, and some notification entries are not removed, or are duplicated. With time this database will grow to a quite large size, causing all sort of problems and creating problems with notifications, alarms and other tasks that depend on event handling." full review : http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2977 and work really gr8 |

more on 65K vs 262K on Windows Mobile Devices:
Windows Mobile Team Blog Article: Having More Colors Is A Good Thing, Isn't It? preview: QUOTE A Packing Problem You need the CPU to write things into the Frame Buffer. Since a pixel is 16 bits and the CPU really likes to deal with data 32 bits at a time you just write 2 pixels at once. This makes everything happy. But what would happen if you had 18 bits per pixel? The first pixel would line up on a boundary that the CPU is happy with. But the next one wouldn't. Neither would the one after that. Things wouldn't line up again until the 16th pixel. So, 15 out of every 16 pixels are handled in a way that's really inefficient for the CPU. 18 bits just don't fit together well in a world of 32s. For this reason, the RGB 666 pixel format (18 bit) just doesn't exist. It's not natively supported in any operating system I'm aware of. Not CE, XP, Mac, Unix, Palm, or Symbian. But wait. There's a competitor's phone out right now that advertises having a 262144 color screen. They must support 18 bit color, right? Actually, no they don't. They support 24 bit color, and then they throw away the data from 6 of the extra 8 bits. Have you ever tried to fit two suitcases into a trunk only to find that they're just a tiny bit too big to fit? What did you do? Most likely, you put a smaller suitcase in the extra space. But what if you didn't have a smaller suitcase? In that case, you probably put the one suitcase in the trunk and left a lot of wasted space around it. That's what's happening with anyone who is supporting an 18 bit screen. Because the 18 bits don't pack together well, they leave empty space around them. Enough mumbo jumbo. What does this really mean? It comes down to this. If you want to make use of those extra colors, your frame buffer needs to be either 50% or 100% bigger than it is now. Filling that frame buffer will be correspondingly 50% to 100% slower. Things that require the screen be updated frequently (watching movies, taking pictures, playing games) will go slower. Games in particular, are hard hit. Games based on the old Game API (GAPI) will need to do a slow conversion, or they won't work at all. Newer DirectDraw games will do better, but will still be slower on a 24 bit system than on a 16 bit one. Windows CE supports both forms of 24 bit color (24 and 32 bits). If an OEM really wants to "make use" of that 18 bit screen, they can. The question you need to be asking yourselves, however, is whether or not it's worth the cost. Is a marginally better image worth slower graphics? It is my belief that the tradeoff isn't worthwhile. I see this as a marketing battle, not a technical one. The competition wants to put the bigger number in their bullet points so they can be "better" even though, in my opinion at least, it makes them worse. Here's a quick and dirty desktop app written by one of our hardware guys. It lets you load a 24 bit image and compare it to what it would look like in 18 and 16 bit. Because it's so hard to see a difference, the app also shows a 12 bit image. Nothing does 12 bit anymore, but you can look at the faults in that image to give you an idea where to look for differences in the 16 and 18 ones. The App requires that you have .net 2.0 installed. Sorry, it's what we had handy on short notice. You can decide for yourself whether the differences in 18 and 16 bit are worth the corresponding ram and speed costs. Haih,
Had a torrid time changing my screen protector today. Finally got a Martin Fields and wanted to replace my old one. Removing the old protector and cleaning the LCD went fine. Then it was time to install the new one. After taking out the new protector from its warp, I dropped it on the carpet. Close observations showed a lot f dust particles. Has to run it under a tap and dry with a hair dryer. Then I forgot which side is supposed to be on top...luckily i took a guess and the protector stuck to the surface(I hope only one side is adhesive and not both or I might be on the wrong side Worth the trouble though. Was using the cheap RM15 Screen Mask brand and the change to this one was a huge difference. It actually looks glossy and clear compared to the other blurry one. PLus the stylus now glides effortlessly along the LCD surface. Though I bought for RM50 Digital Gadgetss Low Yatt. Anybody know where else to get it at a cheaper price? |

Shit, my Mini just hard-reset itself on Monday noon time while I'm fishing in the middle of the sea!!!!
So damn sad that time until I found out I did a backup a month ago. But it still won't help cause all my recent valuable data has gone... Sigh, just simply hang while I try to take a pic of a fish that my friend manage to get from the sea, then I just press the soft reset button and 'boom', it hard reset itself without giving me any signal!!!! |
