QUOTE(dennisdreams @ Nov 12 2005, 03:32 AM) ya~ that's true, most european car were design with limited life span. But there's one japan brand also put 'time bomb' in their parts as well. HONDA. I'm in car's spare parts business and found out that some parts for HONDA were design with fragile parts which will ware out in 1~2 years. So is for the CRV's suspension. Yup, my dad's old CRV (97 model) must replace the stupid absorbers. It seems that most CRV's had the same problem.QUOTE(jovial @ Nov 16 2005, 07:03 AM) I'm now in australia. Cool...3 litre turbo diesel...hmmm but things for us don't seem to bright though...There are rumours that diesel would rise to rm2.10 per litre. I don't think it would happen though becoz the ministry would be confronted by discontent public vehicle operators and transportation services. Furthermore, diesel (Euro-2) have friendlier emissions compared to cars these days so they should promote diesel engines as a viable solution. The hilux here has a 4.0 petrol engine or a 3.0 turbo diesel i wonder how much fuel that thing drinks. They have some funny options tho. Some come with the same rear tray like our M'sian hilux but some just have like a lorry back. ![]() turbo air scoop! ![]() prices! multiply by 2.8~2.9 to get ringgit * 4.0L VVT-i V6 Petrol 5 spd Manual Pickup from $47,420 * 4.0L VVT-i V6 Petrol 5 spd Auto Pickup from $49,850 * 3.0L Turbo Diesel 5 spd Manual Pickup from $49,920 * 3.0L Turbo Diesel 4 spd Auto Pickup from $51,850 Btw, a friend of mine @ mutiara motors KL has suggested to me to put an intercooler for my hilux. FYI, they are the official distributers of G-reddy products in Malaysia and Im not really interested @ it for the moment. If anyone here is interested, I could ask him to help fit a G-reddy intercooler kit in. |

QUOTE(dchk @ Dec 1 2005, 11:13 PM) Did anyone see the new Isuzu D-Max 4x2. Cost around RM67K. Is is a 2500cc displacement. I've seen the D-max and it looks quite ok...As a hilux owner, of course I'll be biased to say that the rear seat is more cramp compared to the hilux. But since road tax would be only rm1k plus per annum (green engine) and the still low price of diesel, it'll be a good buy. Full tank of 76 litre goes for 1400km. That is super fuel consumption. Minus stuff like ABS, EDB, do you think it is ok to get as a budget vehicle. Can't afford a 4x4 pickup, but at least it is better and cheaper than a normal car. Just wanna know, anyone you guys who bought your 4x4, have you gone off road before. Or did any of you engage full 4x4 all the time or mostly drive 4x2. I do know the 4x2 by Isuzu D-Max has its back suspension softer, comparable to a car. So I am wondering will a 4x2 pickup do ok most of the time The only drawback about no ABS is that the car would tend to have less braking ability since u must consider the momentum of such a big truck. U can try the older Ford Ranger models which has no ABS and u'll get what I'm saying. I take mine for off-road sometimes, especially on tin mining roads in kampar area. The most I'll go is 4 high and its very rare to use 4 low unless ur planning to go to logging areas or the deep jungle. U can't compare a 4x4 suspension to a car especially pickups...it'll be bouncier but then its not that unbearable if u drive in KL most of the time. |

fxmiau : nice storm u have there....got lots of extra's inside...hehehe...my mileage already 25k even for a 6 mth old car...
jovial : the meters in the hilux are not accurate...u should get a rsm and connect it to get your true speed directly from the ECU |

QUOTE(jovial @ Jan 22 2006, 09:44 PM) I've got a Garmin 60CS and a Garmin GPS V. My 60CS is going back to the shop soon as the USB port broke. The speed is quite accurate compared to my Ranger but it does vary 3% with different tyres. Nope...mine one is built in directly with pda functions....tried it on kl roads that day...quite accurate to the point of small lanes in kl....best thing is i can install the media player and watch dvd movies on it too...I'm using the maps from malsingmaps.com. Holux is a BT GPS receiver right? What are you using to communicate with it? You should be able to use the Garmin maps. |

should have taken pictures of the new storm interior when i was in phuket....design wise, some say nice, some say ugly....but on thailand roads, the DMax, Frontier & Hilux is best seller...DMax on fuel efficiency, Frontier most powerful & Hilux has the widest and best twincab interior in size and space....

my contractor client had her new hilux stolen again after 2 weeks....her first one was stolen 8 mths ago and after that, added a lot of security systems on the second one...but the car-thefts brought the ultimate tow truck and she can see the tire marks leading away from outside her house..
