Well, it's natural. After a few years they start to feel loose.

Ooohhh, Intel's i5-560M, i5-580M, and i7-640M will be released this Sept smile.gif
And maybe 3/4 years after that the i5-2520M, i7-2720QM etc...

i5-560M should be the same price as i5-520M, since i5-580M is same price as i5-540M.
Too bad Dell doesn't offer i7-620M for XPS16. This should be the fastest Core i series dual core for now.

I predict a XPS 16 refresh by October smile.gif Hope I can get one after my A levels. They are really slow with the GPUs though...

Notebook batteries are very specific, you can only get the XPS battery.
The easiest way is to buy it directly from Dell like you did.

3 months warranty is bollocks. It should be at least 1 year... Dell was very nice to me about laptop's battery (because of a recall), but still, 3 months isn't fair. Give them a call or few more.

What is the diff between buying from Thunder Match and online? Nearly the same price for me, but I could bring the PC back because they had the stock at the shop.

That's only 1.31 Megapixels res... I thought XPS 16 was 2MP?

Take some photo of your laptop with it.

Cameras such as these, mobile phone and laptop cameras, are very sensitive to background noise and frequencies. That's why they are not very expensive and don't produce very good quality audio/video. But I find the 2.0MP camera is good for taking background photos, they look good after they're enlarged.

Hmm, 4670 is 35W, 5730 is 26W, 5830 is 24W... should have 5830!

Read on some forums that the bottom left of the LCD whitens/yellows (most observable when LCD displays a black/dark picture) due to heat blasting at it from the air vent. Anyone noticed?

Those reviews are scary... 2 XPS and both have problems... I definitely know what it's like, to have a replacement which fails...

Excited to get one after exams... I wish Vostro/Latitude had better GPU, then I'd pick that over XPS 16.

Apparently the warranty is international - Dell will service your laptop all over the world. But if the service tag is registered internationally there should be no problem.

Where do you get this information, that it is 3 years for International? That's not what the Dell guy said. Maybe he's wrong then sad.gif

Yeah, NBD warranty is international (3 years).
For XPS I don't know. The guy didn't say it was 3 years. I'll ask when I buy.

BTW saw a photo and the screen completely blocks the vent when it's open, it's worse than I thought. The design is worse than M1330 which is way older. Makes you wonder why they can't change its position.

Even if this does not affect the screen (maybe it's not as noticeable), there could be long term effects. That's where 3 years warranty comes in handy.

I like the Zalman 2000 design because it has a large surface - coolers with a few fans have a problem because the areas which aren't fans block the bottom of the laptop a little. But this thing costs nearly RM200?

Ohh how much is it?

And btw XPS is not really super thin, I think. Design is nice, but its size is standard for 15.6 size notebooks. Looks slim, yes, but so is every other 15.6 inch notebook out there (excluding Alienware, Sager, Clevo of course). Like some Studio series, why can't they fit a side vent? Small side vent is better than extremely small back vent.

I would totally buy a Studio, if only it had a better goddamn video card. Even GT 240M let me down (23W only) as it's super warm in the laptop (thanks also to i7, never lower than 49/50+C idle, and that's on a SUPER cold rainy day, cold is <26C in this place).

XPS M1330 is light, nice design, and the vent does not point at the screen. That's why it's weird that 1647 has the screen over the vent rather than above.

But who could resist backlit keyboard, 1920x1080, HD 5730, i5/i7. i7-620M not available in MY? It is in UK/USA. They are overcharging for i5s.

Bro do you mind sharing, how come your download is 10MB/s?
What Internet service are you using?
What kind of settings enable you to achieve those speeds?

Don't know if you can compare Ringgit to MB, in size or speed. Because they have various sizes and various speeds and they aren't progressive.

Damn, bought me a USB WD for ~RM240+, for 320GB - now its less than that price for 500GB.

Heard SSD is good but as usual, in MY it's bloody expensive. Most of us don't have the actual need for it, but it's arguable that a good SSD will supercede and eliminate the need for a decent CPU or even RAM.

Haha, hair in the screen is a manufacturing defect? Well monitors always get stuff trapped inside, for me, kinda like the phone screen?

If you say dust won't get into the screen that's great.

MMU you mean your school eh? Nice.

At home the bandwidth for me is 7.2MBps, but that's only BANDWIDTH... top achievable speed 6800KBps, fluctuates, and download is usually 100KBps - 300KBps, max is ~800KBps.
Downside, 6GB cap which caps at Much Lower than 6GB.

Warranty is a great thing... now if only the i5 model is more affordable so I can buy the 3 year warranty...

Heard many tales of people having super replacements for their defected Dell units... glad I've solved my Lenovo problem (thank you Lenovo)... little trouble with Dell so far.

My father's M1330 has the metal speakers part scratched up really really horridly.

Just after the day the RM200 coupon expired.
So basically the price dropped by RM200 from its base price, but since the coupons were really well hidden (couldn't even find them on Dell's site) it's good.

Is this price worth it now, or should I wait a little while? It can only drop further right? Core i5 should not be so expensive but this is a Full HD and good graphics high end model.

I am confused. Why would they remove i7-740/840QM XPS 1645s? Those processors are new. The new ones coming out next month are i5-560/580M.

Excited. When are the new models coming out? Maybe they are finally done with XPS 1645? Dell US is still selling the XPS 1640 with C2D last week.

-RM3599 looks like a huge drop but it's only the base i5-450M model with HD 565v. Plus, 1 year warranty only.

Dell US is having a major sale of XPS1645s (i7-720QM): like US$300+ discount. But the i7-740QM should be used for either new model or Alienware I think.
Ahh in the US they charge for 720>740 uograde, but i5-540M is standard in XPS 1647.

If only somebody can explain what is going on.

Cool! I actually like the 13 inch design in the M1330. It would be so much more portable (if the new XPS could be like that).

As for Core i7 it's not a big deal for me because honestly I felt the i7-720QM was SO Slow. Yes, my HDD was a crappy Seagate 5400RPM but still, even with RAM getting 7.1 or 7.3 on WEI.

All I could wish for is a fast i5 or i7 dual core, and HD5730 or better, in a 13/15 inch screen, that'd be perfect.

Hmm, 13 inch won't be Full HD but it's not like most of us have 1920x1080 stuff to watch anyways. Blu-Ray? LOL.

If they could just sell all the old XPS1645s and unleash the new one, awesome!

Let's wait and see what happens happy.gif

Obviously the shop wants to make more $.

Get it from the website if you can wait a few weeks (3?).

From the shop if, like we said, you want it instantly.

Generally the price is nearly the same, but the shop may not update the price to follow its latest price. Also, the website doesn't have that i7 model you want anymore... unless you call Dell and ask them.

Is it because of Windows 7 maybe?

Btw I don't think i7 XPS 16 will be back. If it is, it might be with modified specs or prices. They might be using the processors for other models, Studio, Alienware... or the new XPS that has yet to be released.
