I'm just with pragmatic approach. I won't spend more than 1K even if I've the money and its better spent elsewhere. Many years ago I bought a high end DVD player...Sony DVP-S7700, possibly the best in its era and no DVD player currently can match its build quality. Yes, it gave me great years of service, optimum SQ and PQ but today it can't beat my RM200+ LG DVD player with upscaling. The point is... that RM3+k I spent on that model is reduced to dust now when I could have used two thirds of the cost for a new TV or something else. No need to spend too much on a player. Hi Firends, if u want cheap but quality good, pls look for POHD E, which do not hv LAN port. It will be available by end of this month. Our target price is RM319.00. POHD is UK based company. For even better quality, you can look at Mede8er, but price is RM519 wor. The best is Dune, in term of colour and sharpness. Pls remember, good thing come with price ya.
For media player, the most important factor is firmware support. Until now, POHD, Mede8er and Dune firmware support are very well. But those China brand release firmware with the original SDK only. Mostly they do not modify according to the current movie files situation. The technology always new, it won't stop. We do not where we go tomorrow, so, we must enjoy now friends... |

Just want to ask:
1) I've loads of ori DVD. In what uncompressed format can I rip and store to external or installed HDD and POHD play from thereon? I don't want to rip and convert to Divx or other compressed format as my pc is too slow to process one dvd disc. 2) Can POHD support external DVD drive for reading other discs of my choosing? Can it browse contents of of media files on optical drive? This post has been edited by bsl555: Nov 11 2010, 03:13 PM |

Actually, all I need is a media player that can support Samsung series 5 till 9, Mkv file or any blu ray file (now and future) and DTS. The rest is simply additional which im not focusing just yet. If you don't mind spend for a good player, go for Dune Base for about RM900 or Dune Prime (RM1300) with the ability to play physical BD. |

No need to think too much lah. Just buy the POHD (with network) lah... it'll suffice most of your need. I'm also seriously considering too.
If you have the budget...Dune lah! |

QUOTE(vivre @ Nov 11 2010, 01:30 PM) News/rumours are that they will be including the new Essential GUI into the POHD as well. Based on the SDK 4. But don't quote me on that Added on November 11, 2010, 7:09 pm QUOTE(bsl555 @ Nov 11 2010, 03:58 PM) Thanks buddy for the info. I'm now assuming the POHD will easily identify and play the DVD movie from HDD and I've to find a DVD ripper to rip the discs to HDD. If your DVDs are not protected discs, just copy and paste the folders and files directly from your PC DVD drive to a separate folder on the internal/external Hard Disk. You can name the folder any way you want. After that you can connect the ext HDD to the POHD and play from there. Whenever you select the folder with your DVD movie inside, the POHD will recognise it's a DVD movie and can play directly with Full Menus. This post has been edited by Ngto: Nov 11 2010, 07:14 PM |
