the 70 -300mm lens cost less then rm500. but still a nikon. u just have to work around the lens shortcomings and find the sweet spot of the lens where it is at it's best.

pro lens help the pro to do their work faster, normal lens do the same job but abit more harder.

pro lens using high grade meterials. glass, motors, fixed aperture and many more. therefore the picture is nicer, sharper and pricer

while normal lens is like asal ade je biggrin.gif

to put in simpler terms its like a car.

a mercedes and a proton. both are cars, both have 4 wheels, both protects you form the rain and both also pay roadtax. but the difference is mercedes is luxurious and only for those who can afford them and the proton is just a car for the masses.

pro lens expensive cause of many2 technology that is crammed into it like af-s, ed, nano coating, fix apertures for zoom lens, very fast apertures, etc etc etc.

normal lens lack the technology but still can take pictures.

bad thing about pro lenses.... huge n heavy

Huge & heavy? Like akagidemon said, compared low-end cars & high-end cars. High-end cars are heavier, but you certainly get what you paid for thumbup.gif

how to know whether the lens performance is very good like the sharpness and all? i just look the lens focal length and aperture only. do i need to read the lens review?

for example Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro, Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro,Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. why the nikkor one so expensive? is there any other aspect i need to look for their sharpness and all?

thnks in advance for sharing info. smile.gif

The pricier the better tongue.gif, minus some others like the cheap yet good 50mm f/1.8D.

This is damn overrated. The only lens pro lens I know that's heavy is the 70-200 f/2.8 and above. But I'm a tiny guy and yet I can lug that around for the entire day, shooting Super GT and doing panning without aid of a monopod. The smaller lens like 24-70, 14-24 etc are not as heavy actually. My 16-35 is pretty light! LOL.

prove that price is a variable in determining a lens picture quality.

heavy on the wallet. lol. no hard feelings there.

for those who can afford nice gears then go for it. for those who cant, the cash extra cash from buying a cheaper lens can go to paying off photography workshop fees. it is better to learn how to take pictures properly 1st then buying a high end gear but then scratching ur head coz the pictures dont turn out like u want them.

as humans we tend to emulate other people that are the same interest with us. we see a photograph by a pro photog and we see the kit he use to take that photo but we always fail to see the exif data which will tell us part if not most of the story on how the photog takes the picture.

we always emulate the kit but never the technique.

Thanks for the heads up! the picture is now clearer tongue.gif

oh another one, where to find freeware that makes NEF thumbnails appear in Windows Explorer? I tried googling but couldn't find a free one though. The one on M'soft website needs to validate Windows authenticity, which.... rolleyes.gif

there's the nikon RAW viewer, can't remember what's the actual name.

NEF Codec or something.

Obviously you buy what your pocket can handle smile.gif . If can afford better gears and you're willing to pay for it, nobody's stopping you. If you can take good picture with your current set of gears then of course its the best thumbup.gif .
