Aww no on/off. I like to switch of the screen during afk.

HD5770 GDDR5 - yeah maybe in 5 months they'll put that up. Otherwise never.

Hitachi HDD is nice smile.gif

BTW any i5 and GPU temp screenshots yet?

The TDP of HD 5730 is > HD 4670 I heard. But yet some people say HD 5730 uses less heat / is more power efficient.
But what is it with us people that always want the higher one. LOLZ

Guys, the Dell Studio XPS, is the body made out of a metal or aluminium alloy? Or is it just plastic all the way (read somewhere it was alum alloy)?

Do the speaker grilles get scratched really easily (my father's old XPS Mxxxx did)?

Ohh so the bottom of the laptop is metal then.

Same, dust collects on my Tiny speaker grilles. Barely a square inch x2. How to get rid of it?

LOL when I asked for a quotation it was more expensive than the previous one...

They still refuse to give the OS disc... zzz

Oh btw the top cover of the XPS 16, does it have some leathery rubbery patch? My laptop's top cover has a rubbery surface but this is ok as it does not wear out. I hope the XPS' is solid plastic or whatever.

How is the performance of the machine so far - i5 and HD 5730?

Yeah, I wanted the actual OS Installation Disc. But no more... they keep saying "make your own Recovery Media" which is useless since we can't do a clean install... isn't it just such a waste since we buy the OS License... any way to get hold of a disc, through Dell or Microsoft?

lee_what2004 got the OS Installation Disc.

Fantasia I'm not sure, if it is called Windows Recovery or something like that then it is not the one we're talking about.

Basically the RE is useless because we want to do clean reinstalls without the Dell apps. We would just reinstall the Dell apps later.

For example I don't want the AntiVirus there forever, it needs to be uninstalled all the time... and it is "installed" on the system registry.

Darn it sad.gif

If you haven't got the Win RE you can make it with a few DVDs... but then again it will be the Dell installed system... and if you did not back up, you lose stuff... which is less important nowadays as people are more aware of these things.

However, those of us who don't get the OS Disc... Z friggin Z

Hoho... the OS disc is a special Dell edition eh... but when you use it does it install all the random Dell softwares too... or is it a 100% fresh install

Lmao...

The online method seems very dodgy.

Ivan, when your pc arrives check if you have it then... would take like 2 weeks to arrive probably?

Hehe, can PM me also ? smile.gif

Are there laptop sleeves that will fit the 15.6 inch lappy, that would be really cool... protect the lappy without a lappy bag.

I like WD smile.gif Seagate sucks

If this upgrade was offered for that model when you bought it then it's compatible. But since this is an unusual request you should contact Dell.

Added on July 30, 2010, 12:30 amAhh... even the discount expired... oh well, wait again smile.gif

@davehii Cool, but rather expensive. I suppose this is a cross between a sleeve and a bag... it'd be cool to just have the sleeve, like a fabric-ish thin cover that you slide your lappy into...

@kkChan LOL don't bother with a netbook, buy a 2500+ notebook
