expert mode u need to define urself in setting so it will available when u change setting.

am i consider senior owner of this lovely LD460?? hahaha..

provided that your HT has optical in...
only DTS but not DTS-TrueHD dude...
unless ur HT has USB too then different case.. hehe..
i'm looking for some HT too... my highest pick would be Onkyo HT-S3300/S5300..

not much 37 in market le... only 32 and 42..
both 450 and 460 can play MKV, just that 450 sound bar not visible from below.

using VGA is normal to have alignment issue, is better to use HDMI if u have..
however change the output resolution or adjust using laptop/pc is the solution.

Optical out from TV only output the raw source of the sound, the AL ATP3 doesn't have any decoding chip therefore u need a AV-Receiver to help you decode the DTS and output to speaker, btw normal AV-Receiver do not support PC speaker with 3.5mm jack.
so the weird sound u heard is the source from movie which is not decoded.
if u want to use PC speaker then u just directly plug the 3.5mm jack from ATP3 to TV 3.5mm jack and it work like a charm.. however still no sound when u play DTS audio movie.
this little thing might help u to decode the DTS to ur PC speaker.

just plug ur speaker 3.5mm to TV lo.. side panel there.
however the volume tune down immediately and u need to volume up ur TV kao kao~

LD450/460 has USB port i believe we can upgrade firmware using USB, but so far doesn't have any firmware release by LG.

hey, can you teach me how to display subtilte on my LD450? i tried to play mkv file but it didn't show the subtitle... pls...

do u download the sub file?? something like *.srt format...
and rename it the same as ur video file and it should work...
only english... chinese not supported.

I tried... Menu.. Red color button.. then will show u some info.. like firmware and bla bla.. it also will show used hour.
Oh.. my TV has been using more than 1000 hours already.. damn!

erm.. make sure the subtitle is same filename as your video file,
u can go to settings and enable to subtitle.
sometimes won't show may due to player problem..
better to get a media player indeed..
at first i was relying on the TV USB to play..
but u'll fed up when the TV do not play DTS audio video.
and basically the TV video playing fucntion is too basic. (don't expect much.. it's integrated to TV)

that is because your DVD player optical out has a decoder build-in which able to decode the source, so i believe ur digital to analog converter doesn't have any decoding function.

my 42LD460 black out suddenly...
called LG support and they send engineer to my house and fix in 20 mins by changing board... all free... thank god is 2 years warranty...
