the road tax for a hilux is very cheap in sabah/sarawak. less than RM300 a year thumbup.gif but hopefully the diesel crisis wont last for long biggrin.gif

FYI, hilux can be take off road with no problem, so u can join in expedition with it in the future biggrin.gif

coconut,

i was thinking about your comment about Toyota launching first in Thailand and AU, and you are hoping that the one Malaysians get will be better.

Not likely.

Toyota will not rush into launching any products before working out the kinks.
In fact, Malaysians are not enjoying the full range of toyota products - the Hilux Vigo in Thailand comes with both a 2.5 and a 3.0L - the latter with 163hp and 330NM of torque.

From what I saw from Toyota's website, the 3.0L is not sold?
and the price in Thailand for the 3.0 4x4 double cab is about RM70,000 or so.

I live in Bangkok currently, and am pretty amazed with the number of Toyota Hilux sold in Thailand - they claimed to have sold 120,000 units for the first 5 months, to give you an idea of how big is the pick-up segment here [about 50%, or 300,000 units per annum]

There is a full write up about the new Toyota Hilux in tomorrow's News Straits Times - Car's Bikes and Trucks section. The editor compares them to the other top selling double cab trucks like the Nissan Frontier, Mitsubishi Storm, Ford Ranger etc. Check it out biggrin.gif

land rover discovery like proton car u all know?
My grandpa got one discovery II,that car very lousy,do u ever hear about the driver window glass fall down by itself?
The windscreen wiper need to be replace every 3 months bcos the rubber are not smooth enough to swipe the water
Every servive cost about RM2K
This Discovery II is good in suspension for sure, but for other not really nice car.

I had booked one unit of new Hilux once UMW can start take order,i still cannot know when my car can arrive.Haih, the salesperson say i'm in the 1st batch but now i still can't know when i can get it.This should be unfair for me to wait without knowing the waiting period. We suppost will get car once the car has beed launched for those who book at the very 1st la,but in my case,it really make me crazy waiting for it.

Anyways,Toyota Hilux is really good choice to those who want to choose SUT

erm.. so as not to confuse other forumers, LAND ROVER and RANGE ROVER are TWO DIFFERENT brands, altogether. land rover is the super-low-end version of RANGE ROVER. pricewise, land rover cost about 200k, range rover = 750k. so, tat';s why land rover got lotsa prob

Land Rover is a company name, Range Rover is one of their products name.
The cheapest Land Rover line up is the Freelander.
Land Rover lots of problem? blink.gif

land rovers are abit cheaper because they dispense with the city comforts, like leather, dual gears and all the city driving crap.
range rover instead are armed for both rough and road terrain, since the suspension is variable and can lift or lower the car at command, plus the traction control system can adapt to road conditions. the range rover also had a few adjustable systems for road handling like stability control, load balancing and some other crap lah. drive one myself, can't say i'm dissapointed about anything besides my crappy 5.0 kmpl FC, although expected, my pocket is taking a beating.
