Wait for the end of the year sales on Steam.

Similar to summer sales, there would be a lot of discounts on almost every game.

If your rig can run the game, i think even full retail price is worth it. Also, heard Steam version have some problems.

BFBC2 is probably the second best FPS after TF2.

I doubt everyone will dump BFBC2 after Black Ops or MoH.

MoH isnt even close, as it quite a bad game.

Black Ops looks interesting, though.

Guys guys....
Just take it slowly on the sales man...

You don't want to end up like some of us here that have too many games but have only little hours to spend.

Take it easy.

It can, I am using Windows 7 64bit.

I suggest you try the method shown in the first post (ie. by downloading the zip file from link provided)

lulz i just realized gogo2 put my link in the first post of this thread.

Method 2(Deimos):
Click link below to download Steam client. Install this Steam client instead of the one on Steam website.
http://www.mediafire.com/?mju2nmmizdk

this is a old build of steam, in july 2009.

for clean install steam not working after the initial installation, copying the files from this zip archive into the new clean install steam should be get steam running, after that, steam will download the required files to auto update itself.

i recommended this method to a few who asked me for help regarding their steam being unable to update itself after a clean install steam and they reported back that this method worked for them.

I had that issue to when I tried to restore my Steam client.

I did something similar, just copy my Steam client from my other PC and just paste it to my PC.

Fortunately it works flawlessly.

your steam update, is it clean install, or are you updating from a previous old version oh?

have you opened up these ports?

QUOTE
Which ports must be open in order to use Steam?

The following ports must be open in your firewall and router for Steam and Steam Games to work:

UDP 1200    (used for friends service)
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27020 to 27039 inclusive
TCP 27040 and 27041 only for CyberCafe Owners

Computers running Dedicated Servers need these ports open:

UDP: 27015 and 27020 (default HLDS, SRCDS and HLTV port)
TCP: 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

If your server uses a different hostport then you will need to adjust the above accordingly.

For help on port forwarding for your Router, please consult this excellent website: http://www.portforward.com.

For assistance with your Firewall you will need to go to the support site for your particular Firewall.

NOTE: Windows XP SP1 firewall does not require any specific configuration changes for Steam Clients to work, but for Source Dedicated Servers you must open TCP Port 27015 (or whichever port your server is using) for RCON to work!

is it updating?

it is quite a huge update.

steam-client-updated-18-july-2009.zip
(11.69 MB)

this one only 11.69MB

my current updated steam client in my office is like 134MB (no games installed, clean steam)

perhaps i should zip / 7z and upload that too.

Always save steamapps folder somewhere.. else you'd have to re download all. It will delete your games if uninstall.
