my plants survive without co2 tank.. hehe.. ur fish produce co2 by breathing, and they take oxygen produced by plants .. so its just a matter of balancing the amount of fish vs the amount of plants if u dun hav co2 tank icon_rolleyes.gif of course u need to have light

i also newbies here .. hahaa, can't compare my tank with all the pros here XD

depends on type of plants and how many u have in the tank i think.. for lightning i just use the light i got from local fish shop, plus my tank near front door, so it stil can get some sun light

what is CO2 role in aquascaping?

recall back to our primary school content, plants need carbon in order to perform the photosenthesis...
remember liao?

some plant might can tolerate very low CO2 (carbon content) for photosenthesis, such as fern & moss...
but if u compare a planted tank with and without CO2, u will see the different...

Lighting....
what is lighting roles in aquascaping...

recalling back also our primary school content, plants need sunlight to assist in photosenthesis process.
so, what is the lighting that can replace for sunlight?

read before on statement from Amano-san, he did a research and found out that at 8000k lighting temperature, the light source will penetrate water and send enough lighting for plants to perform photosenthesis....

hmm. yes you are right. but the co2 produced isnt sufficient for Optimal growth. hence the external introduction of co2 with a co2 tank

dont have to compare with the pros. post here, some of us can help criticize/improve. then from there we can see growth.

different type of plants needs diferrent intensity of lights. intensity can be measured by light wattage.

and using sun light isnt recommended. somehow it only attracts algae growth and also increase water temperature. too hot is no good for plants.
