Liverpool Manager Roy Hodgson Dismisses Reports Javier Mascherano Is Set For An Imminent Barcelona Move
Boss has no intention of letting Argentina skipper go...

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has swatted aside fresh speculation about Javier Mascherano by insisting the "day does not seem to be imminent" when he leaves.

Mascherano, 26, has told his new boss of his desire to leave the club and has been linked with Inter and Barcelona. After reports in Argentina emerged last night claiming that Barca have agreed a deal for the Argentine, Hodgson went on the defensive in front of the media this afternoon.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's match against Arsenal, he said the arrival of Christian Poulsen does not mean Mascherano is about to be sold: "At the moment Javier Mascherano has shown no signs of going.

"It's not a question of 'are you going to replace Mascherano?' I believe Javier will play for us and Christian Poulsen will play for us.

"I'm happy to have both players. This is a big club with a lot of games to play this year."

Hodgson added: "We talk about football [Mascherano and himself] and he's made no indication further to the meeting when I came here that he would like to leave.

"He's been getting on with his work and training properly.

"As far as I'm concerned, he is a Liverpool player and will be until the day someone signs him and that does not seem to be imminent."

here an article highlighting the fact that we are the club with the best shirt sponsorship this season, even better then manu. 31+ million pounds per year.

which strengthen my stance against the 'standard corrupted' black shirt. how was the status anyway? did it got printed? anyone got it?

Even if it is, I will support the campaign to NOT buy a single official merchandize as long as Tom Hicks and Gillette are helming Liverpool F.C.

i think the has been a short discussion on the involvement of the distorted SC logo, some including me thinks its not right to involve SC in it, after all, its not their fault

its a good 'parody', 'design' whatever you can call it, but if you are SC and you have just given a club 31 million of cash per year you would at least think you deserve nothing like this

just my 2 cents

if you love your club wouldn't you buy one too? Or at least you'll support the boycott of official merchandise.

Liverpool FC statement regarding the proposed sale of the club.

The Liverpool FC Board has reviewed a number of proposed bids for the club at a meeting held today.

The Board will continue to act in the best interests of Liverpool Football Club and its supporters, doing all that it can to ensure that the Club is ultimately sold to a buyer who has the resources and real commitment to give it a long-term, stable and secure funding position for its plans.

The sale process is continuing. However, its timing and outcome remain uncertain. In the meantime, we will not comment on rumour and speculation.

i think you are missing the point of these shirts. it's suppose to be a campaign to boycotted the club's official merchandise as long as the Yanks are the owner because big percentage (if not all) the profit coming from these official merchandise will be use to pay for the debts and not to club's fund. so if all the fans boycotted, one source of money for the Yanks to service the debt is gone and they will feel am extra problem to pay the interest on time.. hence a small step to pressure them to sell up.

standard charted will not be totally hurt because during all matches.. the team will still wear the official shirts, their logo also will be all over anfield and they can always use the players for their ads.

just realized ngog, insua and nemeth will be eligible to be categorized as U21 players and will not need to be registered in the list of 25 for BPL matches.

that will free up some slots, no wonder RH seemed so confident even if masch's transfer doesn't materialize. unless RH puts the likes of plessis and el zhar, we have room for at least 4-5 slots.

Sotirios Kyrgiakos has announced his retirement from international football with Greece.

Speaking on his official website, Liverpool's No.16 said: "The Greek National Team was one of the most important chapters in my career.

"At this time I would like to close this chapter. I want to wish all the best to the Greek National Team."

Kyrgiakos represented Greece during this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

Journalists suggested to Hodgson that he had arrived at the club ahead of a pivotal season. Again the tactician was philosophical.

"Every day I drive into the training ground I see the year 1892," he said. "In two years' time the club will be 120 years old. I won't get involved in discussions about pivotal seasons. I realise you people have got to do that because every day's pivotal in your promotion of the news.

"If you don't mind, I'll take the 120-year view. There'll be plenty more games to be played and titles to be won."
